Pastor E. A. Adeboye on Going Higher Part 1 at RCCG Special Sunday Service.

I am believing God that by the time we go into the new year we will be flying 1 Kings 17:1. When you go through the scriptures you will find two people who cheated death.

  • Enoch: Genesis 5:24. God took Enoch, he didn’t die.
  • Elijah: 2 Kings 2 :11. He went by a whirlwind to heaven. Elijah’s life just kept on going higher from multiplying the meal of a widow to being the first man to raise the dead until finally he flew to heaven Proverbs 13:20. Elijah was a nobody from the beginning. His father’s name was not mentioned. The Bible told us the father of the Blind beggar, Mark 10:46-52. How you start does not necessarily mean how you end. You may start very insignificant but you could end very high up. Job 8:7It doesn’t matter who you are now, by the time you are leaving this world, you will be great The parable of the mustard seed, Matthew 13:31-32. That tiny mustard seed can produce a mighty tree with many more mustard seeds that can produce many more mighty trees. A single mustard seed can produce might trees.

Examples of people who started small and became great:

  • Isaac: Isaac had two sons, in Genesis 25:21-26 they became twelve. In Genesis 35:22 they became seventy while in Genesis 46:27 they were six hundred plus. It doesn’t matter how small you are now, you will grow day by day.- David1 Samuel 16, David started as a shepherd boy. 1 Samuel 22:1-2 the Shepherd boy became a captain of four hundred men that later on became mighty men. In 2 Samuel 2:1-4 he became the King of Judah. In 2 Samuel 5:1-3 he became the King of Israel and ruled for decades. He kept on growing even after death, Mark 10:46-52.I want to make a special appeal to all those who know you and to you. To those who know you, you can begin to tell them, don’t write me off yet. I won’t be where l am today by the New Year because l am still alive Ecclesiastes 9:4Job 14:7-9More importantly, don’t write yourself off yet, there is hope for you, all is still going to be well Psalm 42:5. Anytime it seems like there is no hope, tell yourself one day l will praise God, one day my testimony will be complete. I am saying to everyone of you listening to me today, your tomorrow will be alright.

Sarah: Genesis 21:1-7, Sarah will still laugh. – Peter: Luke 5:1-11, Peter didn’t catch a single man when Jesus was here, he denied Christ. Peter wanted to go back fishing. None of you will ever go back. In John 21:1-17 God met him again and reconnected him to himself. He began to grow. Acts 3:1-8 he raised a lame man by the Beautiful Gate and he moved. In Acts 5:14-16 his shadow began to heal the sick. In Acts 32-42 he was healing people by speaking and raised the dead. He kept on going higher. There is only one prerequisite, your surrender to God must be total. You must place your life absolutely in the hand of God. 1 Kings 17:8-162 Kings 4:1-7John 6:2-13 Revelation 4:7-12It doesn’t matter how little you are, if only you get connected with the One with the key of David you can become a pillar in the house of God.

John Mark: Acts 15:37-40, He followed Paul and Barnabas, when he got to field and saw how difficult it was, he went back home. The next time they wanted to leave for another missionary journey, Paul refused to let him come with them. In 2 Timothy 4:11, Paul asked for John. That boy who failed in his first missionary journey wrote the book of Mark. It doesn’t matter how small you are now, you can become great.

Saul of Tarsus: In 1 Timothy 1:15, he went from the lowest of the chief of sinners to the highest level; chiefest Apostle in 2 Corinthians 11:5.

I want you to pray like David in Psalm 31:15. As you handover everything to Him, remember 1 Samuel 7;12 Ebenezer. Where you are today is only by His help. Remember His promise in Isaiah 46:3-4. Thank Him that thus far He has helped you and commit the future because He has been behind the scene and is willing to help you to the end.

I want to call on those who haven’t surrendered, if you want to grow higher, why don’t you surrender to Jesus Christ today. Wherever you are, bow your heads and cry unto Him and say Lord have mercy on me, save my soul and l will serve you for the rest of my life.
