5 REASONS TO EXERCISE EVEN IF YOU ARE A SLIM PERSON.
Generally, people associate exercise with weight loss and many slim people don’t see the need to engage in it. Others including slim people view exercise by slim people as either a waste of time or means for greater calorie consumption.
According to Myles Munroe of blessed memory, “when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” The benefits of exercising transcend beyond weight loss or weight gain and some of the reasons are as follows:
- Stronger Immune System
Regular exercise can significantly reduce your risk for disease. Exercise boosts your immune system so it makes you less susceptible to illnesses such as common cold, influenza and infections. Consequently in the long term, exercise can improve your health by lowering your risk for more serious diseases and conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even many types of cancer. Slim people are sometimes as likely to fall susceptible to these diseases and conditions without regular exercise as those who aren’t slim.
- Endurance and Strength
Against general opinion, slim people aren’t necessarily strong and healthy. In fact, they’re sometimes far from it. Regular exercise can build your strength and endurance.
In other words, you’ll get less fatigued from basic physical tasks, you’ll be able to walk or run for longer periods and greater distances and be more capable of lifting heavy items. You’ll also have more endurance for social activities such as sports, dancing and even walking through the street, sharing the good news of the gospel.
- A Natural Sleep Aid
After each workout session you may feel a bit exhausted, the fact is that working out can help everyone, including thin people, become less fatigued on the whole. People who work out regularly are able to sleep better and more regularly, making them feel more alert during the day thereby improving productivity.
- Reduced Risk for Depression and Anxiety
Slim people are just as likely to experience mental health challenges as people who struggle to maintain a thinner weight. Church Gist. Sometimes they’re even more likely, depending on the extent of their weight. Evidence exists that regular exercise can be used to combat mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety. Working out gives you the opportunity to take a break from stress and to relax.
The endorphins released in the brain during physical activity are also effective tools at combating sadness and anxiety.
- Keeps Weight Off
Some slim people can stay slim their entire lives due to fast metabolism. However, many people who are slim have faster metabolism when they are younger and find that their metabolism slow down as they age. They can no longer eat whatever they want and not gain weight. Working out regularly now can keep potential weight gain from occurring.
You can start today and make exercise an important part of your life now, your present and future self will thank you.
Remember, your body must be maintained for the Master’s use:
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
