“I love the way the wedding dress is decent but nice. She has set herself apart even with the wedding dress.”
“Beautiful! This should be an example to all Christian sisters. Decency is beautiful.”
“Good example of how the wedding gown of a Christian woman should be…”
“You are a worthy example of how a Christian lady should dress on her wedding day…”

These are just few of the numerous accolades that were posted online during Mrs Joys Abodunrin (nee Oyedepo) wedding on Church Gist’s page. Recently during Mrs Brunella Uchemba’s wedding, most people complimented her wedding dress with emphasis on the decent and modest outfit:
“See her Wedding dress: very very decent.”
“See how she is decently covered up and still looks stunning. A great symbol for a role model based on the appearance in our generation.”
“She is so decent! Even her maids are decently dressed. I hope the ‘baby show body gang members’ are learning. A woman can be decently dressed and still look beautiful on her wedding day.”
“Very pure and decent. If na some celebrity now, ‘we go see and un-see’ their parts of the body. And some’ wey no even get shishi like me go dey wear’ nonsense off shoulder. Continue! Just take a look at a decent, gorgeous and beautiful wedding gown with a light makeup.”

The above statement is actually a wake-up call for Christian Brides: Yes, it is your wedding day, one of the most important days of your life, you will like to make it memorable and your wedding dress is one of the most important thing on your mind. Sadly, in this generation, most Christian sisters discard their classy but modest fashion style for trendy outfits on their wedding day. Though the Church has stepped up in this regard by screening wedding gowns. However, it is a different ballgame at the reception where some brides change into outfits that are better worn as night wears instead of wedding gowns.

The teaching on godly Christian fashion applies in all areas of life, with no exception on your wedding day.
According to Dr Paul Enenche, “In those days, you couldn’t look at a Christian sister and the first thing that came to your mind was lust. Because the appearance wasn’t lustful, not lust provoking, not lust appealing, not seductive.

But today, the opposite is the case. There are some that would come out to dance and some brother have to look away because chest and other part of the body are being advertised.

How is it that we are not concerned about what God feels and what the world feel? Somebody was interested in coming to know God and he saw the way you are looking and said if this is how they look in Church, then I don’t need to go at all (you will give account of that soul).
Every time you appear, you are communicating something. You may not commit immorality for life, but you made people commit immorality by looking at you and by spreading the spirit of seduction.”

TIPS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING YOUR WEDDING DRESS
1. Focus on finding the best wedding dress silhouette for you: Avoid getting distracted by fashion trends, instead focus on your personal style and what flatters you the most without forgetting that you are a Royal Bride, redeemed as a King and Priest to our God. Your dressing should be first unto God while other considerations are secondary (1 Timothy 2:9-10)

2. Don’t pick a wedding dress because it is trendy: Trendy wedding dresses won’t necessarily stand the test of time.

3. The top of your wedding dress: Remember that the top of your dress is what people will notice most—and what will show up in most wedding pictures. Most wedding pictures that your friends and family will take of you are from the waist up, kindly pay attention to it.

4. Ask yourself the following questions;
– Do I feel beautiful, confident and comfortable?
– Can I dance in it?
– Can I sit down?
– Am I self-conscious about any part of my body in my dress?”
If the wedding gown is glamourous, but you can’t move in it all day and feel trapped, it’s not the right one for you.

In conclusion, a demand for decency should also be matched with a supply of decent outfits. In order to ease the stress of searching for godly bridal outfits, Christian Fashion Designers should consider investing in this niche with heavenly inspired bridal gowns.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
