Listen, if you’re committed it will show, my wife is a living witness, I used to wake up to be in the office before 8am, nobody was supervising me, I had nobody supervising me, people were calling me big names which I don’t like to call, names like General Overseer, President, Founder. I was the only person, together with my wife, we were with one young man who could not stand the work and he ran away. He called me one day and said, sir the way you’re doing, Oyedepo didn’t do it like that, I told him; do you know how Papa Oyedepo started, He couldn’t stand the work. ChurchGist. Early in the morning I would be in the office, at 7:45am, even if I pray till 2am, I would be in the office by 7:45am, I was the only person. There was no fan in the office. She was my first Personal Assistant. You know when your wife is your Personal Assistant, you know how it is?
Both of us will get up, she would stand by the door, we would do devotion together, we must do devotion in the morning, just the two of us, then she will go up as a woman to take care of other things, but I would still be in the office, I would read my Bible, I would pray, I would do counselling, I fasted for 2 years. I know your brain is calculating many things. He’s a married man, how did he fast for 2 years, go and find out. I was doing all night prayers non-stop for two years, every midnight, Monday to Sunday, there was no midnight I didn’t get up to pray. So don’t think I just got here by child’s play. If you’re thinking this is how Salvation Ministries started, you’re making a mistake.
I was committed, there was no light, I had to read in the day because there will be no light to read in the night; I use the night period for prayers, that was how I planned my life, because you don’t need light to pray. ChurchGist. That was how I programmed myself, yet I would still do counseling, I would teach in Bible School. At that time we were less than 4, I taught about 4 courses in Bible School. People are just lazy nowadays.
I was the first technical director, while my wife was the first sanctuary keeper, she would sweep while I arrange the speakers and connect them. I will record and edit the message and sell it alone. People are just lazy. It is left for you.
My brain was working. Do you know why my brain was working? Because there was no place I would get help from. Do you know why some of you are not working? You have many people to help you. ChurchGist. Who in my family will I call, I’m the one to help them. When you make alternatives, you will be very lazy. Come to a point where you don’t have anybody to help you; you will succeed. ChurchGist. This man will help me, this politician will help me, that’s why you’re too lazy. Get to a point where you say; no way, I shut all doors, only God, your brain will work actively. Okay, who will help me? Is it my late father or my late mother or my younger brother?
How many of you will work? Do you know why your brain is not working? If you’re working, your brain will be filled, it will be saturated with thoughts. The first sign that you’re working is that your brain will be filled, your brain will be working every second, what do I do? How do I do it? But when you’re not working, the brain will be wired for nothing. ChurchGist. You will be talking rubbish. One of the signs that you’re not working is when your brain is only thinking about men and women. I’m telling you what I know, I’ve been there before, you’ll start thinking of the girl you will go out with or which boy you will go out with? What time will she come? Because there is nothing occupying your brain. When you see a girl walk past you, you’ll start analyzing her. Your brain is empty! You’re not thinking of any work. When your brain is thinking about work, you won’t know when a lady passes you. I have forgotten I have not eaten food before, not once not twice, I forgot food. There’s a level to which you will work, you will forget about food, work will so occupy you; you won’t remember that you’ve not eaten. Please work! Our society is too lazy, that you’re a black man does not mean you should live in lack. Black is not synonymous to lack and we are not black in the first place, we are children of God.
