GIVES THE PROCEDURE FOR HIS PROPOSED PRAYER AND FASTING FOR NIGERIA FROM NOVEMBER 26TH TO DECEMBER 2ND
THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD ANNOUNCES THE DATE FOR HER ANNUAL CONGRESS TO BE FROM 5TH TO 10TH OF DECEMBER WITH THEME, “DOUBLE PORTION”

At long last, the Congress is around the corner from December 5 to 10 this year by the grace of God, we will be talking about ‘DOUBLE PORTION.’ This is going to be one congress that we will never forget. I told you before by the grace of God, those of you who are ready to join me, there will be a fast between 26th of November and 2nd of December. Church Gist. December 2nd would have been Holy Ghost Service if it were not Congress month. So, that will help you to locate the time.
Now, every day in all our Churches during those days of fasting, we will gather before 6pm. At 6pm on the dot, we will begin to pray. There will be no ceremonies; we just want to pray for one solid hour 6-7. Our prayer points will be only 3.
- We will praise God for His patience over us and over our nation.
- We will confess our sins: the sins of all us who are called Christians because as the text we will be reading will tell you, if there’s a problem in the land and we have problems in the land now. Church Gist. Things seem to be getting funnier and funnier and if you don’t learn to laugh in Nigeria now you will develop hypertension. Whatever we’ve done wrong, particularly we Christians that we haven’t prayed enough. (2 Chronicles 7:14).
- We ask Him for mercy because you know what’s going on in our country, it doesn’t even make sense anymore. Our Naira now is not even worth the paper it is printed on. Church Gist. While people are hungry, trying to find enough money to buy bread to eat our Moses are thinking of making the Naira more beautiful that is, even if it can’t buy bread, at least it will look beautiful.
We give Him a thanksgiving offering and we go. You do that for 6 days; then on the 7th day which is December the 2nd, we will gather here. By then we will have gone round the wall of Jericho 6 times. On the 7th day, we will gather. When we gather, we will start at 7 because some of us will come from far. At 7 (pm) on the dot, we will begin to praise Him. Church Gist. On that day, we could sing and dance in anticipation of answers to our prayers. After that we will have one solid hour of individual praise that will be followed by one solid hour of asking Him to forgive us. Then there will be one hour of us crying to Him for mercy. After that, we leave the rest to Him.
God must be merciful unto us. We will have to hold on to Him and say, ‘Please help.’ Do you know that up till now, and this is November, Daddy hasn’t told me YET that there’s going to be an election next year. We continue of course as if there’s going to be; I am saying that, Adeboye, I am not talking of other people, God has not told me YET. Church Gist. He may tell me tomorrow, I don’t know; but as of this moment that I am sitting before you, He hasn’t told me YET whether or not there will be an election next year.
Of course as usual, anybody who comes to me and he says, “pray for me,” I will pray for them. That’s my duty but it is up to God to answer. Church Gist. I am not trying to frighten you; I am not telling you that I know something secret that you don’t know; I am not a prophet I am just a pastor; but I am your Pastor. We need to pray. So I expect to see all of you on Friday the 2nd of December; come ready to pray.
The theme for this month is LET IT RAIN. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. Church Gist. If you are not praying it means you are not humble; you are proud.
What is Rain? Rain is simply water falling from Heaven in drops; several drops of water descending from Heaven. But in the spiritual realm, rain is associated with blessings. Church Gist. Like I have always told you, blessings come from above. In Ezekiel 34:26, God called blessings showers. Rain is associated with God’s pleasure – Deuteronomy 28:1-13. Rain leads to surplus – Amos 4:7. Exodus 16:4 tells us that God can rain down bread (food) from Heaven so rain is associated with divine supply. Isaiah 55:10 tells us that rain is associated with fruitfulness.
Lack of rain is a curse; a sign that God is displeased. Deuteronomy 28:14-24, Deuteronomy 11:17. No rain means no harvest. Church Gist.Rain is symbolic of hope, restoration and revival. Job 14:7-9. Rain is symbolic of divine favour – Proverbs 16:15.
HOW IS GOD INVOLVED IN THE ISSUE OF RAIN?
Jeremiah 5:24. God is the giver of rain. 1 Kings 17:1. God is the controller of rain and that’s why when He wants to give rain, he normally wants to give it moderately – Joel 2:23. Church Gist. Why moderately? If it is too much, it becomes what we call a flood; a problem. Genesis 17.
We can now see the reason why we must pray to God; we need the rain; we need it moderately. We need to contact the one who gives rain to give it to us and give it to us appropriately. 1 Kings 8:35-36. So how do we pray tonight?
