- Develop faith for growth.
This pertains to everybody and everything we are looking for from God. Develop faith for growth. It is unto everyone according to their faith. Matthew 9:21-22. You develop faith for growth. People have faith for different things. There is faith for church growth. Church Gist. There is faith for infrastructural development and speed in things. There is faith for healing and miracles. Develop faith for growth because God will release things to you according to your faith.
- Engage intercessory prayers for growth.
Ezekiel 36:37-38. If they inquire of me I will multiply them with men like a flock. What is our prayer centred on? Mark 3:27. Before you enter the house of a strong man, you bind that strong man first. We take authority over the territorial powers of Abuja FCT. We take authority over the god of alcoholism, prostitution, aimlessness. Anything that is a stronghold over the area where you are binds the people from knowing God. Every community has its own community iniquity. What is the most prevalent situation there? Behind negative human behaviour are demonic spirits. Church Gist. On Sunday mornings instead of going to church, they are sitting at the pito joint or burukutu joint. On Sunday morning they are playing soccer. You take authority over that demon. It is not normal, it is not natural. It is a demon that is directing them away. It works. 2 Corinthians 4:4. We are taking the blindfold from their eyes at the place of intercession. Whatever has blinded the people to this assignment we tear you. - Feed the people with nutritious word.
Acts 6:7. Anywhere the word of God increases, disciples must multiply. God’s servant, Papa Oyedepo said God told him why the church is not growing, and God showed him the satanic blanket. He tore it at the place of intercession. He asked what else should I do. God said grow the grass. Let the sheep come and eat the grass, by the time they are well fed they will lie down in the green pasture where they are and their colleague who sees them will come to where they are. That was his ministry of dishing out the word, not stories, not gimmicks, not entertainment, not laughing and testing. Real life-changing word, what somebody can take and apply. Some esoteric, some non-practical stuff. The implication of one of the stones on the back of Moses. All manner of stuff. There are people who are just after some eccentric stuff that has no practical application that somebody can hear and change his story. There are some people who are standing and preaching and arguing with themselves “The Bible says so, I don’t think the Bible should say such ”. I have seen such things before. Church Gist. They started and by the end of the message you have heard many things but you heard nothing because you don’t know what to do with what you heard. Any preaching that does not give the people responsibility is an irresponsible preaching. It doesn’t leave the people with what to do, it does leave the people with answers, it doesn’t leave the people with solutions, it doesn’t leave the people with directions, it doesn’t leave the people with solace.
Papa Oyedepo said any faith that leaves the answer absolutely in the hand of God is an irresponsible faith. That is God will do it while you are doing nothing. It is irresponsible. There is something you will do for God to do something. Moses lifted the rod and as Moses lifted the rod, God sent the wind to part the Red Sea. God will not lift the rod for Moses and Moses can not call the wind to part the Red Sea. There was something Moses will do and something God will do. Pour water in the water pots and they did, God turned it into wine. They couldn’t turn the water into wine and God will not pour the water for them. That is the basis why we say Conclusion, Counsel, Action Step. This is what to do if you want to do it. Church Gist. It is possible you shouted all through the service and they ask you what did you get, you say the service was hot. What are you taking home? Don’t just go there, it was very hot. In the midst of the heat, there will be solutions. In the midst of the explosion, there could be directions. In the midst of the heated preaching, deliverance is taking place, yokes are being broken and at the same time, answers can come inside it.
I preached somewhere many years ago and it was almost impossible for people to sit down from the beginning to the end, it was Pastor Victor Adeyemi’s Church. It was so explosive. He said to me I can hear Bishop Oyedepo’s voice in your voice. I said but Papa Oyedepo goes very gradually and gives you points. Church Gist. People don’t jump up and scream like they are doing. He said inside that jumping there were a lot of lines, instructions, punchlines, directions, nuggets, things that people went home with. Jeremiah 3:15-16. When the Pastor feeds you, multiplication is inexplicable. I see multiplication happening here in the name of Jesus.
