I’m so glad to continue this series titled EKKLESIA. When we say Ekklesia we are talking about the Church but actually the direct translation of the word Ekklesia means to be called out once and that is what the Church is, we are supposed to be in this world but not a part of this world, we are the called out once, we are called out of this natural world and the way it actually describes it (Ekklesia) is in a more political term than a religious term. ChurchGist. We are at a time when people are collecting presidential forms and all of that, so they understand politics, so people are in sects, people are in fractions, people are in groups that are favouring different people, that is what Ekklesia is about.
It’s about a group of people called out to rule on behalf of someone, called out to protect the interest of the Kingdom of Heaven, right here on the Kingdom of the earth. Alright, you need to understand this, you’re not just a person here on the earth trying to survive, that has been our problem, the large part of people in Churches are just trying to survive and that’s not what it is. ChurchGist. The same thing is even affecting us in terms of government, that’s why Christians have not pulled themselves together the way they ought to shake the politics of our country. Because the average person in the Church is still praying for bread and butter, he doesn’t understand his role, you’re called into the Senate, you’re called into the House of Representatives.
So, you’re not just a normal person, you’re a person called out by another person to protect the interest of your Kingdom. The guys in the Senate and House of Representatives, they are supposed to protect their own natural Kingdom. ChurchGist. So, if you come from Lagos State and you’re in the Senate, you’re supposed to be speaking about Lagos State, considering how things affect everybody in where you’re coming from. But for us it’s very similar, we are called out of this natural world to sit in the governmental board to protect the interest of our Kingdom which is the Kingdom of God, is some getting what I am saying, oh I pray that a generation will arise that understands that bread and butter is not why we are here. If it’s bread and butter then let Jesus just take us home, there is nothing you’re doing here, to be suffering stress on this earth is too much just to survive, we are just going from one problem to another. You’ll pray oh God give me marriage, then oh God give me children and then oh God give me house, you just keep begging, that’s not what this is about.
I am so sad when I see how an average Christian thinks and how an average APC member thinks and how the average PDP members think, those guys are dividing the country, they see the country as their possession. ChurchGist. But we are still praying for them to give us small bread inside their country, that’s not what Ekklesia is meant to be, I pray that we will be able to rise and take our place in the grand scheme of things, Ekklesia is a group of people called out to rule and to protect the interest of the Kingdom of our God right here in the Kingdom of men. Common say with me Ekklesia.
That is exactly what we are; we are a group of people called out of this natural world to protect Heaven’s interest. Very important! We are a governmental body, we are supposed to be a governmental assembly thinking beyond bread and butter but thinking about policies, thinking about things that will affect the larger population of people, instead of just focusing on our own prayer point, focusing on our own prayer point is so sad, it is so annoying. When I hear what the average Christian describes as prayers, what he sees as prayers, it is about bread. ChurchGist. The Lord’s prayer is the perfect example of prayer, that prayer is not really for us to repeat word for word, No! No! It is a structure of prayer.
Our Father who hath in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, start with worship, start with the focus on the father, then it begins to go into: Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, do you see how prayers goes, it start from things like that before you now start to get to give us our daily bread, that is down the line, you first deal with the father, deal with the Kingdom, deal with His will, you see that is what real prayer is, but the bulk of my country is focused on a bread and butter system. ChurchGist. When they do palliatives, it is not for the people in the Senate, it is people in the Senate that gives the palliatives to the poor, the people in the Senate House are not the one collecting palliatives, when they are giving #5,000 to help business people, it’s not people in the Senate that is collecting that one, it is for the poor masses, the people in the Senate are the one deciding what happens to the poor masses. So, when you go to the bread and butter aspect of prayer and go and live there, you have detached yourself from people deciding the governmental issues.
I’m praying, I’m hoping that a time will come when millions of Christians will gather to pray online and it will be about taking the Nation, not about taking biscuits because this is what we do in most cases, praying for healing, what did the Bible says about healing, it says it’s the children’s bread, bread and butter. ChurchGist. When they say give us our daily bread, they are talking about everything governed, every natural sustenance, is in God and it’s yours already.
