One of the points shared at our first webinar is “SELF DISCIPLINE”.
You need self discipline to achieve your dreams or vision. There is this quote that goes like this – “Our dreams will only happen if we are committed to them”. This is so true! Commitment requires self discipline.
QUICK TIPS FOR SELF DISCIPLINE:
#1 Have a vision – we have said this many times. The vision you have in mind should drive your actions and habits. Focus on where you are going, that big picture and it will “automate” your actions overtime.
#2 Review your goals – Reviewing your goals daily or regularly has the power to keep that dream in your heart. This is why writing your goals down is a powerful action. When you hit an obstacle or challenge, go back to your goal and review it. This is one way to keep self discipline going. Remember what you can’t measure you can’t grow.
#3 Get Accountability – There is nothing better than having checks and balances in your life to keep you steady. Have someone on your side that can provide you with honest feedback. Don’t take it personally and get upset. Simply relax and review what they say and make the adjustments.
#4 Celebrate and Enjoy the Process – Self discipline can be very boring! I am sorry that is just true. Have you tried to detox before or go to the gym early in the morning: it is annoying. When we celebrate our daily accomplishments or tasks it gives you the energy to keep going. Find your own way to celebrate your wins. Even if it is sharing with your spouse, friend, mentor, accountability partner etc. Enjoy the process. For me, I like to tick things off my to-do list and it makes me very glad…lol
Try it and thank us later!
#5 Ask for help – Most of us do not like asking for help on our journey to success. We like to be “SELF MADE.” It is egotistical to think you do not need help and you do not want others to critique you. If you would like to rise above anything please, ASK FOR HELP OR ASK QUESTIONS. This can help you on your self discipline journey greatly. If you do not know, you act in ignorance.
I hope these tips help you in moving forward. Understand that self discipline is very crucial and can become a habit. Try and begin with little steps daily and record your progress.
You will be surprised how far you will go. Don’t go to the extreme. I didn’t really like reading many years ago but someone helped me by buying me a book, a small book…lol and I fell in love with reading again.
Please start where you are and don’t worry you will get there.
