Father of fathers, the Father of all mothers, the Father of all children, the Saviour of the whole world. The One who can do what nobody else can do, the God of miracle signs and wonders. Glory be to your holy name, father accept our worship in Jesus name. Thank you for what you did in January, Thank you for what you did in February, Thank you for what you did last month, and thank you for what you will do today. Lord accept our thanks in Jesus name. Lord in a very special way in all our lives tonight, let there be miracles, let there be signs and let there be wonders. Let your name be glorified in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Isaiah 8:18
I will just want to define signs and wonders in the language of a market woman that even illiterates will understand. Signs and wonders simply mean evidence, proof. In 2 Kings 20:1-11, where God told Hezekiah that he will live and not die. Church Gist. I decree tonight to all the children that you shall live and not die. Hezekiah requested from the Prophet “give me a sign” give me proof, give me evidence that I am going to live another 15 years. God gave him a son and the son went backwards instead of forward for a certain period of time.
A wonder like somebody said is that which causes you to wonder, it is that which causes you to open your mouth involuntarily and find it difficult to close. A wonder is a happening beyond expectation, beyond imagination. Like Daniel 6:19-27 tells us that a man spent a night in the den of hungry lions and came out alive, that is a wonder. In the testimonies we heard tonight, there were so many wonders. A woman had been barren for 32 years and God answered her. That is a wonder. Church Gist. A boy spent 30 minutes inside a river, could not be found but the ocean vomited the child. That is a wonder. I am beginning to sense that because so many great testimonies are happening among us we are no longer paying attention to them, I don’t know how anybody could hear any of these testimonies and remain seated. When you see what only the Almighty God can do. If you stay in the river for 5 minutes you are supposed to die, a boy stayed for 30 minutes and came out alive.
Children are evidence that God is a miracle working God. That God is a covenant keeping God, that God is the defender of the defenceless, that God is a burden bearer. When they brought children to Him and the adults were sending them away, the children were defenceless and Jesus turned around and rebuked those people. He defended them.
- The defender of the defenceless will defend somebody here tonight.
He carried them in his arms, He can carry you and carry your sorrow. He can carry you and carry your burdens provided you make yourself as little as a child. When I lost my son last year and I was deeply in sorrow, I got a text from one of my daughters that turned the tides, what she wrote was simply “Daddy let God carry you”. That changed everything. Is anybody here tonight with any problem? May the almighty God carry you.
Not only did He carry them, but He also laid his hands on them in love. Children are evidence that God is a God of love. We know that if He loves you, you become more than a conqueror. Church Gist. I have always said it and when I say it people argue with me. God loves me more than anybody else. Do you believe that? If I say that to you, what do you reply? We all agree that God loves every one of us. From children we see the evidence that it doesn’t matter the forces against us, we shall overcome them.
Tonight, I want to look at some children in the Bible that are clear signs from God.
Let me start with Isaac, Isaac is evidence that God can reverse the irreversible. By the time the mother conceived him, the mother’s womb had already died. Genesis 21:1-7. Who would have believed that Sarah will have a son, that is why they name him Isaac –“God made me laugh”. I pray for you that in all your homes there will be constant laughter. Jacob is a sign that God can love you even before you were born. Romans 9:10-13 tells us that before Jacob was born God had already said “Jacob I love”. Church Gist. Joseph is a sign that when God gives you a dream, the dream no matter how ridiculous will come to pass. In Genesis 37:5-11, Joseph had a set of dreams. In the first dream, he saw all his brothers coming to bow before him. It was a very ridiculous dream, particularly if you follow the story of how he was sold into slavery, thrown in prison, and those who he thought will help him forgot him. In Genesis 50:15-22, the Bible says that when his father died, his brother came and fell down before him and said we are your servants. Let me use the language of my children.
- I decree and declare in the name that is above every other name that every dream God has given to you will come to pass.
Samuel is evidence that out of a barren womb can come a prophet. 1 Samuel 3:19-20. Not only did he become a prophet, but he also became the first kingmaker in Israel. Out of a barren womb can come a prophet, can come a kingmaker. John the Baptist is evidence that a child can be a latecomer. Church Gist. John the Baptist was first born but his parents were very old. In Matthew 11:11 Jesus himself said of all men there has never arisen a greater than John the Baptist. You can be a latecomer to the world and that does not mean you will end little. I decree to all my children that none of you will end small.
