GOD KNOWS NO IMPOSSIBILITY. IMPOSSIBILITY IS A HUMAN VOCABULARY, IT IS NOT A DIVINE LANGUAGE.
GOD OPERATES IN THE REALM OF ABSOLUTE POSSIBILITY AND IT IS FAITH THAT CAUSES US TO ENTER INTO THAT REALM.
WHERE THE FORCE OF FAITH IS AT WORK, IT IS CONTRARY TO INTELLECT MANY TIMES.
FAITH IS ABOUT ENGAGING GOD AND GOD CANNOT BE CONFINED TO THE LIMITS OF MAN.
WHERE FAITH LACKS PROOF, THAT FAITH IS FAKE.
THERE IS NOTHING THE devil CAN BUILD UP THAT FAITH CANNOT PULL DOWN. EVERY TIME FAITH IS AT WORK, THE devil IS A NON-FACTOR.
CHALLENGES ARE COMMON TO ALL MEN BUT VICTORY IS COMMON TO MEN OF FAITH.
THE NAME OF JESUS CAN TACKLE ANYTHING, THE NAME CAN CHANGE ANYTHING, THE NAME CAN DELIVER ANYTHING
WE MUST BE CONSCIOUS OF THE POTENCY THE NAME OF JESUS.
THE CHALLENGE WITH MANY PEOPLE IS AFTER PRAYING THEY BEGIN TO COMPLAIN, AFTER PRAYING THEY BEGIN UTTERING WORDS THAT ARE CONTRARY TO WHAT THEY HAVE PRAYED FOR.
AFTER YOU PRAY, PRAISE! GIVE GLORY TO GOD! MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE.
THE LIFESTYLE OF FAITH IS A LIFESTYLE OF PRAISE
YOU MUST BE DARING, WHAT YOU ARE AFRAID TO CONFRONT YOU CANNOT EVENTUALLY CONQUER.
– Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr on “UNCOVERING THE ROOT OF FAITH THAT WORKS PART 4” at Wonder Sunday Service || First Sunday Service || Faith Tabernacle Canaanland
Our Father this morning we have come with voices full of gratitude and appreciation, we have come to give all the glory to you for all that you have done, all of the testimonies and visitations, for working salvation in our midst, we have come to say we are grateful. Here we are this morning on the last day of this prophetic season and according to your own wisdom, you always package the best for last. Church Gist. Therefore Lord this morning, give everyone a package for life. You have called this day our Wonder Sunday Service, let none of us depart without our package of wonders. Send us your wonders stirring Word this morning and let our lives be transformed in Jesus’ precious name we have prayed.
Our line of teaching for our Sunday services has been UNCOVERING THE ROOT OF THE FAITH THAT WORKS and we are taking the concluding part of this series in this service. The good news for you and me this morning is that as the Lord has spoken, today in our midst the Lord will do wonders. We have established all through this month that one of the fundamental characteristics of faith is that it is proof producing. It is evidential. Hebrews 11:1. Where there is no evidence, faith is fake. Where faith lacks proof, that faith is fake. John 10:37. So the evidence of our connectivity as far as faith is concerned is determined by the proof we command. It is important for us to be reminded also like we have been told that when faith comes alive, victory comes along. Church Gist. In other words, the presence of faith is the guarantee of victory. There is nothing the devil can build up that faith cannot pull down. Every time faith is at work, the devil is a non-factor. Our faith, therefore is what determines the outcome of our lives. We are not products of circumstances, we are products of faith. The definition of our destination is determined by faith. Where faith is available, you discover that manifestation is obtainable. So faith becomes a vital necessity in the adventure of life. It is not our opposition that determines our position, it is our faith that does. Matthew 11:12. Where faith is available, oppositions are nullified. Whatever stands as an opposition to anyone’s destiny shall be nullified in the name of Jesus.
It’s true that challenges are common to all. In fact, the Bible makes us understand that in 1 Corinthians 10:13. So challenges are common to all men but victory is common to men of faith. Where faith is available, victory is guaranteed. 2 Corinthians 2:4. Wherever faith is available, you are guaranteed the outcome of victory.
