EVERY TIME YOU WORK, YOU ARE OWED A SALARY.
EVERY TIME YOU LABOUR IN THE KINGDOM, YOU ARE OWED A REWARD.
IN THE SAME VEIN, EVERY TIME YOU LABOUR IN THE KINGDOM, YOU ARE OWED A REWARD AND GOD OWES NO MAN.
WHEN MAN PAYS YOU, IT ADDRESSES SOME NEEDS BUT WHEN GOD PAYS YOU, IT ADDRESSES ALL NEEDS.
WHEN YOU OFFER STEWARDSHIP TO GOD, YOU ARE SECURING SOMETHING THAT IS BEYOND WHAT MONEY CAN BUY.
YOUR TOMORROW IS DEFINED BY YOUR TODAY AND YOUR TODAY HAS BEEN DEFINED BY YOUR YESTERDAY.
ENGAGE TODAY AND ENJOY TOMORROW!
THE BLESSING OF GOD IS THE PAY FOR THE LABOUR OF MAN.

We’ll be looking all through this week and the line of exhortation captioned – ENGAGING BIBLICAL MENTALITY IN STEWARDSHIP. And we’ll discover that destiny answers largely to mentality.
In Proverbs 23:7, it says; For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. In other words, it is our thinking that defines our living. How we live, is largely driven by how we think. It means that if we think wrong, we will live wrong. If we think right, we will live right.
That is why it becomes important for each one of us to focus, on the renovation of our thoughts. In the Book of Romans 12 and verse 2, the Bible says; be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of the renovation of your mind. That is why it is important for us as we are doing in the course of this week to keep redirecting our thoughts aright so that it can drive our lives aright.
In the course of the week, we looked at the fact that we must possess a soul as mentality. Church Gist. We saw yesterday that we must possess an ‘Investor’s Mentality’. And this morning we are going to look at the fact that we must possess an ‘Appointment Mentality’.
An appointment is the act of assigning a person to a job. To a function, to an assignment. In John 15:16, Jesus speaking, He says; You have not chosen me but I have chosen you and I have ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you ask the Father in my name, He will give it unto you.
I have chosen you! In every appointment, the one who is appointing is the one who selects the appointee. I have chosen you, I have selected you. That means that you are not the only choice but you happen to be God’s selection.
In 1 Peter 2:9, the Bible says; You are a chosen generation, you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people: that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.
So everyone that is a child of God, is God’s selection, is God’s choice and that means that, that individual is God’s appointee.
And he’s appointed unto what, Jesus made it very clear. Church Gist. He said, you didn’t choose me, it is me who chose you and I chose you for a specific purpose. What is that purpose that; You should go and bring forth fruit. That is what we call the ‘Great Commission’.
In Mark16:15, Jesus said; Go into the world and preach the gospel. That is the job to which we are all assigned.
It is our appointments. What does that mean? It means, everyone who is on the go for Christ in soul-winning is on appointment.
In Luke 10:1, the Bible says, after these things, He appointed other seventy also. Which means those who went before the seventy were also appointed. He appointed other seventy also. Every time you find a man, a woman who is on the go for Christ in soul-winning, they are simply going out on the appointment of God. Church Gist. And it’s important that we are reminded that, as it is in the physical where every appointment comes with particular benefits, so it is also in the spiritual.
When you are appointed, you are given an appointment letter and that letter states within it that there are specific benefits that accrue to you as a result of carrying out the function. When the function is executed, the reward of the appointment is distributed. The Bible makes it very clear to us in the Book of John 4:35 and 36. It says; Lift your eyes and see, all the fields are white and they are ready to be harvested. And then in verse 36, He said; he that reapeth receiveth wages. He says and he gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
So everyone executing the appointment has specific rewards and those rewards come as wages in their direction. What does that mean? Everyone who is working, advancing the kingdom has a return from God.
I love how the Bible puts it, when it says, that he that worketh, he said; what he receives is as it were not of grace, but as a reward of work. He is rewarded for the work. Church Gist. There is a response to the work. Every time you work, you are owed a salary. In the same vein, every time you labour in the kingdom, you are owed a reward. And God owes no man because God pays all men. And the pay of God, addresses all needs. That’s the beauty of it! When man pays you, it addresses some needs but when God pays you, it addresses all needs.
It says in Psalm 145:16, He said; He opened his hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. So the pay of God addresses every need of man, every aspects of man’s need. That is why we are told in Exodus 23:25 that; You shall serve the Lord your God and He will bless your bread and your water.
What is Blessing? Blessing is the release of God that addresses every desire of man. When God concluded creation, what did He give man? He didn’t give him money, He gave him blessing because everything man needed was inside the blessing. When we serve God, God pays us with blessing because everything you and I need is in blessing. For example, it is the blessing of God that makes rich and adds no sorrow. So it is blessing that brings resources, it is blessing that secures health. You shall serve God and be blessed, and He will take sickness away in the midst of them. It is blessing that brings fruitfulness. Church Gist. None shall cast their young nor be barren. It is blessing that brings longevity. The number of your days, I will fulfill.
All of these are all components of blessing and that is why you and I must keep remembering that every time we are offering our stewardship to God, we are securing something that is beyond what money can buy.
The blessing of God is the pay for the labour of man. That is why it is important that we continue to maintain that mentality of an appointment. Recognizing that you are not serving God for nothing.
Every engagement of labour in the advancement of the kingdom secures the release of blessing in the direction of the labourer.
That is why an appointment mentality is one of the self motivating factors in stewardship.
Let me state this, this morning, every appointment is always personal. In every organization, when you are appointed, you have a letter that is written to you. Church Gist. It is not a letter that is written to everybody, it is written to you as an individual.
Appointments are personal. Everyone enters an organization individually. It is a personal thing and if you are not careful, you can be sacked from there also individually. That is why it becomes important for us to ensure that we maintain the mentality so that we can secure the return and not be sacked from our position.
I see God granting each one of us grace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In James 5:7, the Bible tells us there, it says that the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth and because he knows something is coming, he has longed patience for it. He knows there is something that is returning to him as a result of his engagement.
You see, when you recognize that your labour is not in vain, that there is something returning for you, then you are patient in your pursuit.
Shout Hallelujah! Church Gist. And the good news is this: Like the word of the Lord says, it says behold I come quickly, my reward is with me to give to every man according as his work shall be.
God will not delay the pay of those that labour. Therefore, I’ll like you to be rest assured that the labour that you have engaged in the kingdom shall be duly rewarded.
But it is important to be reminded that your tomorrow is defined by your today. And your today has been defined by your yesterday. So everything we do today is what create our tomorrow. So engage today and enjoy tomorrow. I see grace coming upon each one of us in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Would you rise on your feet to me this morning. Lift your hands before the Lord. Lord, I receive grace to maintain the mentality of an appointee. I receive grace. Lift your voice and pray that prayer from the depth of your heart.
- I receive grace this morning to maintain the mentality of an appointee. Church Gist. One appointed by you, assigned by you.
Lord, I receive grace. I am not a freelance labourer, I’m appointed by you, assigned by you. - Thank you mighty God and blessed be your Holy name. In Jesus’ precious name we have prayed.
Prayer- The grace you are called for, that grace will speak for you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Somebody believe it, say a loud ‘Amen’.
It is done! In Jesus’precious name.