You remember the story of the woman whose daughter was sick, as she was disturbing the master for healing and they said: Tell this woman not to disturb us again and all that. Matthew 15:22-28. And the said it’s not yet time for people outside to partake of the commonwealth of Israel, you know I can’t take what belongs to children and give it to dogs, the Bible says healing is the Children’s bread, healing is not even for the adult, it’s for the children’s, adult are talking about divine health, adult know their right, they know their place, they take their authority, they are talking about divine help. ChurchGist. So, it’s even children (people that just joined the Kingdom) that we should be ministering healing to but unfortunately the bulk of my Country is into bread and butter prayer, when are we going to take Governments, when are we going to take Cities, when are we going to take the world, the thing you pray for, a common unbeliever will not even bother to pray for it because he can handle it, he has enough resources to handle them even naturally. Yet, we are still queuing up to beg for bread and butter. Oh, may God help my Country, may God help the Body of Christ in Nigeria, that we will grow one day beyond the bread and butter level, the Bible says healing is the children’s bread, it’s for children.

So, Ekklesia is talking about the group of people that has been called out by God to protect Kingdom interest. Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done. We are enforcing Heavens Kingdom wherever we are, wherever we go, that’s what it is about, prayer is all about begging God for what He has already given, there is nothing you want to pray for that He hasn’t provided, he has already given you; you coming to pray for it again is just a sign of you being a child in the things of God. ChurchGist. When you become an adult in the things of God, you begin to take what is yours, you begin to make decrees, you begin to not just take for yourself, you take for others because you’re going to make decrees. Is somebody getting what I’m saying this morning?

Ekklesia, the called-out ones to rule and reign. The Bible says I have made you Kings and Priests to reign on the earth. Revelation 5:10. ChurchGist. I said it before, the large system of what we are organizing as Christianity is still that high priest system, where there is one powerful man of God and the rest of us are just there begging, you can pray too, God is hearing you, you’re a citizen of Heaven, you’re in the Senate of God.

So, we began to look at it, Ekklesia is referring to the Church of God here on the earth and we said there are 5 major purposes of the Church on the earth, we’ve established that
1) Worship
2) Fellowship
3) Discipleship
4) Evangelism
5) Ministry
There is no other institution focused on these things, this is why don’t let anybody tell you: we don’t need churches, we definitely need churches. ChurchGist. Churches are the only people interested in these things that I mentioned and we also established last week that the Church is the ground and the pillar of truth, because in every generation, the truth will want to begin to shift, they always want to shift the truth but when we have scriptures, when we have the Church, the Church can stand as the ground and pillar of truth. Do you see the kind of things God has in mind for the Church? It’s not bread and butter. Bread and butter are secondary, we are supposed to be speaking about societal change, about taking over territories.

This morning we are going to move it forward to some of the things that we can do or we should be doing as members of this parliament, as members of the house. Psalm 133:1-end. The Bible says when the brethren gathered together in unity, there is an unusual force of blessing. When it spoke about the dew of Hermon and all that, it is describing a place whereby in every season there is dew and that’s not normal because in some other place, it is so dry that there is no dew but this mountain it is describing here, it always has dew supernaturally, unusually. So, the Bible is saying that there is an unusual blessing upon every house which is both the individual house like DCC and RCCG and co and also the entire Body of Christ, God wants us to dwell in unity and in harmony. ChurchGist. That is where God commands His blessings. So, our unity is important, it’s time to start challenging people that still acts like children in the Body of Christ to become adult, that is why we are doing a series like this, it’s not everything that will be focused on you getting blessed, we will always be blessed, in fact you’re already blessed, it’s time for us to know talk about how you can take your place, we need to challenge you into adulthood, you need to take your place in the things of God.
There is a unique blessing, if we dwell together in unity, the things we will achieve together will be greater than whatever we will achieve as individuals. The only challenge is that many people think that unity is automatic, they don’t realize that actually unity requires constant tolerance of your brothers and sisters, unity requires maturity. Unity requires you being able to give allowance for your brothers and sisters, unity requires you to be tolerant of your brothers and sisters, that is what unity requires. ChurchGist. So, we have so many people in Churches but there is little unity, everybody has their own desires, everybody has their own dreams, everybody has the things they want to do different from what the body wants to do.
