The Power of God’s Word. Hebrews 4:12. The Word of God is more powerful than sickness, it can deal with cancer. It’s more powerful than spiritual bondage. The Word of God can root out ancestral foundations. It’ll pierce and divide. Church Gist. The Word is powerful and gives power. Because it is powerful, it can give any vegetable power, anybody can be empowered by God’s word. Any weakling can be empowered by God’s Word. That means, the Word of God is strong and it gives strength. Church Gist. How strong? As strong as a rock and a hammer. Matthew 7:24-25.
When you know the Word of God, you’re not afraid of the future, you have found a rock. Church Gist. People come and go, you’re not moved. People change, times change, you’re not shaken. Where are your primary school mates and secondary school best friends? You don’t need them as you need the Word of God. Church Gist. I know your father loves you but what of when he goes to glory. Your mother loves you, “my mother is my everything”, what of when she’s called home? Get the Word. Don’t be deceived, if you deceive yourself, you’re in for shame and disgrace.
Psalm 119:28. This is why I can’t suffer depression, I am too Word-loaded to suffer depression. Somebody asked me, “this your journey with us, any regrets?” I said, “no regrets, only lessons”. Your mind is not a dustbin, stop accommodating obsolete memories there. Church Gist. All the people that looked for your trouble in primary school, you have them there, is your mind a dustbin? All the people that abused you in secondary school, you have them in mind. Delete all those obsolete files. Philippians 4:8. Church Gist. Saturate yourself with those things.
- Word of God, you’re my rock! Shout three loud Amen.
Psalm 119;28. There’s no experience you can’t recover from when you locate the Word of God. Can I tell you something? If you recover, people won’t mind what you went through. Church Gist. The only reason why they’re looking at you as if you’re cursed is because you have refused to recover. Once you recover, nobody bothers about what you went through. It doesn’t matter. There’s nothing you can’t survive, just make sure you recover. You’re not the first person to lose a job, recover. You’re not the first person to lose a friend or the first to be betrayed. Church Gist. Their betrayal is their flaws and failure, not your own. Don’t be a victim of another person’s failure. Recover! It is one friend that betrayed you, there are 8 billion others in the world. Wake up!
- shout, “by the Word of God, I recover, I am strengthened”.
Don’t live with a melted soul, heaviness everytime. Don’t you have quiet time? Don’t you read the Word of God? Church Gist. Always sad, “Nobody knows the things I’ve been through”. Stop singing the songs of destruction, sing the songs of deliverance, “I am what God says I am”. The Bible says, “He will compass us with songs of deliverance”, not songs of depression, woes and sorrows.

By the next day, you’re already bouncing, you enter the office as if you’re not the one they looked for trouble.
- I prophesy, recover by the Word of God, recover your joy, peace, health, strength and favour. Shout, “I recover”.
The winds will blow, the storms will comes, the waves will rise, but I am built and established on a rock, I have found a rock. The Word is a rock.
- somebody shout, “no challenge”, after everything, no challenge, after all they did, no challenge, after all their conspiracy, no challenge, I am built on a rock, I am founded on a rock, I am grounded on a rock, I am standing on a rock.
Somebody, that right there was the whole reason why God brought you to Church. The rest is extra. You’re going back beaming with smiles and full of joy. Church Gist. They don’t need to like you, you have found a rock. They don’t need to change, you have found a rock. They don’t need to apologize, you came with your strength, joy and peace.
There’s Power in the Word of God. Coming to Church is not just a religion. No, you can’t tell me that you didn’t need to fuel your car, it’s because you’re not going anywhere. Church Gist. If you’re busy going anywhere, you will fill every tank. “Eh, the last time I was here, I think it was two weeks ago. I think it was cool, I was blessed, but I’ve been kind of busy”. Oga, you’re on standstill. I know you’re going to work but in the spirit realm, you’re in a cage, no progress. If you’re moving in the Spirit, you need fuel and that fuel is the Word of God. Church Gist. I don’t envy anybody that has no time for God’s Word. It’s a matter of time, he will be grounded. Doesn’t matter how much your savings is, you’re on your way down. But if you refuel by the Word of God, the Bible calls you, “The Wise Virgin”. Don’t be deceived that your lamp is burning, make sure that you store up extra oil in your vessel. That is, oil that you’re not using now, you’re just collecting it and piling it up. Why? The journey is great. Church Gist. Usher that hasn’t ushered for two weeks, you’re on standstill. If you like, go to all the markets in the world, you’re on standstill. Chorister, you have not worn your robe, that robe that Angels recognize. Listen to me, you have a name you’re alive but you’re dead. What should you do? Church Gist. Wake up now. Children teacher, wake up, a crown is about to leave your head. People that are busy burning fuel, they refuel.