The question we have been trying to answer all through this month is: What is Faith? This morning we look briefly at three important descriptions.
1. Faith is not a religious ideology, it is a spiritual mystery.
1 Timothy 3:9. So faith is described in scripture as a mystery. When you talk about an ideology, you are talking about a system or combination of ideas that form a theory but faith is not theoretical, faith is practical. It is a mystery that provokes open proof. We are told from the scriptures that a mystery simply describes a hidden truth that commands open proof. Colossians 1:26. Manifest does not only mean that this mystery is shown to us but that this mystery makes a show of us. It provokes proof. It is shown to His saints and makes a show of His saints. Church Gist. For somebody hearing my voice this morning, the mystery of faith will make a show of your life. That means that even though it is hidden in nature, the evidence of it cannot be hidden in the life of a carrier. Where you find a man of faith, the proof around his life is evidence of the mystery that he carries. I believe that someone here this morning by the quickening of your faith, your life will become a mystery to behold. Your life will become a mystery to behold in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is so important. So faith is not an ideology, rather it is a mystery.
2. Faith is not an intellectual fact but it is a spiritual force.
Faith is not an intellectual fact, faith is a spiritual force. This is why you cannot subject faith to intellectual arguments. Where the force of faith is at work, it many times is contrary to intellect. 2 Kings 7:1-2. Please hear this: when it comes to faith, faith is about engaging God and God cannot be confined to the limits of man. God is not a man that is the Word of the Lord. Numbers 23:19. What you equate with men, you can not equate to God. Church Gist. The limitations you impose on men you cannot impose on God. Ephesians 3:20. God is not a man. Mark 10:27. When it comes to God, He knows no impossibility. Impossibility is a human vocabulary. It is not a divine language. When it comes to God you cannot use the language of impossibility because it does not exist with God. God operates in the realm of absolute possibility and it is faith that causes us to enter into that realm. So don’t subject your faith to the limitations of your intellect. It is not an intellectual force but it is a spiritual force.
3. Faith is not a belief system, faith is engaging the raw power of God.
When we talk about faith it is not a belief system, it is engaging with the raw power of God. When that woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of the garment of Jesus, Jesus said “Somebody touched me because virtue or power is gone out of me.” Every time faith comes alive, it comes in contact with the power of God. That a spoon is small does not mean you should not respect it, when it is connected to power. Church Gist. You don’t say “Oh, this is just a small teaspoon”, as long as that small teaspoon is attached to a wire that is connected to power, to play with it for its size is dangerous. In the same vein, when faith comes in contact with the power of God, the carrier of faith becomes a danger to hell. Somebody hearing my voice today, from this encounter onward you will become a danger to hell. Faith comes in contact with God’s power in order to deliver what we desire. From this encounter onward as your faith comes alive, the power of the highest will begin to flow in your direction.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5.
Faith does not stand in complex explanations, faith stands in the manifestation of divine power. It connects itself to power. That is the difference maker when it comes to faith. Faith is not about a belief system, No! It is not just “I believe this, I believe that so this is this and that” No! Church Gist. Faith is a connection to a power source. That power source is from on high, there is nothing below that can stand against it. From now on, I see your faith coming alive in that power in the name of Jesus. So it connects with the raw power of God.
The faith that works must have certain defining characteristics:
1. It must be daring
Exodus 14:15. They were standing in front of the Red Sea, yet God said tell them to go forward. Until you dare the sea, it will not go backwards. Go forward! Psalm 114:1-3. Until they took a step, the sea did not go backwards. You must be daring, what you are afraid to confront you cannot eventually conquer. Church Gist. Faith must be daring, the faith that works must be daring faith. That is why you discover in most cases that what the devil seeks to do is to paralyze the heart with fear because what you do not dare you can not take delivery of.
