SERVING GOD DOES NOT ADD TO GOD, SERVING GOD ADDS TO US.
SERVING GOD IS THE DIFFERENCE MAKER BUT IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT SERVING GOD IN TERMS OF ACTIVITY BUT SERVING GOD IN TERMS OF CONNECTIVITY.

Our Father, this morning we have come with joy and gratitude to give you the praise for all you have done. Thank you for the privilege to be in your presence. Thank you for all you did in our services yesterday. Church Gist. We give you all the glory. Lord, this morning our eyes are upon you. We ask that you speak to us today by your word and let your word form each one of our lives. We give all the praise and glory to your name in Jesus’ precious name we have prayed.
God’s word makes it clear to us that every statement of the scriptures applies to us as individuals. Matthew 7:24-27. Not them but ‘him’. It applies to us as individuals. So we discover that while the release of the word may be general, the application is personal. Church Gist. It applies to us as individuals. Everything about the scriptures is ordained for our profiting. So those who engage with what they hear are the ones who profit from what they hear. Deuteronomy 28:1-2. They are all personal words. According to God’s word, everything about the scripture is for our profiting, for our blessing.
In 2 Timothy 3:16-18, we are told that the word of God is made up of four principal components. Every component of the word is ordained for profiting. Every statement of the scripture is ordained for our profiting. Isaiah 48:17. Every command or statement of scriptures is ordained for our profiting but it is important to know that it is our obedience of faith that qualifies our access to this profit. Church Gist. So while the profit is available, it is only obtainable by the obedient. It is our obedience of faith that qualifies our access to this profit. Jesus was at the Wedding in Cana, Galilee and the Bible says the mother of Jesus said to those servants “whatever He tells you to do, do it”. The word is there, the word carries the profit but it is only in obedience of faith. It was in obedience of faith that the profit was triggered.
Therefore, this week our line of exhortation is captioned EVERY COMMAND OF SCRIPTURE IS ORDAINED FOR OUR PROFITING.
From the scriptures, it is clear that one of God’s vital commandments is the commandment for stewardship. We are commanded by God to serve. That commandment for stewardship is a commandment for our profiting. Please hear this, this morning God has nothing to gain from us but we have everything to gain from God. God has nothing to profit from us, it is us that have everything to profit from God. Church Gist. So it means therefore that our stewardship is not to the advantage of God but to our own individual advantage. Serving God doesn’t add to God, serving God adds to us. There is nothing we do by our engagement on earth that increases or enlarges God, No! It increases and enlarges us.
That is why when we begin to look at the command of scriptures, we discover that it is loaded with blessings for you and for me. For example, we know that serving God guarantees breakthroughs, health and longevity. Church Gist. Exodus 23:25-26. You shall serve and He shall bless and the effect of the blessing is breakthroughs on every beside.
In the book of Isaiah 45:1-3, there is a picture of breakthrough painted for us. Somebody say breakthrough, that is a picture of breakthrough, but what qualified Cyrus for this kind of breakthrough? Isaiah 45:13. So it means that serving the purpose, the agenda, the plan of God was going to be the pathway to breakthrough. “he will build my city” – that talks about kingdom advancement, “he will not do it for price or reward” – that talks about stewardship. Church Gist. As a result of that, the breakthroughs begin to happen. As we serve God we position ourselves for breakthroughs on every side. He said “I will open to him the two leaved gates” nothing will close for him, everything will keep opening for him. So we see the picture of breakthrough.
In the book of John 15:1-2 Jesus speaking said as we keep engaging we are guaranteed a lifestyle of health and vitality. Exodus 23:25. As you and I keep serving God, we are positioned for sickness free living. We saw just two Sundays ago, this great celebration of one of us who stood upon the altar at the age of 100 and the testimony concerning her is that no sickness, no breakdown. Church Gist. Health intact, why? As you serve God, God takes sickness away from you. What else? We see the blessing of longevity. All of these are all outcomes of serving God. God does not need long life because God cannot die. Long life benefit is for you and for me and He gives it to us as we keep serving Him. Isaiah 65:22. We find all of these blessings that are accrued to us as we keep serving God.
Let us take note of this, this morning. It is serving God in truth and in deed that opens these blessings to us. 1 Samuel 12:24, 3 John 1:2-3. Serving God is the difference maker, it is not just about serving God in terms of activity, but serving God in terms of connectivity. Do it in truth. Ensuring that we are not just part of the motion but we are actually in connection to God, our heart being fully involved, that is the difference maker. Church Gist. We are told in Matthew 6:33 that after that, all these things that others are dying to get shall be added unto you. Things others struggle for, those things will be struggling for you. Every blessing people are pursuing after will pursue after you.
Prayers: Lord I receive that grace this morning to serve You in truth. I can see that it is for my profiting.
You have asked for grace, that grace will be made available to you. From now you will serve God in truth and your stewardship shall be profitable for you.
Speak to the Day. Speak to the week.
Don’t just let things happen, make things happen, speak right now and command the happenings today. Make your decrees, make your declarations. Do it in faith.
Now your day is declared blessed and your week is declared blessed. Nothing contrary to blessing is permitted in your life this week. Church Gist. All through this week, it shall be addition upon addition, it shall be favour upon favour, breakthrough upon breakthrough. This week protocols will be broken on your behalf.