Whenever you belong to a house, you must become a full part of that house, when you say you’re a member of DCC, you must be a full member of DCC, you must be 100 per cent committed, that’s how the blessing will come upon all of us, you must make sure you’re not the person dragging people to another direction, you must make sure you’re not the person always having a contrary views, contrary opinions to whatever the house is doing and that takes disciple, that takes commitment, it doesn’t happen automatically, you won’t always feel like. It’s not everything the Church wants to do or is trying to do that will sit well with you. ChurchGist. Unity is not automatic, unity is deliberate, that means you consciously yield yourself.
The same thing applies to family life, husbands and wives will not always see things the same way, so we normally say, good couples are compatible by chance but great couples are compatible by choice. ChurchGist. Do you get that? That means they decide to work together as a team, so they are not just waiting to only do things together when they both see things eye to eye, No! It’s normal for people to see things differently but understanding the power of unity as a member of any Church you attend, your job is to protect the unity of that Church, make sure nobody uses you to separate that Church, to be in different faction to the Church, there are some Churches that are like mad houses, the pastor is going this way, Deacons are going that way, workers are going the other way, no unity. We can be 1 million people, if there is no unity, we are all useless to ourselves, we will never achieve anything God wants us to achieve. Genesis 11: 1-9. This is the best story about unity, it says they were of one voice, one language, God said as long as you people remain one, nothing will be impossible to them as long as they remain one. So, we must work in unity.
There are many ways you protect the unity of your Church:
1) BY REFUSING TO GOSSIP.
This is one of the best ways to protect the unity in your Church.
2) BY ALWAYS PARTICIPATING IN WHATEVER THE CHURCH DOES.
If the Church says we are playing football, if we are united, God will bring glory via that football. So, don’t say this thing they are doing. I don’t care be interested in everything the Church is doing, it’s not all that will interest you but you can be interested. ChurchGist. Sometimes the Church wants to focus on children, sometimes the Church wants to focus on teenagers, for example camp David is coming soon our camp for teenagers, everybody in the Church needs to start advertising it, start posting it, start looking for teenagers around you, start looking for your uncle, your aunt that have teenagers as kids.
People come for this Camp David outside Lagos, from other Churches, it’s a camp for teenagers, it is a good place for them to encounter God. So, don’t say I am not even married, what concerns me and Camp David, you’re missing the point, you must participate in everything, when we do something for adults we participate. ChurchGist. When we do Caleb fellowship (for 60 and above) don’t say I’m still young, you will end up in Caleb’s category one day, we are all going to end up there one day.

So, by refusing to gossip, because gossip has a way that it begins to dissect and divides the Church, so this person said that person said, in the end I will talk about how to deal with issues, because in every organization of group of people there will always be issues, people will have drama, but there are stipulated scriptural ways to deal with challenges and gossip is not one of it, when somebody does something wrong and you’re gossiping about it, you too you’ve done something wrong. So, you’re no better than the person you’re gossiping about, very important. ChurchGist. So, number one by refusing to gossip and spreading the bad laws that are within the Church, that one is so common, some of you, it’s even in your house that people will come and sit down to talk about what is wrong with Church, as long as it’s human beings that is in the organization, there will be issues, it happens in every organization.
There is no Church you’re going in this earth that you won’t see issues, forget whatever anybody is telling you, when you stay in that Church long enough, you’ll start seeing the trouble makers in the Church, you’ll start seeing the carnal Christians in the Church, you’ll start seeing the ones that borrow money from everybody and run away, you’ll start seeing those that are sleeping around. You’ll see them, they are in every church and they were in the Church in the Bible time, there was a guy in Corinthians that slept with his father’s wife, it was in the letters, that means everybody knew the story, we are even part of the story now. ChurchGist. Anywhere there is human beings there must be accommodation for that, so make sure you’re not the one Satan wants to use to start spreading the news, the negative story, come and hear and when people bring those stories to you warn them, that don’t ever in your life bring such story to me again. Spirit of gossip wants to divide; it doesn’t want to build.
