Sam Adeyemi on Joy Part 2 At Daystar Christian Center.

John 16:20-22 NLT: I tell you the truth you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful Joy. It would be like a woman suffering the pains of labour, when her child is born her anguish gives way to joy because she has brought a new baby into the world. So you have sorrow now but I will see you again, then you will rejoice and no one can rob you of that Joy Someone say a big Amen to that, Amen. Jesus was just about to die and He knew his disciples were feeling sad but He told them, ‘sadness is not going to have the last say over you, over your life’. He said ‘your sorrow will turn into wonderful joy’ and that’s the message I’m bringing to someone especially this season that we are in, in the name of Jesus Christ. Today marks the termination of sadness and everything that comes with it in somebody’s life in Jesus name, Amen. So this is Joy number two, we said that one of the major things that Jesus came to do was to turn our sadness to joy. Isaiah 61:3 the prophet prophesied about Him, how He would be filled with the Spirit of God and how He would solve human problems and in verse 3 he said “To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of Joy instead of mourning and the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness.”
One of the major characteristics of the Kingdom of God is joy. One of the things that makes God’s people distinct from other people on this planet is joy. If satan takes your joy away, he has taken something significant away. So today in the name of Jesus Christ, if you lost your joy, by the power of the Spirit of God, I declare, it is restored. Whatever it is that is causing the grief, causing the pain, causing the sorrow, causing sadness, the power of God removes it in the name of Jesus Christ Romans 14:17, It’s one of the first set of scriptures that I learned as a Christian from the New King James version; For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. That’s amazing, Hallelujah!
The Kingdom of God is not about rules on what to eat, what to drink, of course Paul was referring to the Old Testament law when he said it’s not external things anymore, now under the new covenant that we have with God there are intangible things but they’re powerful they control the tangible; Righteousness which is right standing with God, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Let me read it from The Message Bible Romans 14:17; “God’s kingdom isn’t a matter of what you put in your stomach for goodness sake. It’s what God does with your life as He sets it right, puts it together and completes it with joy.” Hallelujah! Thank you Lord, Jesus. That’s what the Kingdom of God is about, God puts us in right standing with Himself, changes us from the inside out, shifts our values and gives us peace. We are at peace with God, we are at peace with ourselves and we are at peace with other people, life is calmer but then He completes it with joy. Hallelujah! Thank you Lord Jesus. So if you look through the scriptures, especially in the new testament, you’ll be amazed by how much it has to say about joy but we will discuss just a few of those passages today. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 shows us that God wants us to have joy non-Stop, let’s read; “Always be Joyful. “Wow, is that not a command? Always, non-stop, 24/7, even your sleep, I mean always is always, Hallelujah! Thank you Lord.
Always be joyful, Oh! thank you Jesus. If you are of the school of thought that life is not supposed to always be happy like that, sorry, it says here “always” Is God factoring in the fact that there are times when things will not be perfect? Yes, but He says always be joyful. I’ll read it in The Message Bible, it says; “Be cheerful no matter what.” God is aware the circumstances may not be perfect sometimes, the Bible is saying here that your attitude is not a gift of the spirit, it’s a choice that you make. Hallelujah! Somebody say with me; “I choose joy”. Sadness is too much punishment for the soul and punishment even for the body. You can imagine the day I read in a book a long time ago (I’m not sure how accurate it is but the summary of it is) that we use more facial muscles when we frown than we use when we smile. Smiling pays your face better than frowning and I can tell you that as someone who could have gotten a degree in frowning my face -if there was a degree like that- many years ago. I had furrows on my forehead, but with time I got to realize that worry does not change anything, worry does not solve problems, it creates fresh ones and Jesus said don’t worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will drink, what you will put on in Matthew chapter 6; He said the people that don’t know God that’s what they do but your heavenly Father knows you, He cares about you, He is going to take care of you. So He says in Matthew 6:33; Seek first the kingdom, the rulership, the government of God “and all these things will be added to you.” The Kingdom of God, that’s what we read about, that it is righteousness, It is peace and it is joy in the Holy Spirit. Philippians 4:4 New Living Translation; Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again Rejoice! Hallelujah! I love the “always be full of joy.” Thank you, Lord, Jesus.
