King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the one who is called the most high, the Heaven is your throne, the earth is your footstool, you’re higher than the highest, you’re greater than the greatest, older than the oldest, you’re wiser than the wisest, there is none like you, we magnify you Daddy, we want you to know that we are very proud to have you as our father, we love you and we appreciate you, please accept our worship in Jesus name. Father today as we Children gather to learn at your feet, we pray that the power in your Word will transform our lives, that sicknesses will disappear, yokes will be destroyed, your name and your name alone will be glorified, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Well, we will continue with our series GOING HIGHER and now part 61. Our text will remain the same as of last week. 1st Kings 19:15-17. Last week we mentioned to you the fact that life and the war starts very early, from the very beginning, war had started, the original war was between light and darkness, that the first murder started in the garden of Eden as so on. ChurchGist. We said the war is going to continue to the very end and in the book of Revelation we have the assurance that at last we win, we spoke that God has always had an enemy, an enemy of insect an enemy of animals, lions and bears, an army among the hosts of Heaven, the sun can refuse to shine if the Lord says so, the rain and the wind and so on.
We also said God wants to have an army among men, anointed people who could do battle for him. We hinted that the fact that you’re a Christian does not mean that the war is over. ChurchGist. I know the evangelist must have told you that once you give your life to Jesus Christ there will no more fight, God bless the Evangelist, I’m a pastor so I’ll tell you the real situation; the real situation that came from the mouth of Jesus himself. John 16:33. Jesus said in this world you will have tribulations but be of good courage I have overcome the world.
So, salvation is an invitation to join an army, you’re already in one army whether you know it or not, if you’re not born again, you belong to the army of darkness, the problem with that army is that your commander in chief Satan likes to forsake his own, if you don’t believe me, ask Goliath? At the critical moment Goliath needed help, Satan was not there to help him. You don’t believe me ask the Prophet of Baal, they will tell you at the time when they wanted help, they cried from morning to evening, crying for fire to fall, fire didn’t fall, at the end of the day they all lost their lives. ChurchGist. But when you join the army of Christ, you can be sure of one thing, He promised that he will never leave you, he will never forsake you, he will be there by your side to fight the battles. Salvation is an invitation to join an army. 2nd Timothy 2:3. You’re called to be a soldier and therefore you just be willing to endure hardness, you just be disciplined. John 10:21. Hebrews 2:10. The Father made our Captain perfect through suffering, our Captain was well disciplined, well disciplined.
When you see the soldiers marching on the day of parade, what you’re seeing is a product of several years of going through the bootcamp and all kinds of training that will toughen them, so that they will become men of steel. 2nd Timothy 2:4. ChurchGist. You cannot live like a civilian, you cannot get yourself entangled with the things of the world, you’re called to be a soldier. Acts 10:38. Our Captain went about doing good and doing good interprets to me as healing the sick, which I have told you before meant killing germs, viruses and setting captives free from the oppression of Satan, you have to fight to set the captives free.
Now, as the Father sent Him so He sent us and what are we to do? Matthew 10:7-8. We are to preach the Kingdom of God which is another way of depopulating the Kingdom of Satan, we are to heal the sick, cleanse lepers, we are even to raise the dead, rub those that Satan thought he has already got into his abode in hell, to bring them back. You see there is something the almighty God said to Elijah here that I want to bring to your attention today. He said anyone who escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu was to slay, those who escape from Jehu, Elisha was to slay, that means the Army of God is in teamwork, everything must be teamwork, someone may escape the sword of Hazael, Jehu must be willing to go to war and support Hazael and if someone fails or if someone escape the sword of Jehu, Elisha is to step in. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. Two are better than one and he explains why, in case one falls the other will support him and when you have three of them, they become unbreakable. ChurchGist. Matthew 18:19-20. The almighty God told us, if two of you shall agree concerning anything on earth then my Father in Heaven will give it to you. He said where two or three are gathered in my name I will be there. Soldiers of Christ you can’t do it alone, you need prayer partners, you need people who will stand with you in agreement, there are some wars you can’t just fight alone.