Number 2, make sure you participate in whatever the Church is doing, whether it concerns you or not. Ephesians 4:16. Everybody inside the body contributes something. We are the body He has edified; He has built up, my question to you is that what are you supplying? You’re a part of the joint, what are you supplying? Do you know that every part of your body has what it’s doing? Every part of your body has a work no matter how small, any part of your body that does not have work needs to be removed, it is dead weight, you can’t be a part of the Body of Christ and think you’re useless, I know many times we pay attention to the head and that’s good, that’s normal but every part of the body is important. ChurchGist. The hair in your nose is important, if you shave it all out you will see problem, it’s doing work, everything that you’re seeing in your body that you don’t understand they have work, those of you that always remove all the ear wax in your ear, that ear wax has its own work, you can’t remove it; it has what it is doing there. Is somebody getting what I am saying?
So, if you’re part of the Body of Christ, if you’re born again, you’ll come to Church, as long as you’ve been to the Church more than once then you are part of the Church and by the way you must be planted in a Church, you can’t be a freelance member, today you’ll go to RCCG, tomorrow you’ll go to Winners, so where are you now? I feel like going to DCC today, No! No!
Can you work anywhere like that? Today you’re in Union Bank and they call you in your office and ask you why you are not in the office and you say I am in GTB today, I am working from GTB today, they will both sack you there and EFCC will now arrest you; you can’t do that. ChurchGist. So, why do you think you can belong to a Church and just be freelancing to any Church you like, stay there and serve, contribute something, everybody can contribute something, there is no useless part of your body, so, there is no useless part of Christ’s Body, the Church. What are you meant to contribute?
3) MAKE SURE YOU WALK IN LOVE.
This means you go out of your way to love your brother, love your sister, accommodate people, show love to people, Jesus said by this shall people know that you’re my disciple, if you love one another. John 13:34-35. We are like a cult and the Bible says the way to identify us should be by love, those people that were cultist in the University, they have ways to which they are identified, if you’re a Jew man(meaning you don’t know what is happening) you usually don’t know but among those that are cultist, they have signs, they have ways to recognize them, it might be the colour they are wearing, it might be how they shake themselves, it might be lingua, that us the language that they use, it might be how they move. ChurchGist. So, everybody knows how to identify a cult group. The Bible says that our own cult, Ekklesia Cult International, is identified anywhere by love and it’s such a shame how we have carried it out, we’ve done a poor Job of it. Because most times the place you would get the most judgement and the most hate is from the Church and I don’t understand why you cannot accommodate your brothers and your sisters.
Why can’t you accommodate and forgive someone and give the person a long rope because guess what? Jesus gave you too a long rope and He’s giving you a long rope too, you have no business being hard on somebody else, you just always show love. ChurchGist. You must always be willing to forgive people that offend you, you just always go out of your way to help somebody, bless somebody, when you’re in Church that us when you see that somebody is sitting badly or someone is smelling badly. You know there are some people that sit down beside you, oh glory to God! When they say lift up your hands you know you’re in for something, when they raise their hands the wind of the spray will flow towards you, instead of being so judgmental, angry, frowning your face and all that, show love, that person even needs the love, that person needs help, it’s not for you to be feeling that I can’t come to this kind of Church, you’re looking down on people, that is not the Spirit of Love.
You must be accommodating, you just be honourable with people, you must be able to show love with people and sometimes, showing love means you need to confront people but still in the Spirit of Love, you need to tell them no this is wrong and say hey brother you have mouth odour I’m going to buy you a tooth paste, don’t do that o but you know what I am saying. Proverbs 27:5. Sometimes we need to rebuke people, when you call people and say, hey something is wrong, because for some people they think love is only when you hug people. ChurchGist. No! Sometimes if you love somebody, you need to love them enough to tell them to get their lives in order, put things in shape.