2. It must be rest proven faith
The faith that works must be rest proven. If you look at the testimony of Daniel in Daniel 6:4-10, you discover that when the people began to conspire against Daniel, Daniel was at rest, no jittering, no shaking, it looks as though there was no confrontation against him. His heart was at rest. No wonder when he went into the den, the lions were domesticated for that night. Every lion’s mouth was shut. Church Gist. Every one of them became like harmless cats simply because this man’s heart was at rest. His heart was not shifted. I pray for someone here today that from this time onward, your heart will be at rest.
3. God glorifying faith
The faith that will not keep quiet when it comes to giving glory to God. That is the faith that works. We have the example of Abraham in Romans 4:16-21. The God glorifying dimension of faith is the faith that works. Acts 16:23-30. After they prayed, they began to sing praises to God. No complaining, they began to celebrate. Church Gist. The challenge with many is after praying they begin to complain. After praying they begin uttering words that are contrary to what they have prayed for. After you pray, praise. Give glory to God, make it a lifestyle. The lifestyle of faith is a lifestyle of praise. From today, I see our lives becoming praise full lives in the name of Jesus.
In this Wonder Sunday Service, we shall be looking at this very important subject ‘UNVEILING THE TRIGGER FOR SIGNS AND WONDERS’. Someone here today will be entering into new dimensions of wonders.
It is important to note that the name of Jesus is a covenant trigger for signs and wonders. Mark 16:17-18. According to the scriptures, what He is telling us here are going to be products of faith. But how will the signs be triggered? In my name. The trigger for signs, the trigger for wonders is the name of Jesus. This implies that the name of Jesus is the custodian of signs and wonders. According to scriptures, the authority in that name is a gift from God to His son, Jesus. Philippians 2:9-11. So the name is a gift. That name that was given to Jesus as a gift has been handed over to you and me as believers. So every child of God is given the gift of His name. If you look at what the Bible says in Mark 16:17 we saw earlier, it says “in my name”. John 16:24. John 14:13-14. The name can tackle anything, the name can change anything. The name can deliver anything. Everything you came with today will be turned around by the name. As we engage that name, each one of us will depart with our package of wonders. We must be conscious of the potency of the name of Jesus. Acts 3:1-6. Church Gist. What did Peter have? “In the name of Jesus…” Peter saw the tangibility of the name. The name is not theoretical, it is tangible. He said ‘I am not carrying coins in my pocket but I am carrying something in my life and what I am carrying is the name of Jesus’ and suddenly by the name of Jesus that man’s predicament was overturned. This morning whatever predicament you are carrying by the name of Jesus it shall be overturned in the name of Jesus.
What is in the name of Jesus Christ? What does it carry? Because until you and I are conscious of its content, we cannot command it to deliver.
1. The name of Jesus carries in it salvation.
Acts 4:12. There is salvation in the name. It means that it is only through the name of Jesus there can be salvation. Salvation is in the name. Church Gist. That is why until a man confesses Christ, he can’t enter the kingdom. Until he confesses Christ, salvation is not in view.
2. The name of Jesus secures answers to our prayers.
If you want to secure answers to your prayers then the name becomes vital. John 14:13-14. The name of Jesus is our access code to answers. Where the name is not engaged you are not entitled to answers. Put it this way: prayer is supposed to be a relay race, it is a race that begins with man but ends with Christ. What do I mean? The Bible says that He ever liveth to make intercessions for us. That is what Jesus is busy doing among other things in heaven. Hebrews 7:25. So when a man begins the prayer, He is offering that prayer unto God but he then engages the name of Jesus, that is the handover of the prayer baton. Church Gist. You have put the prayer baton into the hand of Jesus, Jesus is taking it over and is now presenting the prayer on your behalf to God. The beauty is this, when Jesus approaches God, God will never turn Him back. So it is a relay race, in prayer we present our intercessions and supplications in the name of Jesus unto the Father. So the content is generated by man and the packaging is given by Christ and then offered unto God. As we engage the altar of prayer, there is an engagement of that name that provokes speedy answers.