- in the name of Jesus, receive strength by the Word of God.
We need to understand the vital connection between God’s Word and God’s Power because this month is full of power. Church Gist. If you’re going to have the fullness of God, you need to be full of Power. Every month, we pick one aspect that you need to be full of. You can’t say that you’re carrying the fullness of God and satan is just messing up with your finances and you have no reply, no answer. Satan is just playing with your health, no power to tell him, “who are you? Where are you going? Stop!” You need to be full. It is these elements filling and saturating you that equals fullness of God. Church Gist. One of these elements is the Word that will make you full of Power.
Hebrews 1:3. The Word of God is Power Word. Synonymous with Power. That’s how connected it is. Church Gist. It’s the Word of His Power. It is Power in vocal form. Power in lyrics. When you’re reading Matthew 7:24, you’re reading power into yourself, you’re meditating on Power. You’re storing up Power. You carry the Word full and Power empty, it’s not possible. Another connection you need to notice is that the God of all Power is also called the Word. John 1:1. Church Gist. So, when I am taking in the Word of God, I am taking in elements of the all powerful one. Why is that if a person is angry with you, different elements from that person can transmit that anger tension, the look can transmit the anger and you’ll feel it and react. The silence can transmit the anger, it’s called cold war, and you’ll know it, unless you’re firewood. But if you’re a living thing, it’s a stimulus you can discern. Physical contact can also transmit that anger if the person is still demon possessed. Church Gist. A slap transmits the anger, you will feel it, the same way you felt the frown and the snubbing for 3 days. Also, the words can project that anger and you feel it. Yes or No? That’s a man that is not all powerful. How much more God, God whose name is Word. Whatever He is, when you come into the vicinity of His Word, you can download it. Whatever God is, has or can do. Via the Word of God, you can download it and see it produce results. Church Gist. He sent forth His Word. Because He’s a healer, His Word, “Heal them”, because He’s a deliverer, His word, “deliver them”. Ask your neighbour, “how close are you to the Word?”
Why do you wait until all the fuel in your tank dries up? You want to park in the middle of nowhere in the journey of life? Is that where you want to end?
- May you never be grounded when your children need you most. May you never be stranded when life calls upon you to a husband, father or a mother. Because now that you’re a girl, you’re running but the fuel can’t carry far, just after one year of marriage, fuel finished and they wonder why you’re a bad wife. It’s not that you’re bad but you ran out of life. So, you store up for the journey ahead.
You’re not deceived by the fact that you have a job now, you know that the journey is far. You’re not deceived by the fact that you’re driving a car now. Church Gist. A day will come when you need to change that car and the cost of cars then might be 3× the one you bought now, so you’re storing up fuel. Don’t be deceived by where you are now. What are the diseases that harass people in your family at the age of 60? Don’t you know you will be 60 one day? You store up for the journey ahead, so that you will trample on serpents and scorpions as if you’re not from that same family. Church Gist. You’re far above, seated in Heavenly places, exalted by Word. That’s what makes the difference.
You can live on the same earth and yet operate in a different universe because you’re operating on a different Word frequency. Church Gist. In the same earth, in the same city, but you’re operating under a different atmosphere. Like Isaac, “dwell in this land”, a Word, instantly, his business operated under a different atmosphere. Others are drying up, he’s flourishing. Why? “A Word”. “I’m checking out, I’m checking out”, you can’t check out and phase out, no trace, fizzle out, erased from relevance. Why? Because you didn’t learn the lesson Isaac learnt. “Go not down, dwell in this land”, “Yes, Sir”. Private atmosphere, it’s like an air-conditioned car. Everybody is sweating, you’re just chilling, inside the same environment but under a different atmosphere, created by the Word of God. Church Gist. That was what happened to Isaac, Moses and Abraham. A Word changes life. Genesis 12:1-3. That is why I can’t miss service unless it is absolutely, practically.
- meet 7 people and say, “get the Word”, while they’re laughing at you, get the Word, while they’re mocking you, get the Word, while they’re calling you names, get the Word.
