DON’T EVER ALLOW THE ENEMY TALK YOU DOWN WITHOUT YOU RESPONDING
NEVER ALLOW THE ENEMY HAVE THE FINAL WORDS ON YOU
YOU DON’T HAVE TO ALLOW THE HORRIBLE WORDS OF THE ENEMIES ABOUT YOU REST ON YOU WITHOUT SPEAKING THE TRUTH GOD HAS SPOKEN ABOUT YOU BACK TO THEM
- Bishop Charles Cody at Bishop Emmanuel Rotimi Onabanjo’s Episcopal Consecration
I thank God for the wonderful man of God who is being elevated today. He invited me to do a trip down with him to South Africa as well as Kenya and Nigeria and it was an awesome time. I did enjoy his fellowship and I thank God for his heart. When it comes to the work of God, let your heart be right.
Father we thank You for being so kind, thank You for what you have done up to this point. We ask that as your word comes forth, we ask that You begin to turn and converts hearts and let our lives never remain the same in Jesus name we pray Amen and Amen.
The Holy Spirit gave me something to share that I have never looked at closely and that is THE MAKING OF A LEADER. This particular message is going to center around David and how he became a king. One thing God shared with me is that on your journey of leadership, God can work with you from wherever your location is. Church Gist. Sometimes we want to leave our jobs and go to a new location but God can work with you right where you are. He met Moses in the desert and he said I can work with you from the desert. He used Peter and he said “it doesn’t matter, I will go fishing with you and show you how this really works”. In other words, God can begin to do something with you right where you are. You just have to trust Him.
2 Samuel 5:3-4
When God is making a leader, He is not going to do that with natural things like sending you to school to make all A’s or I would have never qualified to lead in God’s kingdom. Church Gist. I was the slowest learner my Mum has ever seen. I had a teacher who was so mean to me, she would put me into a trash can, cover me and told me I was nothing but trash. But there goes God, He comes and says that is my son, let me take him and do something with him.
You don’t let people tell you what you can’t become, you let God tell you how you can become and get at it. God won’t call you because you are an A student. God uses other techniques to find out if you are willing to be the person He has called you to be. Many are called but few are chosen, in other words when God calls you, you are going to find out if He sent you or you just went out on your own. You have to realize that you need God to make a difference out there so you don’t come back with your tail between your legs. This is a hard job if you do it on your own, people are not friendly at all. But if you take the yoke of Jesus, it becomes easy. Let’s yoke up with Jesus and let Him help us get the job done.
Isaiah 8:18
God said to Isaiah, the kids I am going to be giving you I am giving you sons and daughters for signs and wonders. Every believer should be operating under signs and wonders and you should know that God is working miracles through your life.
Mark 16:16-18
In God’s kingdom, these signs and wonders they operate by the believer that believes they are operating. Church Gist. If you believe every single day that God is doing something great with your life, you will see greater dimensions of miracles every single day of your life.
I remember there was a prophet that came to the House of God and then I was broke, he said God was going to sort out all of our debts and that if I followed his instructions I would never be broke a single day in my life. That was about 37 years ago, he told us to take a $1 bill and he anointed it with oil and said we should never spend it and he guaranteed me and said “God would not let you see another broke day in your life”. Church Gist. The funny part is that I still have that dollar and I am not broke right now but I saw many broke days because I didn’t believe that God can supernaturally take care of me. On that day I learnt that God was able.
- This is your day for a miracle to flow inside your life.
Hebrews 2:4
God is bearing them witness with signs and wonders and diverse miracles. When God elevates a person he always bears them witness with signs, wonders, diverse miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost. We are the Body of Christ that would change the way the world is doing things and we are going to move tonight into signs, wonders and miracles.
1 Samuel 16:11
God had told Samuel to go find a replacement for Saul, Saul was someone that God couldn’t get to obey. So God said “go to the house of Jesse and have all those boys come before you, I am going to make one of them the next king”.
David’s father did not consider him to be used by nobody but himself because he didn’t fit what was his thought of someone God can use. I am telling you tonight, someone may have counted you out but tonight God is counting you in, the only thing is that He needs you to believe what He is sharing with you tonight.
1 Samuel 16:12-13
[12]And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
[13]Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
David had been elevated, but there was no crown placed upon him. He was the king elect because he had not made it to the throne yet even though he was anointed. He was still in process and while he was still in process, something strange began to happen in the palace. Church Gist. Saul began to have problems with the devil and he wanted someone that can play anointedly around him. There is still signs, wonders and miracles flowing around us but we have to allow ourselves to be used by the Holy Ghost.
1 Samuel 16:17-18
[17]And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
[18]Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
David was a person who had everything under control, he thought about the words that came out of his mind. He was the kind of person a king would want around him. God was setting him up to go close enough to see what that crown looked like. God had to move David to the palace to see what being a king looked like. God was setting him up for the moment. One day destiny started knocking.
1 Samuel 17:17-18
[17]And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;
[18]And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
David never knew he was walking into destiny. Church Gist. When he got there, he saw this giant Goliath and he realized that God had been setting him up to develop as a leader for the future.