Let us go to wonder, I will just give 2 examples of children that are wonders. Samson in Judges 13:1-25.
- The Lord asked me to tell someone that because of your children I will show you mercy.
When Samson was about to be conceived an angel came and told the parents that they were about to have a child who will begin to deliver the nation. Allow me to decree that among those who are here tonight there will be national leaders. By the time you read Judges 15:11-16, you see a man using the jawbone of an ass to kill a thousand soldiers of the enemy. Church Gist. That is a wonder. It is a wonder because if a hundred people rush at a man even if he is carrying an AK-47, he might be able to shoot and kill 10 of them before the others will pull him down. In this case a thousand people. Ask yourself the question: what were they looking at when he was pulling them down? It is because God wants to give us an example of a wonder. Before the end of this year, one of your children will achieve a wondrous feat.
I take another example of wonder and that will be Mary, when you read Luke 1:26-38, you see a girl receiving a unique miracle. Not only is the miracle unique, but it is also unique forever. There have been testimonies of the barren consuming, testimonies of the dead being raised etc. When you hear one today, you hear another one tomorrow. We have heard of someone who was barren for 32 years. It is most likely that before the end of the year you will hear something bigger than it. Only once have we ever heard of a virgin conceiving. It is a wonder of all ages. I pray for someone here today that the day you share your testimony everyone will stand and shout.
Then we have children who are a combination of sign and wonder. Maybe I will take just 2 because of time.
Solomon, when you read 2 Samuel 12:24-25, the Bible said that when Solomon was born God loved him. That is a sign that God can love unconditionally, the father had just committed adultery, and the mother was an adulteress of the worst type that led to the death of her husband. The two of them met and gave birth to a boy and the Bible says that God loves him. I am sure I have told you before that when I got that passage I had to ask God “Daddy please don’t be angry, I am your son. I just don’t understand this one. How can you love this fellow”. Then he asked me a question: Is your mother the first wife of your father? I said no more questions. I shut my mouth immediately. God can love the unlovable. Some of you are born angels, you have been holy since you were born but there are people like me who were rotten until God found us and saved our souls. Solomon is a sign that God can love the unlovable. Then he was also a wonder. He was a wonder because when God asked him to ask for something, he asked for wisdom. Church Gist. If this fellow who didn’t have wisdom had enough sense to offer a thousand burnt offerings and God asked him what do you want? He said he wanted wisdom and God gave him wisdom, understanding and wealth beyond imagination. Gave him peace all the days of his life. Solomon was a wonder. There might be one or two wonders here, I am one of them. I have told you before that the day my father bought an umbrella, we celebrated in my family. I have told you before that for the first 18 years of my life I had no shoes but look at me today. It shows that when God wants to be wonderful, he can choose anyone. Solomon, the son of a terrible condition, was loved by the time he was born and he became a wonder.
The other fellow I will mention who is a combination of a sign and a wonder is the Lord Jesus Himself, when you look at Luke 1:26-37, He was born of a virgin.
- Daddy says stars differ from stars in glory. He asked me to tell someone that the glory of your son will be the greatest among the stars.
Jesus is a sign that there is nothing God cannot do. There is one word that doesn’t exist in the dictionary of God and that is the word impossible. Those of you who are close to me and work with me have found out over time that I too don’t want to hear the word impossible. When we came here, one young man got born again. He said he wanted to bring his friends for the Convention that was one week away, so he said where am I going to house them?. The dormitories in those days were like chicken pens. Just put some wood in the ground, put roof and build walls a meter high and complete the rest with mosquito net. But he was a big man, he looked at the dormitory and said “not me”. Church Gist. I said to him we will build you a house if you bring the money. He said in seven days? That’s impossible. I said you have mentioned the wrong word. Seven days later the house was ready. All the engineers said that the house won’t last. It has had no crack from 1983 till now. We built another one that is a storey building in 18 days. Go to the school that they call R.H.S. you will find the building there, no crack all these years. Is there anything in your life that is looking impossible? As the Lord lives, by the Holy Ghost Service next month, you will share your testimony? Jesus is a sign that there is nothing impossible with God.