Get the Word, you’re not in competition with anybody. Whoever thinks they’re better than you, time will tell. Get the Word. Get some Word into your Spirit. Church Gist. Genesis 26:1-14. These are people whose lives were changed by the Word of God. “Get thee out of thy father’s house”, God told Abraham. “Go not down to Egypt”, God told Isaac. Is that not clear Word? I’m asking you again, how near are you to God’s Word or how far are you from God’s Word. Beloved, you’re on your own. Somebody you’re helping today will overtake you and you’ll be begging for help tomorrow, so you better settle down. “I know what I’m doing”, you don’t know the Word like the one who created it. Church Gist. All things were made by Him and without Him was anything made that was made. Hallelujah!
How does the Word of God empower us?
- It imparts the life of God. It impacts the Zoe, vitality and potency of God. Quick means living. It imparts life, so you become living and potent. John 5:24. Potency. Church Gist. Everything about you comes alive. Divine life crosses through your veins. Everytime you hear the Word of God, you have just received a Divine life IV drip. Philippians 2:16 calls the Word of God the Word of life. It gives life, it quickens life, it imparts life, it injects life. John 6:68 calls it the life of life eternal. This is real Power. The first sign of power among living things is life. It’s not muscles, be alive first. If you’re alive, you can build muscles. Church Gist. Living and active. Hebrews 4:12.
- I pray for somebody here, any part of you that was not alive, as you purpose in your mind to embrace the Word from now, receive Life in the name of Jesus!.
Don’t be a boring Christian, Church member, husband or wife, get into the Word of God, come alive! “My dear, leave those things, do you know how old I am?” Old age is not a disease, old age is not a virus. Purge yourself of that deception. Your unbeliever counterparts are still attending parties at the age of 65 and you’re under a blanket covering yourself, what is wrong with you? Church Gist. Is it a minus to know God? Be transformed by renewing of mind. You have life coursing through your veins. Don’t be a vegetable. Stop telling your children that you’re finished. What have you finished? Using your own mouth to invite premature death. “I’ve finished, what else am I looking for? I’ve reached the peak of my career” what career? Do you think that it is written in heaven that you’re an accountant? No, Heaven wrote that you’re a city. You’re not a medical doctor or a banker, you’re a city. Being a banker is just one of the plenty things programmed for that city. Church Gist. So you’ve not finished. “I’ve reached the peak of my profession”, what profession? Civil service? If I catch you.
- swing your body, say, “I’m just starting, there are ideas, visions and dreams inside me”. Shout, “I’m alive”.
- It imparts the Holiness and Purity of God. One of the things that weakens any substance is impurity. Impurities lower quality and potency. Church Gist. When you mix groundnut oil inside diesel, you lower the quality and integrity of that diesel. So, when the Word of God purifies you, it’s empowering you to be a person of quality. Quality without ancestral impurity. Quality without temperamental and emotional impurity. So, the Word of God continuously washes and purifies you. It is not just so that you don’t go to hell, it is so that you manifest the real quality of who you should be. Church Gist. The real intensity of who you’re meant to be. So that you’re not operating below quality. John 17:17. Ezekiel 23:29. Eye gates, you have seen things you shouldn’t see, ear gates, you’re hearing things you shouldn’t hear, mouth gate, you’re being provoked to say things you shouldn’t say and then you pick up the Word to read – it washes you. Ephesians 5:25-27. The same you can poison your life by being far from God’s Word.
Romans 1:4. Jesus operated in a realm of impurity and so His operation in power was perfect. Pure knowledge, pure character, pure virtue, pure thought. Everything about Jesus was 100% pure. Now I say, “Lord, how come Jesus was that pure?” He said, “Jesus did not just know the Word, He didn’t just search the Word, He didn’t just read the Word, He was the Word”. Yet, the Bible told us that His custom was reading the Word, despite being the Word. Church Gist. You, you’re not the Word, yet Wednesday service, you’re busy running up and down chasing men for paper called money. What a shame. So, they see you, your favour has been polluted by impurities. So, your favour cannot deliver results. “Father Lord, I believe you”, Your faith is not pure, it has not been washed.
- As the Lord liveth, the Word of God washes you in Jesus’ name.
That is why, if you’re not born again, you must surrender yourself at this altar today for washing.
- somebody say, “I am washed”.
- It imparts the Joy of the Lord. The Word of the Lord fills you with joy. Why? The Word of God is goodnews. There’s nothing like goodnews in a bad day, in a bad world, in a bad family. Church Gist. Goodnews is like a breath of fresh air. That goodnews brings glad tidings of great joy. Never you be too busy for God’s Word. Don’t try it. Romans 10:15. The Word is glad tidings. It gladdens your heart. Psalm 19:8. Jeremiah 15:16. “I’m not just happy”, you’re just reporting yourself that you’re zero in the Word. Church Gist. So what do I do? Open the book, search the scriptures, take in some joy capsules, let it begin to bubble. The rejoicing of your heart and after a while, it’ll bubble out of you.
