- Pastor Kunle Ajayi’s unconventional encounter with the Adeboyes
On the 21st of January 2018, Pastor Kunle Ajayi who is the director of music at RCCG (The Redeemed Christian Church of God), celebrated his 30th year on stage as a Christian maestro. The event was graced by various dignitaries and they all expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness in the life of the minstrel.
Like so many servants of God, Pastor Kunle Ajayi’s life is proof that God still sets His treasures in jars of clay. The unconventional encounter that transformed him from a young rascal (who was a thorn in his mother’s flesh), to become a mentor to many, was narrated by Pastor E.A. Adeboye himself:
“Years ago, a woman brought her son to Ebute Metta, the boy was an original rascal and in order to help, we handed him over to a soldier who played guitar then. Because he was a soldier, he could handle the boy. The boy was already learning the guitar and one day mummy and l went to Kenya, she saw a flute and bought it for the “little rascal”, when the light of God began to shine in the life of that boy, he became the man we all know as Pastor Kunle Ajayi. In that rascal, there was beauty but until light shone, the beauty was hidden.
There was a conference of Pentecostals from all over the world in Malaysia, they gave me thirty minutes to preach, the first five minutes was for my minstrel and when he was done, the man in charge said l know why you travel with him.
I pray for someone here, your beauty that has been hidden will begin to be exposed in Jesus name!”
5 LESSONS FOR US ALL
1) No one is irredeemable with God (1Timothy 1:15-16).
2) Never be unwilling to be an instrument of transformation (Matthew 5:14).
3) Lasting change comes only from the light of God’s word (Psalms 119:130).
4) Every true servant of God helps you to unlock your potentials, never despise them (Ephesians 4:10-14).
5) A river that doesn’t forget its source never runs dry (Isaiah 17:10-11).
- God keeps elevating those who remain humble.