When he looked at Goliath, he said “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine?” Then he heard the King say, “Whoever knocks him off will get some very nice goodies and even marry his daughter” The only thing that was between David and getting into the palace and getting all those goodies is Goliath. Goliath told David, “I am going to feed you to the fowls of the air” Listen, your enemies will always try to back you down with ugly words. But even if they sound horrible, you have to shake yourself up and say No! God can’t feed you to the fowls of the air. Church Gist. You will never let the enemy talk to you without you talking to them back. You have to tell your enemies what God is going to do to them just like David said to Goliath.
Never let the devil talk to you anyhow. David understood the supernatural. He was a man so powerful in his belief system. He spoke about his other deliverances God has granted unto him and with that, he believed that he would be delivered again from the hands of Goliath. And Saul said to him, “Go and God will be with you” For God to be behind the scenes of your warfare, you have to spend time with the Lord. Church Gist. You have to spend time telling yourself I am the head and not the tail. You have to spend time telling yourself I am getting that promotion right now. You have to spend time telling yourself about what God can do. It is then you can come out in the public to tell everybody that God is able to do it. He did it before and he will do it again.
David began to tell the giant, “I am going to cut your head off… I’m going to destroy you… I will feed you to the birds of the air… and I wi do all these in the name of the Lord…” I always tell people, we can do it God’s way or we can do it the world’s way. Church Gist. We can either do it by the Book or do it by crook. God wants you and I to know that we can take down anything that get in our way. We can possess whatever power we want to possess. It depends on how much we want it and how far we are willing to go. God will always be ready to go with us.
God has designed David to be a leader in future and his first test is to take the giant down. Once the enemy is taken down, then, God had him ready for the next moment of his life. Trouble takes place all of a sudden after the victory, his father-in-law wanted to have him killed. Church Gist. Don’t you dare think for one moment that the enemy won’t try to plot something against you but you’ve got to remember that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises against you shall be condemned. You have to tell God, “I believe what your word says in spite of what goes on around me”
Let God begin to use you. He said, ” This day, the Lord will deliver you into my hands” David gathered about six hundred men and began to train them, because God has already made him a leader. Church Gist. He started to develop his men, teaching them how to survive and helping them live above normal condition. Remember, those men were cast out, they were misfits. Now remember, anytime anyone thinks you can’t do it, remember that God already said you are more than a conqueror. Church Gist. You can still do it. You just need to have a heart to do it. David began to train his guys and get them ready so that they can go forward and begin to do some things.
Now, David was on the run for ten years according to historians. That is such a long time to be running. Saul was was looking for him everywhere. But David knew deep down in his heart that God has shown him a crown and the oil was also poured on him. Church Gist. He was determined and held to the word that he is a king and whatever happens, he can’t die without fulfilling what God has said about him.
You have been anointed with Holy Ghost and power too. You can’t die until you allow the Holy Ghost have his complete work in you. Let the Holy Ghost begin to use you right now. Tell God that “I am ready to receive. Get me ready like you got David and other apostle ready”
David met Saul in the cave one night while asleep. Saul was deeply asleep and David cut a portion of his garment off. While still there, God convicted him. You see, God does not need you to take vengeance on anybody. That is God’s job. That is the problem we have many times. We can have secret meetings against a leader because of his flaws. God does not want that. Church Gist. He wants you to bring whatever offence you have to him. Don’t take it to your neighbor or friends. Take it to God.
David moved out of that situation. Later on, he was on the field and he helped this lady and her husband with their sheep. So later he asked if he could get something to eat for him and his men. Church Gist. But the husband said, “I can’t feed everyone that comes begging here for food” So David was angry and he said to his men to pick up their weapons and follow him. The wife of the man Abigail got the word and quickly came to intercept them and pleaded with him. She brought them enough food to eat.
She said to David, “Don’t get a scar on your hand because of this man. She began to prophesy to David what God already had said that he has been anointed a ruler over Israel. I am telling you today, God has already prophesied over you. Church Gist. He is telling you that he has not forgotten what he said about you. It is your season; it is your time. You need to stir yourself up and say you believe it. Some days later, the Lord smote Nabal.
And David brought his condolences to Abigail and in the process married her. God blessed him again because all the wealth of the family of Nabal came to him. God knows how to bless you. He knows how to get the money to you. He only wants to know how committed and faithful you will be.
Finally, David came to Ziklag, the place was burnt down. His wife and all the kids gone. David inquired of the Lord, “Should I pursue, shall we overtake them?” And God said, “Surely you will overtake them” Without fear, he recovered all. I don’t want you to get only what you had, I want you to take everything. Church Gist. Don’t leave them with anything. David took back everything from the Amalekites including those things that were not his. He then sent portions to everyone in Judah. After God had trained him for those ten years of running, of hiding in the cave, David finally came to a day when the men of Judah came to him and he was anointed King over Judah.
God didn’t tell him how long it would take, he only told him that he has been anointed King over Israel. Notice, he is the King of Judah; there is still another part that God wants him to rule over. Church Gist. So, don’t think that God can’t give you a house after he has given you a car. You need to stay in there until he blesses you with everything. All you need to do is to believe that you are blessed at all times and everywhere you go.
2 Samuel 3:3-4
That was a long way for a boy watching over sheep. He came in as king eventually. Keep walking, keep believing. You have to tell yourself that you won’t let go until you are blessed. Church Gist. You may have gotten prophecies ten years ago, say to yourself it is time to hold on to it and make it come to pass. From this moment forward, God is going to elevate you to another level. You just make sure you mix all that you have heard with faith.