Of course we will start by praising Him – Psalm 100:4. Psalm 22:3. Where God is, there is no possibility of dryness because His name is Jehovah El-Shaddai (The God who is more than enough).
We Worship Him- John 4:23-24. And we must all be ready to confess and forsake our evil ways so that we can obtain mercy.
We want to pray specific prayers tonight.
- We want to ask Him to rain healings upon us. Why do we want to ask Him to rain healings upon us? In John 5:2-9, only one fellow got a drop of the rain and he was healed. Whereas there was enough rain available through Jesus Christ; so much rain of healings that His dress was soaking with healing power. Church Gist. Mark 5:25-34. Now, there was a time when it rained on all the people and they all got well. Matthew 8:14-17.
Several years ago when the Holy Ghost service was just beginning, I went to pray preparing for the Holy Ghost Service, crying to God that He will perform miracles. I was in the very first auditorium by the expressway. And God told me, “Shut up. Am I your house boy? All I want you to do is just keep on worshipping me; praising me.” At that time, it was a weekend program – Friday and Saturday. Church Gist. That Friday, 14,000 people were healed; that was practically everybody. We were so few we could count. When we left the place, myself and my senior pastors, we went into my vestry and I was praising God and God spoke to me and said, ‘I will heal more tomorrow.’ ‘Ah! You have healed everybody naa (because we were just a little over 14,000 at that time.)’ But the following day, when the people who got healed got home and they began to testify, the second day, God healed 16,000 extra. That God is here today!
Prayer: Father, please let it rain healings upon everybody.
- We are going to ask Him to rain abundance on all of us because His name is Jehovah El-Shaddai. Genesis 17:1. His name is the God that is more than enough – Psalm 68:19. He has plenty and He is not stingy. 1 Kings 17:8-16. In 2 Kings 4:1-7, John 6:5-13, Luke 8:1-3. I’m just wondering what will happen if God will rain abundance on all of us and in a miraculous way, we all become billionaires. I remember my first year as General Overseer, we wanted to buy a small bus. Church Gist. The small bus was going to cost us 10,000 Naira; Naira was powerful then. We wanted to buy a bus so that the General Overseer will stop going about by danfo. I called my people together, “Please I need a 100 people to give me a 100 Naira each.” So some people came out; I counted the number and it was less than 70. I begged and pleaded; it took more than one hour before I could find 100 people who had at least a 100 Naira to share. When finally we got 100, I wept. Why did I weep? I had a rough idea what my salary was as a lecturer in the University. Now, we needed a 100 people with a 100 Naira each to buy a bus and it took a lot of persuasion to find. They wanted to give; they couldn’t afford it. Church Gist. Since that time I have been crying to God that in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, poverty will become a stranger. Asking for a 100 people to give a 100 Naira at that time is like asking for 100 people to give a billion Naira today.
Prayer: Father, open the Heavens, rain abundance on us!
- Father, if they need 3 things to do the work of this mission, let me be one of them
- We are going to ask Him to rain down mercy. Ephesians 2:4. Mercy can do what nothing else can do. Mark 1:40-45, Mark 10:46-52. Bartimaeus’ prayer was answered instantly because he got a drop of mercy. Stagnation came to an end in his life. Church Gist. Matthew 15:21-28. Daddy asked me to tell someone, ‘I will soften the ground for you.’ I told you of a woman who had a real family problem. When I hear a testimony, I try to imagine, ‘Supposing it is me?’
- I decree tonight, the problems you are hiding under your beautiful cloth, the Almighty God will put an end to it!
When someone was testifying today about a child that was mad, and all the hospitals said they can’t take this one, and then God the Almighty got involved. The elders have a saying. They said, “Death is better than shame.” My eldest sister lost her husband almost 40 years ago and because the 2 of them were very intimate, my sister refused to be consoled. Then one neighbour came to visit her and said, “You lost your husband therefore you refused to eat? Follow me.” Church Gist. My sister was wondering, ‘Follow you?’ she said it with force and so my sister followed her. When they got to her own house, there was a door leading to a room locked. There was an animal inside the room roaring and my sister was afraid. ‘What kind of animal are you keeping in your room?’ and she said ‘that’s not an animal; you people have been asking me where my brother has gone and I told you he travelled; he is the one inside there.’ my sister came back quickly and nobody had to beg her anymore.
- That family problem that is an embarrassment to you, my God will remove it today!
Matthew 15:21-28. The woman got a drop of mercy and the family problem came to an end. Now, Bible tells me, Romans 9:15-16, your success is only because God has decided to be merciful unto you. Matthew 14:14.
