Father almighty you’re worthy to be praised, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the unchangeable changer thank you, thank you for thus far you’ve helped us, thank you because our future is in your hand, please accept our thanks in Jesus’ name, having helped us thus far we are sure that you will help us till the very end. So, all your children who are listening to your Word today, please let their future be alright, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.
Well, let someone shout Hallelujah.
We are continuing with our series “GOING HIGHER” now we are in part 58, GOING HIGHER (58), our text today will be 1st Kings 19:15-17. Well, in the past weeks we have been talking about God asking Elijah some questions, Elijah why are you here? Elijah, what are you doing here? The teacher asking the student questions, not because the teacher doesn’t know the answer but wanting to hear what the student has to say. Elijah had answered, he had told God that: well, I am here because your people have forsaken you, I am the only Prophet left and they even want to kill me. ChurchGist. Finally, it is now God’s turn to respond and what God said is loaded with meaning, God said I see, that’s why you’re here, ok, alright prophet, will you please be ready to do some anointing services for me, I want you to anoint two Kings, one Hazael, anoint him to be king over Syria and Jehu, I want you to anoint him to be King over Israel and by the way some 40 days ago or so you told me you don’t want to continue, you ask me to kill you, well before you die, since you don’t want to continue, I think we better make arrangement for your replacement, so you have to anoint another prophet to take over from you.
Well, probably we will stay our discussion on this segment of our study, by looking at anointing. Anointing can be in degrees, by the way I hope you know that anointing is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a person, anointing is what flows from the Holy Spirit. ChurchGist. There is an anointing for healing of the sick. Mark 16:18. Almighty Jesus Christ told his disciple after he has gotten all powers in heaven and on Earth, He said from now on, you go ahead and lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, Mark 16:18.
In 1st Corinthians 12:9. The Apostle Paul, revealed to us that healing the sick is a gift from the Holy Spirit, as a matter of fact He said there are gifts of healing, not just one, gifts of healing and he corrected himself or shall we say he explained more clearly by saying in 1st Corinthians 12:28. He said there are gifts of healings, that is sicknesses and diseases differ and the gifts that you need to do the healings are also in different forms, for example when someone has fever, the anointing to heal fever is not exactly the anointing required to heal cancer, the two are different. So, healing for headaches cannot be the same as healing for hypertension, so there are gifts for healings. ChurchGist. My prayer for those of you who have been going higher over these long periods of time is that the almighty God will make available to you all the gifts of healings.
There is anointing for performing miracles. 1st Corinthians 12:10. Paul also told us that there is a gift from the Holy Spirit for the working of miracles. ChurchGist. When we talk about miracles; miracles are also in categories, some miracles are more spectacular than others. Acts 5:12-16. When the Church began to grow, the Bible says many miracles were performed by the hands of the apostles, however they singled out Peter that in his own case his shadow was healing the sick and casting out demons, miracles differ.
You know that during Holy Ghost services or Church services and somebody gets up and he gives a testimony and when he finishes, he says praise the Lord, the Hallelujah is low and yet some will give a testimony and he doesn’t have to say praise the Lord when everybody will be jumping up and shouting hallelujah. ChurchGist. The one who said that he was travelling in a car and the tires burst and the car Somersaulted 4 times and he comes out without a scratch, the Halleluyah will be great no doubt.
But when a brother gets up and he shows you that robbers shot him 6 times and he shows you the dress he was wearing and you see the bullet holes coming in through the dress and going out at the back of the dress showing that the bullet pass through him and he didn’t shed a drop of blood, nobody has to tell you to shout and clap, miracles are in categories. ChurchGist. As a matter of facts in Acts 19:11-12. The Bible says God performed special miracles by the hand of Paul. So, there are miracles and there are special miracles, I pray in the name that is above all name whatever kind of miracle you need, get it today in Jesus’ name.
Then there is the miracle or the anointing for killing, I am sure that will surprise you; you have heard of anointing for healing, that’s wonderful but now anointing for killing. You see, the truth of the matter is that healing involves killing. Matthew 15:13. Jesus Christ said every plant my Father has not planted shall be rooted out. ChurchGist. When you heal somebody, whose sickness has been caused by a virus, the virus must die. Every sickness is caused one way or the other by a stranger in the body, something that should not be there, that is there that is causing the trouble, that thing must die. When we talk about killing it’s a matter of what it is that dies, what is it that is killed. Acts 5:1-11. The Church of God was young and all of a sudden, the devil tried to introduce hypocrisy into the Church through a husband and a wife called Ananias and Sapphira, the two of them were killed right inside the Church.
