“Faith is an operation in risk, a risk that is taken because of what God has said. It is the mindset that knows no failure, a mindset that finds a need and meets it, a mindset that finds a pain and provides a cure and a mindset that finds a hole and fills it” – Reverend Omar Akpona.
The above statement encapsulates the humble beginning of House of Grace Church, Lagos, headquartered in the bustling city of Lagos at 30, Oba Elegushi Street, Ikate, Lekki. Founded in 1997, in the apartment of a young couple, Pastors Omar Akpona and Jane Pela, just 2 years after their marriage. With a passion to serve and build the saints in the Word of God, Pastor Omar Akpona has been active in evangelism since the age of 16, though he got born again at the age of 14, while his wife left her banking career to join her husband in full time ministry.

The Church’s vision is to be a growing, dynamic, vibrant and unified body of believers glorifying God by proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and building loving relationships through the power of the Holy Spirit, for the maturing of those who believe in the salvation of the lost.

House of Grace Church, Lagos also holds an annual Believers camp meeting in Badagry, Nigeria, during Easter with the first meeting in 2000 as part of her mission in teaching disciples to win others for Christ while ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of all people. She is also actively involved in developing and establishing health and social programs in under-served communities aimed at building faith; to share the message of peace, justice; the integrity of creation through God, Christ and the Holy Spirit.

In tandem with her commitment to making people all they want to be in God and aligning them with God’s plans and purposes for their lives; in spite of the lock down, the Church continues to reach out through her online services with Church activities such as Battle Axe (a group for teenagers), Men Fellowship (for married men), Women Fellowship (for married women), Impact (a group for students in tertiary institutions), Graceville, Zenith Fellowship (for unmarried, white collared job holders) conducted majorly via Zoom meeting rooms with her mandate to hand over a baton of thriving influence to the next generation so as to ensure they excel where this generation might have faltered.

Presently the Church has branches in the United States and the United Kingdom with a purpose for people to know God and love people while serving excellently.
