The decision of a then 25 year old Joycee Awosika to move back to Nigeria, from the United States of America, could only be led by God and has produced great results. Prior to her moving to Nigeria, she had never lived in Nigeria, neither did she know anyone here. Her parents tried to talk her out of it as she had spent all her life in the U.S, but Joycee was determined saying she had heard from God and wanted to pursue her ambition of contributing to the realization of stable and reliable electricity for all.

Joycee Awosika is a business guru, wife to a very supportive husband and CEO 355 Group, Tola Awosika, and mother to two amazing boys.

Joycee Awosika began her career in the power sector at Constellation Energy, a Fortune 100 company in New York, United States working on energy and commodity pricing and at the age of 23 she started a successful energy brokerage firm focused on the supply of renewable energy, natural gas and electricity across four states in the USA.

On return to Nigeria, she combined her hair business and her 9-5 Job. She worked for United Kingdom’s Department for International Development’s (DFID) infrastructure assistance program in Nigeria, the Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF) as the Technical Assistant on Research, Analysis and Informatics (Performance Monitoring) to the Honourable Minister of Power for 2 years under the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan regime.

Joycee later began a brand called ORIKI farm to skin that farms all natural ingredients and transforms them into products suitable for skin and wellness purposes. The Oriki group has greatly developed, now having 40+ products, several spa packages and multiple spa locations.
Joycee Awosika is now known as the structure lord. She is passionate about helping organisations develop a steady structure that can help operations flow appropriately. She has built a structure template for both homes and business which she has shared across businesses, facilitating different mentorship programs on structure.

Unlike some establishment who are just result oriented, Joycee is people and result oriented, she believes in building Kingdom business and following after Christ-like examples of catering for people. She consistently writes about the value of team, and building people:

“As the owner of your business, your team is everything and I mean everything. I put so much into leading them. Servant leadership, Christ like leadership, Transformational leadership”

In another post on Instagram, Joycee said;
“Leadership is not performance or a position where you sit. Some of you may wonder what’s all the fuss about creating structure, standards and sustainability? For me, it’s not just about leadership and leading right but it’s also about creating legacy. I’m sure you are not just running a business for today and tomorrow. You would desire for your business to outlive you right? If so, then creating structure and standards is critical.

To me, the Bible is the best handbook for business. Jesus is the ultimate leader who set the standards by which all leaders can be measured against”.
Joycee continued by giving three short facts:

  1. Jesus created clarity of visions, values and performance expectations
  2. Jesus held others accountable.
  3. Jesus displayed a character of humility. He was ready to serve and lead by example.
    Joycee has never been one to be quiet about her Christian faith and the role it has played in her business.
    So far, ORIKI has received mention and accolades in over 25 media forums and has been listed as one of the African Skincare brands worth knowing about in the Huffington Post and has been listed as a skincare brand to know about in Ebony Magazine’s Prince Edition.
    Joycee Awosika is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper Alumni, a nominee of The Future Awards Prize in Public Service, 2013 & 2016, selected into the African Leadership Network, a member of the Board of BeiBei Haven (a foundation focused on fertility support), and a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program Fellow. She has spoken at over 75 events and she was also selected as one of Nigeria’s 100 most inspiring women in 2015 and as a 2017 woman of the Year for Her Network.
    It would be great to ponder on these wisdom nuggets by Joycee;
    Preparation is key
    Being faithful is key
    Being in line with God’s will is key
    Letting God order your steps is key
    Being open to move when God calls you, studying the Word and knowing God’s purpose for you is key.