I hope somebody is realising right now that time spent being sad and sorrowful is wasted time, it’s not an investment, It’s a liability actually. Remember Nehemiah 8:10; The joy of the Lord is your strength. So sadness introduces weakness, sadness is spiritual weakness. So when He says rejoice in the lord always, be full of joy non-stop, God wants you on the strength frequency, God wants you on the power frequency non-stop. I love it. I want us to dig into that verse and enjoy it. “Always be full of joy in the Lord. again I say rejoice.” Let me read it from The Passion Translation; It says “Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let Joy overflow for you are united with the anointed one.” I love this. Let joy overflow, be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Life comes in seasons and things change but the one thing I know is that the One that creates the seasons does not change Himself and He has the power to fulfill His counsel, to fulfill His promises whatever the name of the season is. Hallelujah! There is something for me in every season, Amen. There is something for you in every season. There’s nothing as frustrating as wanting something to happen outside of its season. There is timing when it comes to the things of God. Habakkuk 12:3; For the vision is for an appointed time, though it tarries wait for it, it will not tarry. It will come, it’s in your estimation that it is tarrying, in God’s economy it is not tarrying, He has the power to change the seasons. Hallelujah! I prophesy on someone in the name of Jesus as you switch on your joy, you connect with the power source, something will switch for you today in the name of Jesus. Let’s enjoy that verse more, Philippians 4:4 Message Bible; “Celebrate God all day every day. I mean, revel in him.” That’s a strong word, the Oxford dictionary defines the word ‘revel’ to mean; to enjoy oneself in a lively and noisy way, especially with drinking and dancing. Wow! To enjoy oneself, start from there. The word ‘enjoy’ is a compound word that includes the word ‘joy’ To enjoy oneself in the noisy and lively way in other words, you can play music all by yourself, you can dance all by yourself, you can throw a party all by yourself. Now the reveling especially can include drinking and dancing. Drink juice or drink water, anyway I’m not going to put any definition as to what you are supposed to drink but it’s just a celebration. Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate, Hallelujah! I love this. I love this. So we go back to The Passion Translation; Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow for you are united with the anointed one. The Secret of your joy, the thing that motivates your joy is that you are united with the anointed one. You remember Galatians 2:20; I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live yet it’s no longer I that live, it is Christ that lives in me. Now the Christ in you cannot be joyful and then you are sorrowful. There’s a power disconnect there. The Christ in you is victorious, He defeated Satan on the cross. Colossians 2:15 says “He disarmed principalities and powers and made an open show of them and triumphed over them on the cross”. The previous verse, verse 14 says that “He took the handwriting of ordinances that was against you and nailed them to the cross.” The curses are finished, nailed to the cross by His own body. So the Christ in you is victorious. We frustrate Christ from expressing Himself in our lives when we are sad, when we are sorrowful. We are united with the anointed one. Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord, Jesus. Our oneness with Christ is the secret of joy.
Whatever cannot stop Christ cannot stop us. Hallelujah! Whatever cannot be refused Christ cannot be refused us. Hallelujah! We walk in Victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57; “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory in our Lord Jesus Christ.” You won already, it’s not that we are going to win, we won. Hallelujah! I’m prophesying over someone right now because right now it looks like your life is under a siege, Satan is waging war against you from every angle and it’s almost overwhelming, I prophesy on you right now in the name of Jesus that siege over your marriage is broken. The siege over your finances is broken. The siege over your health is broken in the name of Jesus Christ. You and Christ the Anointed One you are one. John 10:30 Jesus said I and my father are one. That was it, that shaped everything else. Whatever cannot stop God cannot stop you anymore. So I want to bring us to a description of this from John 15, this issue of being one with Christ and the dynamics what happens that provokes the joy in us. John 15:1-11 New Living Translation; “I am the true grapevine and my father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce food and He prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you, remain in me and I will remain in you for a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches, those who remain in me and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me, he is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want and it will be granted. When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my father.” Let me pause it there, Jesus is describing intimacy, closeness and connection. He says (paraphrased) ‘I am the vine and you are the branches and whatever the branch is supposed to produce it cannot produce unless it remains connected to the vine, stay connected to me. Abide in me, let me abide in you’. I love that and that’s the challenge.