- Trust God for the supernatural in healing and deliverance
Whatever be your ministry, is it a teaching ministry, is it a healing ministry, is it a singing or evangelistic ministry? just trust God for the supernatural. I heard from Oral Roberts, he said on every pew there sits a brokenhearted person. He saw the multitudes that they were fainting. You know people’s problems are not written on their faces but if you go row by row there is an issue somewhere. Acts 5:14-15. Multitudes came because of problems and they were healed. We were in Chicago Church on Fire, I am preaching and the power of God moved like it will move here and one white woman under power stood up and said a snake just left her. Snake in America? Inside white person? Not in Akwa Ibom State, not in Benue State, not in Esan land, not in Ibaji land, not in Igala land. Chicago, white person, snake. You were with us in London, and the same thing happened. Affliction is no respecter of colour. Satanic oppression is no respecter of race. I was talking to somebody in Europe about the demonic activities in Africa and he said their own version is worse than our own. He said their demonic affliction is on steroids. So you don’t need to lay hands on people one by one, you just trust God as the word is coming, let affliction be clearing. Let people have testimonies, let them have stories of changed lives. Addictions broken, wretchedness overturned, yoke broken. When this happens you don’t need to beg people, they will just troop and follow. Church Gist. I knew a young man in this church as he was seeing the explosion of God in his hands. People that are already rich are following him to church. One of them is already a confirmed billionaire. He said since I associated with this young man my resources moved to another level. He said I will soon come and share my testimony. That is at any level you are there is still a level to go. Everybody no matter their placement needs a miracle, they need one touch of the other that can change their lives and change their stories. I announce to you today that change is coming your way tonight.
Trust God for the supernatural, even as a business person trust God for the supernatural. For God to change lives where you are and in the things you do.
- Make known the deeds of God among the people.
The devil does not care what is happening around you as long as nobody is aware. Make known the deeds of God in the lives of people. Psalm 150:1-2, 105:1-2. Don’t let the devil make the vision invisible. Don’t let the devil mute the voice of the signs. God showed me that every miracle has a voice. Exodus 4:8. Every sign has a voice, and every miracle has a voice. If this miracle will not speak to someone, that miracle will. That is the basis of having little leaflets that carry the evidence of God’s works spread in town. Use every medium to let your world know that we are not just here clapping hands. Church Gist. Reality is happening here. In this place, somebody’s life is changing. That is the basis of people standing here to testify. Earlier in our ministry, we wrote a little pamphlet, Come and See God at Work and actually employed people, paid them salaries to hit the road running. We call them blazers. Some of them are big pastors now. Their assignment 22 years ago was to hit the road. Mark 1:45. Publish what God did. - Make room to accommodate people.
Let there be structures on ground that the people will come to. Whatever it is, just make room. Isaiah 54:1-4. Put structure in place. One of the ways to make room is little structures we call home cell structures. If the church becomes too big it is impossible to know everybody one by one. It is an apostolic pattern, it is also a pattern from the old testament. There are other structures that could be, the departmental structures. We are trusting the Lord to hit 12,000 home cells but currently, we are almost 9,000 in FCT currently. Somebody is positioned somewhere. We trust God that if one becomes two there will be 18,000. We are working aggressively. It is not possible to know everybody and somebody can feel lost in the crowd and feel this church does care for anybody. It is important that as it is increasing and exploding there is structure to accommodate them. I am sure you know 9,000 home cells means 9,000 leaders, 9000 assistants and that is 18,000. Church Gist. That is leadership development on another level. That is 9000 hosts. People whose homes are being used. It is very important otherwise you come to a level where nothing is moving anymore. You have done your best but nothing is moving anymore. I prophesy on someone here today, the wisdom has been released right now. Our target is 25,000 in a short time and 50,000 in a little while. All we need to do is one give birth, go to another one and stabilize and then one give birth to another.
- Take the welfare of the people seriously.
Whether you are a leader pastoring a church or the leader of an organization. Take the welfare of the people seriously. Acts 6:1-6. There was murmuring. If you won’t care for the people, don’t look for them. Basic Things. Pay attention to the car park, take care of convenience facilities, and also take care of the children. For a while, in this place we were trying to work on a children’s church and it was a bit difficult but we overcame that eventually. Church Gist. Do you want to care for the people? Just care for their comfort. It goes beyond when someone is sick in the hospital, that is where the home church comes in. Where people can stand by people. We will take our care and welfare to the next level.
- Embrace the climate of praise and worship.
Praise and worship are a multiplier of people. Jeremiah 30:19. If the climate of praise, thanksgiving, and appreciation is available, no devil can stop multiplication. John 6:11-12. Everywhere thanks is given, multiplication happens. Church Gist. Everywhere worship is genuinely given things multiply. As a pastor please understand that you are the chief worshipper of the church, I didn’t say chief singer. Your heart of thanksgiving flows and rubs on the congregation.