It’s important you show love, sometimes that love will require you to give money to somebody in Church, some people think that the Church is a charity organization. No! No! It’s the individual in Church that should be doing charity, that’s not the work of the Church, the work of the Church as a body is not charity, we do it but that is not the main thing, it’s individuals that are meant to do it and it’s not a new thing. Acts 6:1-6. The Apostle told them to select people that will be sharing food, that it is not their duty to do that. We want to stay with prayer and the Word of God, the official Job of a pastor is prayer and to teach the word. ChurchGist. That is where deacon (Stephen) came from, they said you, go and share food and by the way the food they shared was not from the offering, it was individuals bringing their own things, selling their lands, bringing money to help people, very important, it wasn’t that they used the purse of the Church, it was individuals still helping people, that’s how it works.
Some of you need to adopt some people, take them as your mentees, a young business man around you and you’re an older business man with experience, take him under your wings. ChurchGist. You’re a career person, take them under your wings and all. In that unity is where our blessing is. God is so interested in our harmony. In fact, He values our dwelling together in unity more than even your individual sacrifice, He values it more than your sacrifice. Matthew 5:24-25. God would rather have two of you settled together than the big offering you want to give. God is so particular about us staying in unity, if there is somebody you’re holding in this Church that you need to forgive, you need to forgive that person. ChurchGist. There is somebody in your life outside Church that you need to forgive, you need to learn to forgive because without forgiveness we can’t have that unity, because we will always offend each other, there are times when I might offend you, I am a human being, there are times that a Deacon, a Pastor, a Pastor’s wife will say something, do something that doesn’t sit well with you or that looks like an insult to you, if you’re too soft skin, too sensitive you cannot dwell together in unity.
God will cherish your harmony over your sacrifice. Matthew 4:24. Our unity is very important and I want everybody to fight for it, make sure you’re contributing something to the Church, make sure you are part of whatever we are doing, if we are playing football, if that’s what we are doing come out, don’t stay somewhere else, this world is very slippery, its sinking sand, this world will make some Christians backslide because you’re not where you should be at the right time. The Church is having an outreach and you’re at home. ChurchGist. Before you know somebody will call you to come and drink beer or to come to a club, you must occupy yourself with the things of God, we are the called-out ones from this world and somebody is saying pastor what if I have issue with someone in Church? There is a biblical way to deal with it.
Most times as Christians we will join people to do social media posts or somebody post something about a pastor and you as a Christian you start writing: How does that edify? How does that build? How does that even show love? Sometimes we Christians are the worst, we shoot our wounded soldiers, it is only in this Kingdom that we shoot our wounded soldiers, a very horrible behaviour and we are throwing away our generals because they make one mistake, we throw them away and we want to start with a new person, that new person will still make mistakes, an experienced person is more valuable, he has seen the impact of his mistakes. ChurchGist. Very powerful.
I remember the story of one executive that works in a company, he made one mistake that cost the company millions of dollars and he came to meet the CEO, he said I know you’re going to fire me because this mistake is too costly, it cost the company so much money, I know you’re going to fire me. ChurchGist. The CEO said I am not going to fire you, he gave him a track record of his past losses, he said I have spent those millions educating you, if I fire you now, somebody will reap that benefit of the sense you have learnt with my money, he said you will stay here and work that experience out, because you will most likely not repeat the same mistake again, do you see how people think in the corporate world? But here in the Body of Christ any small thing, we are the ones that want to shoot people, we are the ones that want to cancel people, it is called cancel culture, we want to cancel people, most people that have done something bad have done a lot of something good, they are born again Christians, they are your brothers in the Lord, you can’t throw them away and this same people that cancel others they don’t cancel their own families like that, you say my pastor did something bad like that he’s no more my pastor but your father has done worse he’s still your father, you still send him money every month, you’re a world class hypocrite.
You must always work in love as a believer, that is our calling.
HOW DO I DEAL WITH AN ISSUE THAT I HAVE WITH ANOTHER BROTHER IN CHURCH?
Matthew 18:15-21. If you have something against someone, a brother or sister in Church go and tell them, there is no room for gossip in our Kingdom, it didn’t say go and tell another person, it didn’t say go and tell Deacon, it says go and tell him first, if you have an issue with any brother/sister in Church go and tell them first, if both of you can resolve it you’ve saved and won a brother, the issue has been handled between the two of you, not go and do social media post.