However tough the world maybe let nothing separate you from the love of God. God loves you, never use circumstances to decide or to determine how valuable you are to God, it’s too late, how valuable you are to Him was demonstrated when He sent his son to die for you on the cross. Romans 8:32 says; if God did not spare his only son, how will he not with him also freely give us all things. There’s nothing else he can’t give us, he gave us his most precious gift. So always revel in that knowledge, circumstances will want to beat that out of your mind, people will want to beat that out of your mind, never forget it. ‘I and my father are one’ within that connection Jesus says you abide in me and let my words abide in you and that’s important because the question then is so what is that thing that flows from the vine into the branches? It’s the word, revelation. Hallelujah. Let’s continue our reading “I have loved you even as the father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments you remain in my love just as I obey my father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy”. Yes, your joy will overflow So that is it, maintain your connection with God through prayer, through meditation in his word. Remember the juice, the sap that flows from the tree into the vine that is what makes the fruit to come out and the fruit is the joy, it’s the peace, it’s the results, the impact of God in your life, so let the revelation continue to flow every day, communicate with your Daddy whether things are okay or things are not okay, be communicating with God. The flow of revelation into your life is what births joy. Jeremiah 15:16 New King James version; “Your words were found and I ate them and your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart.” You cannot see the situation the way God sees it and not be happy. Hallelujah! Thank you Lord Jesus, this is getting me excited.
You remember Psalm 1, the first three verses; “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the way of sinners nor sit in the seat of the scornful” Can you see everything there has to do with information? Don’t feed your spirit only with the news, with bad news, with sad news.”…But his Delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall never wither and whatever he does shall prosper.” In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I declare anything planted in your heart that is contrary to the will of God, contrary to the word of God, contrary to good news and that produces sadness instead of joy today we declare they are destroyed in the name of Jesus Christ. I prophesy, the power of the spirit of God comes on you, receive revelation, receive open eyes, receive open ears, when you pray God will open your ears and heart, when you read the Bible, when you meditate on God’s word, when you listen to God’s messages, I prophesy your ears will be open, you will see things you never saw before, faith will burst forth in your heart. Thank You Lord.
God will create new realities for you, show you new realities, I prophesy in the name of Jesus Christ, today marks the end of fear, the fear of falling sick, the fear of death, the fear of poverty, the fear of what people say, I declare the power of fear is destroyed in the name of Jesus. The spirit of anxiety goes in the name of Jesus receive. Receive a fresh baptism today of the spirit of joy and I prophesy as you rejoice and enter into celebration mode, the power of God will touch every area of your life, miracles will happen, in the name of Jesus. Miracles of provision, miracles of favor, you will get a phone call you’re not even expecting in Jesus name. Somebody somewhere will remember you for good now in the name of Jesus. Thank you Heavenly father.
Can you just go ahead and give him thanks, give him praise. Let’s start now Hallelujah! Shake off the sadness, shake off the sorrow, give God some thanks, give him some praise. Thank you Lord, in Jesus name we pray. Heavenly Father we are grateful for this moment, grateful for this day, grateful for Jesus, grateful for the Holy Spirit and now heavenly Father thank you because this is a miracle moment at all our physical locations, the person watching on the internet, on all social media platforms, the person watching on TV, let the power of God, the power of your Spirit that raised Christ from death destroy every form of gloominess and sadness in our lives in the name of Jesus Christ. I rebuke that spirit of depression, go in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father pour out the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Joy, give us capacity for celebration and Heavenly Father as we do that change what we cannot change, do what we cannot do in our lives in Jesus name. Amen.