1st Kings 18:40. When Elijah had prayed, fire had fallen and the Nation had fallen on his face saying Jehovah is God, Elijah said catch every prophet of Baal and kill them. Why? So, they don’t start the trouble for the Nation again, they were the cause of absence of rain for three and a half years, we leave them they will continue to do evil. ChurchGist. Everything that is going to hinder your progress after God has delivered you from such things, they should die. 2nd Kings 4:38-41. The children of the sons of prophet were about to eat, they have prepared food, unknowingly one of the sons of the Prophet had gone out trying to gather some help to put in to the food to make it more palatable, unknowing to him he gathered poisonous herbs and mixed it with the thing, when it was time to eat, the sons of the prophet discovered that there was death in the pot and when they called on Elisha (and we will be talking about Elisha one of these days) he asked them to bring him some flowers, he took the flowers in his hands and then spread it on the pot and the poison died.
I pray this morning any poison in your system will die, there is an anointing for killing, whatever God has to cure so that you can continue to live healthy, strong, progressing without any hindrance, whatever God has to kill must be killed today.
There is an anointing for multiplication. 1st Kings 17:8-16. When Elijah came to the house of the widow of Zarephath, she had only 1 meal left but through the anointing of the man who came visiting, that one meal lasted for more than three years because the food was multiplied every day. ChurchGist. 2nd Kings 4:1-7. When the widow of one of the sons of prophet was heavily in debt, he ran to Elisha for help, he told her gather empty vessel, the little bottle of oil you have keep pouring, she did and they oil kept on flowing, kept on increasing until there was no room to contain more than he stopped. John 6:5-13, when the Lord wanted to feed a crowd and there was no food to feed them, just the lunch of a small boy, that little lunch kept on multiplying until everyone was fed and there were 12 baskets left over, there is an anointing for multiplication.
Acts 2:1-41. Peter preached a sermon after the day of the Holy Ghost, after the day of Pentecost and the Church grew 120 to 3,120 in one day, that’s multiplication, that’s not addition. So, I am praying for every one of you listening to me today, by the unction of the Holy Spirit on me it will multiply, then there is anointing for fruitfulness. 1st Samuel 1:9-20. ChurchGist. Hannah who had been going to Shiloh for years contacted the anointing on Eli, go, the God of Israel grants your request, that’s all the man of God said, that very night God answered Hannah, it wasn’t long before the woman who was considered barren became the mother of not just one but six, because after she brought the first one to the man of God, the man of God said God will give you more.
There is anointing for fruitfulness. 2nd Kings 4:8-17. The Bible tells us that when the shunammite woman took care of Elisha, Elisha said to her one day, within a year you will carry a son, there were argument, she said hey you’ve eaten why don’t you go but the anointing in Elijah had gone forth and nine months later the woman was carrying a son. Luke 5:1-7. Peter had fished all night and hath caught nothing, all his efforts were fruitless until the almighty God stepped into his boat and with one word, the man who was considered a failure had so much fish that he needed somebody else to help him carry the excess. ChurchGist. May I decree in the name of the one who called me, fruitless effort will end in your life today.
Then, there is the anointing for controlling the Heavenlies, there is an anointing that can control the Heavenlies, not just what happens here. Joshua 10:10-12. Joshua said sun stay where you’re, moon don’t move any further and according to the Word of God, it was so for a whole day. 1st Kings 17.1. Elijah said if I shut the Heavens, there will be no rain until I call for it again. 1st Kings 18:31-39. There is an anointing for calling down fire and then of course there is the anointing for bringing down rain again, there is an anointing for reversing what you have already decreed, that is another kind of anointing. ChurchGist. It will be of interest to you before I begin to move to a close for today’s sermon, that the anointing for destroying is not even necessary as big as the anointing for constructing, I am sure you know yourself that it could take you years to build a house but it can take a caterpillar minutes to pull down the building, I’ll give you just one example, just one word from Elisha, Naaman go to Jordan dip yourself seven times and Naaman and had to deep himself 7 times before he was cleanse but the same man now said to Gehazi 2nd Kings 5:20-27. The leprosy of Naaman will cleave on you and within seconds he became a leper as white as snow.
I don’t know which of the anointings you want, since we are going higher, I believe you will think about that and know what to pray about today. ChurchGist. But really the crucial issue in the passage we have read is that God was telling Elijah it is time for your anointing to overflow, there is an overflowing anointing. Psalm 23:5. Thou anointed my head with oil, my cup runneth over. I am praying for every child of God listening to me today, your anointing will begin to overflow.
As for those of you who are yet to give your life to Jesus Christ and you’ve been hearing if anointing and you want anointing, the journey to anointing begins with repentance. Acts 2:37-39. Peter said repent and be baptized and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ChurchGist. So, if you repent of your sinful ways, if you will surrender your life to Jesus Christ, after that you submit yourself to baptism, then you can call on God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and once you have that, anointing can begin to flow through you. So, if you want to give your life to Jesus Christ, will you please bow your head now and I will pray for your salvation if you call on the almighty God and say: Lord, please save my soul, I want to be one of yours and I am hungry for your anointing.