Too many people give themselves the padlock to their own prison of sadness. “If I smile, he’ll think it didn’t pain me, so let me frown, let him know it pained me”, and at the end, high blood pressure. You got the sorry but now you have high blood pressure. Church Gist. A man’s sorry is not equal to your good health, it does not equal your prosperity. Isaiah 12:3. It doesn’t equal your favour. How can you not favour Joseph? He’s a happy man. That guy has a vow to be happy. So, you can’t keep him down, you can’t. He has vowed to be joyful. So, life cannot keep him down. It’s not possible. David has vowed to be full of joy. “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually… “. You can’t hang around my wife, my wife sings 24/7. I’m glad I married her. You know that’s what the Bible says, “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom”. Church Gist. You begin to sing. When you’re Word-full, you’re joy-full, you’re song-full, you’re melody-full and you’re power-full. Nehemiah 8:10.
What’s my counsel to you?
- Recognize and value God’s Word. Value God’s Word more than a business appointment. Church Gist. It’s a shame that a man kept you away from communion service. It’s a disgrace. The problem that will come out of that mistake, no man will rescue you from it. Purpose in your heart, never again. Every sunday, every Wednesday, as a worker, every workers’ meeting day. Somebody say, “Word appointment”. Have you ever heard of Doctor’s appointment, business appointment? Now write there, Word appointment, schedule it in your life, schedule it in your day, schedule it ahead of time. Church Gist. You don’t have free time, you just have unplanned time. That’s your problem. That thing you call free time, it’s time for something but you’re ignorant, you don’t know the thing. What you have is unplanned time, so, begin to recognize and value.
How many of you know that if you have two things to do, “Kai, I’m tired I want to go and sleep but I must submit this proposal first thing tomorrow morning, even though I’m tired, let me finish it”, you have made a choice by weighing two options and you have chosen the valuable one. Luke 10:42. Church Gist. Do you know that Joy is an anointing? It is called the anointing of joy. I don’t need someone to tell me sorry as much as I need the anointing. I need the anointing more than I need sorry. So, when you have Word appointment and business appointment, which one should you choose if you’re truly a person that knows Jesus? When you have sleeping appointment and Word appointment, which one should you use? Hunger appointment and Word appointment, market appointment, “na for evening my market dey sell”, Mammon will not kill you. Make up your mind, from now on, “I will recognize and value God’s word.” Luke 10:41-42. What did Mary choose? What Martha choose? Luke 10:39-40. Church Gist. She was not sick, but a future was coming. she was not looking for deliverance, she’s already been delivered but a future was coming. That is why Martha has faded out, Mary’s name is still flying. Martha has fizzled out, lover of God but no future. Why? That breaking Word appointment. Don’t be like that.
- Hear God’s Word repeatedly. Hearing and hearing. Hearing on Sunday, come and hear again on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. This time, you’re the one dishing it out. Hear again next Sunday, hear again on Monday. Hearing and hearing. Romans 10:17. That’s what God wants you to do.
- somebody say, “I must hear God’s Word repeatedly”
Proverbs 4:20-22. So, don’t say, “I read”, don’t stop there. Don’t say, “I got the CD”, don’t stop there. It’s hearing and hearing and hearing.
- Memorize God’s Word passionately. Put it in your mind and your heart. Psalm 119:9-11. Colossians 3:16. So you have to hear and hear till you now commit it to memory.
- Apply God’s Word urgently. The Word of God and moves swiftly. So, people who are swift are the people who see the fruit and the benefit of God’s word. Church Gist. Learn to apply it urgently. Don’t contemplate, no, move and act on it. Step out on it, don’t delay, move on the Word of God. John 2:5. Luke 5:6. So, this Word you’re hearing today, every business person here, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be in a breakthrough blast. As your Pastor, that is my revelation, that’s my understanding. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be in a breakthrough blast. No excuse. Come and receive upgrade, advantage over others. Church Gist. There’s no reason why any son and daughter of this house should not be seated here in Wednesday service. No excuse, no reason. That’s how to apply the Word of God urgently.
- Sow into God’s Word excitedly. As you hear the Word, like Noah, raise an altar. Genesis 8:20-22. Like Abraham, raise an altar. Genesis 12:7. Church Gist. sow into the Word of God, don’t just nod, pray and say Amen, no, sow into the Word of God excitedly and joyfully. Psalm 126:5-6.