Jesus of course is a wonder, I don’t need to tell you that. You have to be a wonder to raise somebody who has been dead for four days. John 11:39-44. Lazarus had been dead for four days, He spoke a word, He didn’t go into the tomb or laid hands on him. He spoke a word and the dead came out completely alive. Church Gist. I speak a word to your life right now that every good thing that the devil has killed will come back to life today. Jesus is a wonder, He was submissive to death. He said in John 10:15-18, he said nobody took my life from me. I laid it down on my own accord because my father loves me as a wonder. He is a wonder because he got a name that is above every other name Philippians 2:5-11.
- The Lord asked me to tell someone don’t worry your labour over your children will not be in vain.
- The Lord said the fellow concerned with this particular one will understand. He asked me to tell you, don’t worry I will rebuild.
Let’s look at just one parent who was a sign and a wonder before his children followed in his footsteps. David was a sign that when God decides to promote you it will be without an end. God can promote you continuously forever. In 1 Samuel 16:11-13, Samuel came to Jesse’s house to anoint a king. Nobody even bothered to call him but God had decided who the king was, so they went to call him from the bush. Some people never think you can become anything but in the name that is above every other name you will shock them. Church Gist. Then we move on to 2 Samuel 2:1-4, David became King of Judah. When we get to 2 Samuel 5:1-3, David became King over the whole nation of Israel. Then we move on to Mark 10:46-52, the Bible said that Bartimaeus said Jesus, son of David. David moved from being a king among his brethren to becoming a king over Judah, to becoming a king over Israel, and to becoming the Father of the King of Kings. Your promotion begins tonight and it will continue steadily until we see Jesus in glory.
David was a wonder, you all know the boy who used a catapult to kill Goliath. In the cave of Adullam, he was a captain over a set of vagabonds and turned them into a sign and a wonder. No wonder that Solomon coming after him became a sign and a wonder too.
There are two kinds of signs and two kinds of wonders – Good signs and evil wonders. That is why the Bible started by saying I and then my children. Meaning if I have good signs and good wonders, your children also will be good signs and wonders. Let’s take the example of Abraham. God said in Genesis 18:17-19, can I hide anything from Abraham knowing that this man is going to guide his children in the way of the Lord. Abraham was a good sign that the Almighty God can reverse the irreversible. He can make the old young again. Abraham is a sign that the Almighty God is faithful, that when He makes promises He will fulfil them. Abraham was a wonder, if you want to know how wondrous he is read Genesis 14, you will see when the enemy captured his relative Lot. His servants alone were enough to form an army that rescued Lot from those who captured him. Church Gist. Abraham was a good sign and a wonder. Then you will notice what followed in Genesis 22:1-18, because Abraham was a sign and a wonder he trained Isaac in the way of the Lord. On their way to the mountain, it was Isaac who reminded the Father that they can’t go to worship God without an offering. At the end of the day, God blessed Abraham and multiplied his children. When the Father is a good sign and good wonder, the children will automatically become good sign and good wonder.
There is another side of the story in 2 Kings 5:20-27, Gehazi saw his master was more interested in being a vessel unto honour in the hand of God than in money but he wasn’t interested. Gehazi is a sign that it is possible for someone to be sleeping and waking up with miracles and not be interested at all. Gehazi is a sign that we see in the world today of many people who call themselves servants of God who are in it for nothing more than the money. As it was then, it is now. He became a wonder because instead of getting a double portion of anointing, he got leprosy. The Bible says that as soon as the master finished speaking he got leprosy immediately. One moment he was going into the presence of his master, the next moment he was coming out with leprosy. Church Gist. The Bible said the leprosy of Namaan will cleave unto Gehazi and his seed forever. Who you are plays a great role in what your children will become. If you are an evil sign and wonder, God has mercy on your children unless God in his mercy comes in through another means and gets those children born again, they will suffer because of you. Before many of us became born again, we were suffering under curses placed on us by grandfathers and grandmothers, or great grandparents but God took us out of that line of curses and made us blessed. Deuteronomy 30:19-20.
Prayer Points
- Thank God for every child.
- Father, please remember those who don’t have children yet tonight. So that by this time next year, they will bring their own children.
- Father, in your mercies, terminate every generational curse that is still destroying my family tonight. Please help me to bring salvation to every member of my family.
- Father, turn me into a sign to my generation and a wonder to the world.
- Father, turn my children to signs and wonders (for those with children). Father turn my brothers and sisters into signs and wonders (for those without children).
- Before the end of this month, there will be something in our lives that will be a good wonder to the world.
