- Pastor E. A. Adeboye at RCCG Special Sunday Service, Going Higher (Part 13)
1 Kings 17:7-9
We have talked about the Brook dried up, now we will focus our attention on the widow of Zarephath.
Things to note about the widow of Zarephath
- She was one out of many. Luke 4:25-26
I am praying for someone listening to me today, God will single you out for favour.
Why was she selected for this favour?
Why will God select you for divine favour? It wasn’t Elijah that needed help but the widow.
1 Kings 19:4-8, an angel brought food and water for Elijah.
The widow that was about to die with her son needed help desperately. Why was she selected?
Psalms 115:3
Psalms 24:7-10 Our God is the Commander in Chief, He decided what to do.
Ephesians 2:4
Romans 9:15-16
I pray for all you my children, may the Almighty God single you out for mercy.
The Bible says He can even choose who He will have mercy on even before they are born.
Romans 9:10-13.
Be grateful to God that He has been merciful unto you. Even though God is sovereign, He is not arbitrary
Acts 15:18
He knows the end from the beginning.
Genesis 25:29-34, God knew in advance what Esau would do.
- Who will God choose for mercy?
Matthew 5:7. Ask yourself, do I qualify for mercy?
Have you preached to your neighbors?
What efforts have you made to bring the Gospel to your village or town?
Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy. - Who will God choose for tremendous prosperity?
Isaiah 1:19, don’t let anyone tell you that there is no money in whatever land you are in, some people are building houses, buying cars and making billions out of the present national crisis. God is saying if you will obey me, you will eat the good of the land. - Who is going to be singled out for a miracle that will be known throughout history.
Luke 1:26-38, Mary. Why was Mary selected? Because she said God, let Your will be done. - Who is going to be chosen for uncommon promotion?
Psalms 75:5-6
1 Samuel 2:7-8
1 Samuel 16:1-13, David. Why was David anointed? Acts 13:21-22. - Who will God choose to become a blessing to the whole world?
Genesis 12:1-3, Abraham.
Galatians 3:8-14. Up till today, Abraham is still a blessing. Why did God choose him? Genesis 22:1-18, the God who knows the end from the beginning gave him a simple test.
Who will He choose to be a blessing to the whole world ? The one who will put God first. Make a first fruit offering to the Almighty God.
Suppose there are two or three people who are qualified and God has to choose only one, who will He choose?
Daniel 6:1-3
An excellent spirit was found in Daniel.
Suppose there are only two like Caleb and Joshua?
Numbers 13:25-33, Joshua wasn’t the first one to speak but Caleb. In Joshua 14:1-10, Joshua spoke and yet when God wanted to choose a successor for Moses in Joshua 1:1-8, He chose Joshua. In Joshua 14:6-14, Caleb came to Joshua to ask for permission.
In cases where God is looking for the best out of the best, I turn to God and I got the answer in Joshua 24:15.
God knows the end from the beginning. Are you going to be the one that God will choose?
What is your determination?
As for those of you who are not yet born again, the Almighty God is willing to choose you to be the first in your house to be saved so that you can become the instrument He will use to bring salvation to your family. That is what He did for me, the moment I was saved the hunger came and every member of my family must be true children of God. If you are not yet saved, come to Jesus today and He will turn you to a vessel unto honour. Wherever you are, cry to the Almighty God to save your soul and through you save your family. The rest of us who are already saved, cry to him to accept these souls and that you too will become a vessel unto honour.
The Almighty God will continue to use you for His glory!
Prayer Points
- Cry to the Almighty God and say please let me be the one that you will choose, even if you have to choose one out of two.
- Say, let me be a great vessel unto honour bringing salvation to every member of my family.
God will grant your request in Jesus name.
God Bless You