When you want to go to war on behalf of your Captain, of course the wisest thing to do is to start by consulting the captain, ask him for directions. 2nd Samuel 5:18-25. The Philistines gathered against David; David asked God should I go after them? And the Lord Said yes, go after them, you will defeat them, because I will go with you. So, David went and gave the Philistines some nasty blows and they fled, after sometimes they grouped up again and this time David said Lord I was able to beat them last time should I go after them again, the Lord said no, hold on, the methodology this time is going to be different, the first time you went against them in a frontal attack, this time make a circle round them and wait till you hear a moving of the wind on top the mulberry tree, then you’ll know it’s time to strike. ChurchGist. When it comes to warfare you can’t beat your Captain in war methods, he knows better than you and the method he wants you to use might not even make sense. Joshua 6:1-end. Joshua was ready for action, in the previous chapter, here was Jericho surrounded with a very mighty wall. So, mighty according to historian, if it falls down it will still be as tall as it was when it was originally standing and then the captain and visited Joshua and he said Well this is how we are going to take this City, for six days march round it once a day, one the seventh day go round seven times and not a word must be spoken, after the seventh time on the seventh day then roar, shout and the wall will crumble, not just fall down, it will crumble.
Be careful how you fight, ask your Captain for methodology, cooperate with your Captain. Many times when your Captain wants to fight for you, He will ask you to do something, for example, Exodus 14:1-28. ChurchGist. When Pharaoh with all his host came against Israel by the Red sea, God told Moses, you’re going to open a way in the Red sea for your people to match through, raise your hand against the Red sea, raising my hands against the Red sea will divide the Red sea, No, God is simply asking you to obey, he obeyed, he raised his hands and God caused a mighty east wind to blow, cooperation, you do what he asks you to do and let him finish the Job.
You see when God asks you to lay hands on the sick, he is not saying it is your hand that will do the healing, you lay your hands on the sick and let him flow through you, through those hands to produce the healing. ChurchGist. So, when I hear people say I don’t even know whether the person will be healed when I lay hands on the sick, you’re not the healer, all you’re asked to do is to obey, lay your hands and leave the rest to God, remember if you lay your hands on the sick and the sick recovers, you’re not to take the glory, all the glory must be to God and if there was anything I learnt very early in my Christian life, if I lay hands and the fellow gets healed, I am not going to take the glory.
So, if I lay hands and the fellow does not get healed, I am not going to take the shame, if I can’t share the glory, then I can’t share anything if nothing happens. Just obey. Ezekiel 37:1-10. In the valley of dried bones, the Bible says the bones were very dry and God told the man of God, my Prophet can these bones live, you know the rest of the story. ChurchGist. The man of God said Lord, only you know, this is a battle beyond me and God said fine, I’m not asking you to bring the dried bones back to life on your strength, all I want you to do is to prophesy, open your mouth and say bones come together, leave the rest to me and he prophesied bones come together, thus saith the Lord, come together. You need to put yourself in the position of that great man of God when all of a sudden bone began to come together, bones to bone, I’m sure he must have been waiting there trembling and then all of a sudden, flesh began to cover the bones but they were still dead and God said alright well done my servant, do it again now, prophecy the second time and he prophesied and the wind blew.
- I prophesy to all of you who are listening to me today, those of you who are dry bones, come back to life. Those of you who have been told by doctors that there is nothing more we can do for you, I prophesy to you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, dry bones live again. I’m not the one who will do it, my Commander-in-Chief is the one who will do it.
So, you need partners. Exodus 17:8-13. In the war of the Amalekites that we have referred to earlier on, Amalekites attacked the Children of Israel and Moses went to the mountain top, he took Aaron and Hur, Joshua with the little army they had were in the valley below, doing the physical fighting, Moses was there doing the spiritual, he lifted up his hands, as long as his hands were up, the children of Israel were winning, when his hands grew heavy, man of God you’re still a man, if you raise your hands for too long, the hands will grow heavy. But fortunately, there were two people there, Aaron and Hur, they lifted up his hands until the battle was won. ChurchGist. Brethren, you’re making a mistake if you leave all the problem solving to the General Overseer. I don’t know of other General Overseers but I know that the one talking to you now is a human being, he still goes to the toilet and he still falls asleep once in a while.
