Father, we thank you and we honour you in Jesus’ precious name.
Lift your voice now and speak to the Lord. Lord send me my word on this 21st day of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. Send me a concluding word. Church Gist. I am ready for another dimension of your word this morning.
Heavenly Father your Word says on the last day of the feast, you cried out and said if any man thirsts, let him come. Lord we are thirsty, we have come. We are desperate, we have come. Therefore satisfy us again. Church Gist. Let your word come with power this morning. Let your word come with fire this morning. By the blood, we gain access to this Holy Word. Holy Spirit have your way, glorify Jesus in our midst in Jesus’ precious name.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN MY PRAYER IS ANSWERED? That is the topic we are looking at today in the second service. Church Gist. I want to encourage every one of us to be attentive not just physically but in the spirit because things will be opening up to us on this final day.
How do I know when my prayer is answered? We just understand by way of introduction that prayer is a two way communication channel. Prayer is a two way communication channel. That means it is beyond one person speaking, it must graduate to the other person answering. Three very powerful and fire filled scriptures. Jeremiah 33:3. In the precious name of Jesus before this final day of the 21 days of prayer and fasting is over. God will answer you and I. That means in the place of prayer be on the lookout for an answer and be on the lookout for a showing. Matthew 7:7-8. Church Gist. Because you and I have asked, by the revelation coming our way you and I will receive. Exodus 19:19. You know we are just in the process of descending from this mountain. In the name of Jesus before our final descent, God will answer you and I with a voice. But we also find three examples in scriptures. One didn’t know when his prayer was answered, two of them knew when their prayer was answered. In fact, let’s put it this way: Number 1 didn’t know when their prayer was answered. Number 2 knew that their prayer will be answered. Number 3 knew when their prayer was answered.
Example 1 is in Acts 12:5-12. The brethren were praying for the release of Peter that was kept in prison. Fervent prayer, praying the mind and the will of God but did not know when the prayer was answered. When Rhoda said Peter is already at the door, they said it is too early for the prayer to be answered. Church Gist. They said to Rhoda, you must be mad. We know that we are praying to a God that answers but we don’t know that He has already answered us. As I am speaking to somebody right now, God is saying to you “I have already answered that prayer point”.
Example 2 is the example of Elijah. 1 Kings 18:24. He had not prayed yet but He knew the protocol. He knew it was guaranteed an answer. Did he get the answer or not? Did his God answer by fire or not? Church Gist. I speak to someone here that your God who is the God of Elijah and the God of our Moses here in this Commission, Bishop David Oyedepo will answer you by fire.
Example 3 is the example of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. John 11:41. Are you seeing the difference? One didn’t know when prayer was answered, the other knew prayer will be answered and the last, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ knew when His prayer was answered. Church Gist. In the name of Jesus, these 21 days will not be a wasted one for you and I.
Now I want to show us seven very quick ways that we know when our prayer is answered:
1. When I have prayed with all my heart.
We are personalizing it now, we can’t say “when we..” but “when I…”. Jeremiah 29:13. James 5:16 AMPC. He quickly showed us that was the kind of prayer Elijah prayed. James 5:17. One man had the climate at his command because his heart was in order. Before the fast ends, make sure everything you have prayed was with all your heart not with some of your heart. God gave one man the key to determine when rain fell and when rain did not fall because his heart was engaged. Church Gist. I like to say very importantly that this first point is what gives the signal to the two way communication channel. Your heart. Without your heart, there is no network. You can imagine trying to call. Screaming the name of the person on the other end with no network. Your heart determines the strength of your network. Some have one bar, others have full bar. Some have graduated from full bar LTE to 5G. That is without limit because their heart is engaged.
2. When I have prayed according to the will of God.
1 John 5:14-16. People forget that the anything is according to His will so they are asking and there is no answer. The will of God is the word of God. Church Gist. Therefore you never find any prayer giant who has no clue of the Word of God. There must be the word involved in your prayer. When you pray His word back to Him, He hears your voice. We must ask according to the will of God.
This is another dimension of the will of God and how it works. The will of God must be confirmed in every two or three witnesses. This is very crucial. There are people who take one verse of scripture and pray and it seems there is no answer. Why? 2 Corinthians 13:1. In 2009 I was teaching at the Word of Faith Bible Institute in Raji Oba and it was a faith class. I said there is absolutely nothing God can not deliver to you today and people were wondering, this is not prayer class, this is faith class. Church Gist. If you can find three scriptures on any matter and it strikes a cord in your heart, it is guaranteed that God will hear you. I am not talking about going to the Concordance to find scriptures that show you will prosper or two or three scriptures to show that shows that you are healed. It is the Spirit directing you because what fires up something in you, may not fire it up in me. So when you get these three scriptures and something is fired up in you. His word is supposed to be like fire in your bones. Then you know you have found His will. If you ask anything according to the will that has been fired up in you, He heareth us.
What does the will of God do? This gives the correct and complete digits on your two way communication call. There are people who have attempted to call but one digit was missing. Have you taken down the phone number of a person and promised to call later on and you got home and discovered the digits were not complete. No matter how desperate you are to speak, the digits are incomplete so the call cannot go through. No wonder I have discovered here in Nigeria anytime you give somebody your phone number they try it on the spot to ensure that the digits are complete. Church Gist. Now what God is saying is that when you find the two or three witnesses then digits are complete. Until the digits are complete the answer can not come. So hear me, your heart is the network signal while his while is the complete digits to reach out to Him. Not just complete but correct. There are people who have prayed with all their hearts but the digits are not correct. Didn’t you see that scripture? There must be two or three… so there is a limit to the numbers to put in for it to go through. May the will of God that fires up in your heart bring every one of your desires to pass.