If you have talked to him one on one and he does not hear, take one or two people and go and present your case, because sometimes you’re the one that is wrong, sometimes it’s you that is wrong, so when you bring witnesses, they can judge the matter and say this is what it is. ChurchGist. Do you see all the process, do you see anywhere you’re asked to do social media broadcasts? Is there anywhere you’re told to tell people on the street? But that’s what we do as Christians, everybody is doing crazy things but nobody will post. Yet, something will happen in the Church and you will want to post, you want to tell the whole world.
The Bible says if he neglects the Church, them neglect him, that means from that day don’t see him as a believer and by the way apart from this; this is why we tell Christians that want to marry, please I beg you in the name of God, listen to what I am saying, it is so sad that I travel round the world teaching marriage and some people in my own Church don’t know a thing about what to do. ChurchGist. Don’t marry a man that doesn’t obey spiritual authority, don’t marry a man that has no church, don’t marry a man that is not submitted to his pastor or to a reputable serious pastor because there are many magicians, don’t marry that kind of man. This same principle in Matthew 18:15 applies to husband and wife, if the issue is not getting resolved, call witnesses of repute to come and talk, if they can’t talk, report him to Church authority, if he doesn’t even answer church authority, treat him as an unbeliever.
So, I don’t know why you will open your two eyes and go and marry a drunkard and you get born again and you want him to stop being a drunkard, you go and marry someone that has no spiritual authority, listen to nobody, that your pastor does he knows everything, it not about knowing everything, it’s about everybody being accountable, even me as a pastor I have a pastor and I am accountable and I have told people in this Church over and over again, I have told my wife anytime I misbehave call my Pastor, Reverend Femi Oduwole and you as a Church if I am misbehaving call him, feel free to report me. ChurchGist. Anybody that you don’t know who he is submitted to is a dangerous person, when the Bible says the men are head of the home, it’s not that they are a headless head. God will never put his daughter under the hands of a headless man, there is a structure to it. 1st Corinthians 11:3. There is a structure. It’s not that the man is head on his own and he can do anything he likes. I want to marry 13 wives, I am the head, you must obey, what nonsense. The Bible says she must obey, so anything we like, let’s go and buy Hennessy, rubbish. That is not the kind of head we are talking about, you too must be under authority, because that harmony in your home, if it is not maintained your prayers will be hindered.
1st Peter 3:7. So, this issue of unity, it affects us a Church and it also affects us as an individual, you marriage will not be as blessed as it should be, if you guys are always at variance with each other, don’t marry a man that is not subject to authority, you must marry a man that if his pastor calls him he will say sir, no matter who he is, no matter how big he is, he must have somebody that he listens to, when I see small people, they have nothing yet and they have no authority, you know last week I was sharing about how God shared me help in a far place, I mentored that couple, that guy is a billionaire but he still listens, he still lays attention, he still say sir and he is a billionaire but he still listen to authority. He doesn’t like his wife reporting him to me, he wants to keep looking good and behaving well, you must marry a man like that, that still has men that they respect and regard. ChurchGist. Not nobody can talk to me, I am the head of this family, you’re not the head of the world my brother, you’re a family bigger than your family that you’re a part of, that is the family of God. So, you too must be subject to that one before you can run your own, anytime somebody has power and he has no control, he is a danger to the whole world.
As powerful as that man is saying nobody talks to me, does he drive in any part of the road in Lagos, there is a head of the Country, that your own headship is under another headship, you can’t just say you’re driving on any part of the road, you will explain that in LASTMA office. ChurchGist. So, young girls in particular, because I see those things, you’ll just go and marry a bomboy, marry one rascal that doesn’t listen to anybody and you want him to suddenly have sense. God will give us wisdom in the name of Jesus, God will help us to maintain a house of unity, a home of unity, a spiritual family that is together, a house that fulfils God’s plan, everybody contribute their own plan, the singer will sing, the usher will usher, those that can contribute money will do, those that can design and bring creative idea, I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice that you’re you’ll be a useful part of the Ekklesia that you belong to, you’ll be a useful part of the joint Body of Christ globally and I pray that we will grow beyond where we beg for bread and we’ll start legislating and talking about Kingdom advancement over the earth that we live in, in the mighty name of Jesus.