3. There is healing virtue in the name.
There we engage the name of Jesus, there is a release of the virtue of healing. Acts 3:6. That man between verses 7 and 8 began to walk at the engagement of the name. Acts 3:16. Church Gist. So the healing of that man was the product of faith in the name. So when our faith comes alive in that name, there is a release of healing. A release of miracles, a release of signs, a release of wonders.
4. The name of Jesus is our strong tower on the day of battle.
No matter your confrontation, there is preservation in that name. There is rescue in that name. The name of Jesus is our strong tower. Proverbs 18:10. In the day of battle, the name of Jesus is your strong tower. I have shared before the testimony that in 2015, I was driving to Covenant Hour of Prayer in my last station and as I was rushing down, suddenly the car just turned on the highway, a six Lane Highway. The car just turned and began to face oncoming traffic, early morning and everywhere was dark. I saw trailers and trucks coming in my direction with full speed, it was like stirring death in the face. All I could say… At that point, there is no time for prayer point. Because in a split second as it were, anything was possible. But all I said was as calmly as I breathed ‘in the name of Jesus’, just as I said that, it was not loud, it was not a shout, it is a breathed out name “Jesus!”. Church Gist. The car turned on its own and faced the right direction. The steering wheel was locked, the gear was locked, I couldn’t press the accelerator, I couldn’t turn left or turn right, I couldn’t turn the car to the left or the right but the car was moving on its own to the side of the road and packed. I switched it off and switched it back on and the car came on and everything was loose. The name took over and delivered me from destruction. There is power in the name.
5. The name opens impossible doors to the saints
Revelation 3:7-8. When He that has the key is engaged by His name, the door is opened. Somebody hearing me today, every door that has been closed to you, every door that has hitherto refused to lift its head is opened to you in the name of Jesus.
6. The name of Jesus is self anointed to destroy yokes.
Songs of Solomon 1:3. When we engage the name, there is a release of unction, oil, anointing. That means inside the name is the anointing of Jesus Himself. What is the function of that anointing? Isaiah 10;27. This is that day. Whatever represents a yoke upon your neck, upon your shoulder, by the anointing that yoke is destroyed. The beauty is this, the anointing of Jesus is an anointing without limits. The Bible says that the Father gave unto Him, the Spirit with measure. Every man’s anointing is measured but the anointing of Jesus is immeasurable. Church Gist. That means that there is nothing that you bring in contact with the name that will not bow. That is why the Bible says every knee shall bow. So there is no yoke that will not be destroyed when it is in contact with the name. I don’t know what that yoke may be, maybe it is a career yoke, a business yoke, a family yoke, whatever yoke it may be. Whatever is tying your destiny down by authority in that name, I see your liberty established.
7. The name of Jesus establishes our dominion.
Philippians 2:9-10. Things in the heavens – angels, on the earth – men and under the earth – demons, every one of them bows to the authority of Jesus. Any man in possession of the name is a man in possession of the earth. You can’t lose charge when you carry the name. When you understand what the name carries, you are consciously and continuously in dominion. That is why you discover that the first thing the devil began to fight in the early Church was the name of Jesus. That was the first thing. Acts 4:15-20. That is why the devil in many instances is trying to make believers ashamed of the name. You find a believer who is in the public but cannot identify with the name of Jesus. Because the devil wants to stop the fountain of wonders. But no more! From now you and I will take Dominion. That is the power, the potency and the authority that is loaded in the name. Church Gist. When the name is engaged, dominion is naturally manifested. You can enter any atmosphere and charge it with the name. You can enter any environment and charge it with the name. I went to a particular place and there was all manner of satanic activities in that environment and I stood up that morning and I said in the name of Jesus, every one of these activities I command them subdued. That was the end, the environment responded. You don’t spray Baygon and you find mosquitoes negotiating. No! When the name is deployed, it is like Baygon to demonic mosquitoes out of the sky. Whatever is a demonic mosquito that seems to be tormenting any life by the authority of that name, they are subdued.
Lift your hand to heaven and give God thanks for the gift of the name of Jesus.