Prayer: Lord, open the windows of Heaven and rain mercy on us all!
- We want God to rain down power on all of us. From almost the very first day I got born again, I had this thing in me that says, “I don’t want to be an ordinary Christian. If God can give power to anybody, let Him give it to me.” How many of you will like to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons? So shall it be! Church Gist. Psalm 62:11; Isaiah 40:28-31; Samson got a drop of the power of God and a single man defeated a thousand of his enemies – Judges 15:14-15. If one fellow got a drop of the power and he can deal with a thousand of the enemies and the Word of God says if one can chase a thousand, 2 will put 10,000 to flight, can you imagine what will happen if all of us are to be endued with power from on high? In Acts 2:1-4, Acts 5:12-16.
- From tonight, your rainy season begins!
I will like you to leave this place tonight with enough power at least to save the members of your family. I’ve told you something that happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma 1979. My father in the Lord, myself and 4 others were in an hotel – huge hotel. And one morning, my Father in the Lord called us to his room and announced to us that he will soon be going home and that Pastor Adeboye will be succeeding him. Church Gist. We were all shocked; I fell down and everybody began to pray seriously. Very soon we heard a knock at the door. I was at the door so I opened the door and the engineer of the hotel was standing at the door. And he said, “You people, what kind of instrument are you playing?” Instrument? We are not playing and instrument; we are praying. He said no! I got out of his way, he entered into the room, searched everywhere and saw nothing. On his way out he turned to me and said, ‘What did you say you people were doing?’ I said we were praying. I said why are you asking and he said because the hotel is shaking and we have traced the shaking to this room. They didn’t believe we were praying; so after the guests left, they didn’t take new guests. As soon as they cleared us out of the place, they shut down the hotel. They dug round the foundation to look for what is wrong and they couldn’t find anything. And the hotel remained shut for 30 years until one day I went to visit the place with my children. Church Gist. I said, this is the hotel I was talking to you about (It was still closed). And I was moved by compassion, went close to the hotel, laid my hands on the wall and prayed a simple prayer and they reopened it 6 months later.
6 people prayed, the power of God fell and the hotel shook and it was locked for 30 years. We are more than 6 here tonight; I need an earth quake here for you, to destroy every yoke in your life, in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and in Nigeria.
Prayer: Father, rain down power on us tonight.
- We want God to rain down on us joy. I don’t like sorrow and I don’t think the fellow who loves sorrow is here tonight.
- All of you who don’t like sorrow, sorrow won’t come near your family again!
Psalm 16:11. There is no scarcity of joy in Heaven. Luke 7:11-15. The woman got a drop of joy because she met Jesus on the way. Church Gist. Mark 5:35-43, Jesus drove out those who were weeping.
- Everything that is causing sorrow in your family, God will drive out today!
Better still was what happened in Acts 8:5-8, can you imagine a whole city full of joy? Church Gist. Instead of some of the situations we find ourselves in where everywhere you turn, people are mourning?
- The Almighty God will turn the tide for us!
One of my spiritual sons and he has his own ministry came and begged me and won’t let me rest for a whole year. ‘Daddy you must come to my village.” I said, “What is it? You are a great man of God yourself, go and handle your village.” He said I must come and so I asked what’s the problem? Church Gist. He said there’s never a year when the whole city was not mourning. So I said since I was going to be near that town anyway, I said I will come. So I went to the town, the whole town gathered. We prayed and I left. The year later, my son came to me and he was dancing. I said why are you dancing? He said it is over a year now and nobody had died in my town.
- There will be no more sorrow in your town, no more weeping, premature death.
Prayer: Father, rain joy upon us.
For it to rain, Heaven must open. Let it rain therefore means let us operate under open Heavens. For you to understand that, in Matthew 3:16-17, for the rest of Jesus’ life he operated under open Heavens and that’s why miracles, signs, wonders followed him. Acts 10:38. Church Gist. When the devil opened unto Him, the Holy Spirit (The power of the Almighty God) came and alerted upon Him. Why did God choose this topic for November? In 2 Kings 2:9-15, when Elisha said he wants a double portion, Elijah said, “Unless the Heavens open.”
I believe the Almighty God wants to open the Heavens to some of us so that by the time we come for the Congress, we will be ready for Double Portion. You will think that I should have said that the Heaven will open to ALL us and not SOME of us. Church Gist. The unfortunate thing is that it is not everybody here who is a child of God. All manner of people call me Daddy but they don’t know my God; and if you call me Daddy and you are not born again, you are just joking. Open Heavens leads to Double Portion. But for Heavens to open, you have to become one of His own