I think I have told you before of a time when there was convention going in and then particular on the most important day of the convention, on Friday, it rained and one of my children challenged me, he said Daddy it rained, I said yes it did, he said you’re supposed to be in the prayer room praying, I said yes, I was there, how did it rain? I said I fell asleep, he said: You! How can you fall asleep? Sit down there, how many times have you prayed for me in any case that I shouldn’t fall asleep. ChurchGist. Pray for your Moses, lift up his hands, there is the need for team work. You need partners. 2nd Samuel 21:15-17. The Bible says David went to war against the Philistines, the great giant killer became tired, the Bible said he wax faint and as soon as the enemy saw that, they rejoiced because opportunity has come let’s kill him and there was this great giant, the way they described him, probably he was even bigger than Goliath, he would have finished up David but somebody was there that came to his rescue, so that the battle was won, there is the need for partnership, don’t be too proud to ask for help from other prayer warriors. ChurchGist. Don’t say that I am the pastor, why should I ask the workers to pray for me. Matthew 26;37-40. The Lord Jesus Christ himself when he was facing the biggest battle of his life, he called three of his disciples to come along to pray with him. When he came back and he found them sleeping he said haa, you can’t even watch with me for one hour.
If the Lord asks for partners to come and watch with him, who are you, Paul the Apostles said again and again, pray for us. 1st Thessalonians 5:25. Pray for us. 2nd Thessalonians 3:1. 2nd Corinthians 1:11. He told the Corinthian Church: Pray for us. Colossians 4, pray for us. ChurchGist. You need partners, Paul was the one who brought the gospel to all these people and now he is asking them to pray for him. Acts 12:1-11. The Bible said the enemy grabbed one of the Apostles and killed him and saw that the Christians were rejoicing and they went further to grab Peter also, but now the Bible says this time around the Church gathered around to pray for Peter. They didn’t pray for James, so James died and James was a great man of God, in fact he was the chairman anytime the Apostles held a meeting and now Peter, this time they prayed for Peter and an angel came and set him free. Pray for us!
Get a prayer partner at least one. Husband if your wife is a true child of God, let her be your prayer partner, wife the same, children let your parents be your prayer partner, parents do the same to your children.
Now, let me conclude this part of slay this one if he escapes from the other person, I am issuing an invitation to you, to say join the winning side, we are the winning side you know. Why? Our Lord is the Lord of Host, our Captain, our Commander-in-Chief. Psalm 24:7-10. It calls him the Lord of Host, he has never lost a war. ChurchGist. Philippians 2:9-11. At the mention of his name alone all knees must bow. So, when they say you’re a Christian, the moment the enemy hears the word Christ, he knows you belong to Christ, he begins to tremble.
I’ve told you this story before, there was this young man who went to somewhere, we didn’t know what happened there, he came back loaded with demons. So, that he could no longer sit down nor walk, he couldn’t even take his bath, he was just lying down helplessly and they carried him like that to Ebute-metta and when they brought him, he was just like a vegetable, I said unto him: Young man I want to pray for you, I want you to kneel down, he said I can’t kneel down, I said I command you to kneel down, he said in whose name, I said in the name of Jesus and he said that is different, he knelt down and I prayed a short prayer in the name of Jesus, I told him to get up, I told him to get up, he said I can’t stand up, I said I command you to stand up, I he said in whose name, I said in the name of Jesus, so he said that’s different and he stood up, I said now go home go and take your bath and return to walks, he said I can’t walk, I said I command you, he said in whose name, I said in the name of Jesus and he began to walk home and that was the end of the problem. ChurchGist. You’re not going to war in your own name, you’re going in the name of Jesus, join our side we are the winning side and in case you don’t know that is why we shout so much, because the winning side is the shouting side. Let me hear somebody shout Hallelujah. Join us and very soon you will be shouting for victory.
