We looked at ‘The Call for Revival’. Today, we are looking at: ‘THE CONDITIONS FOR REVIVAL’ Zechariah 10:1.
What conditions would we fulfill to have personal and generational revival?
1. Dissatisfaction with the status quo
Dissatisfaction with things as they are. Being tired of things as they are. In Deuteronomy 1:7, the summary is, you have stayed too long on this mountain. “Lord! I have remained on this spiritual level for too long. Lord, I have remained on this level of impact for too long. Lord, my life has been in a cycle for too long. Lord, my business has been on the same spot for too long”. Church Gist. God just deals with people who are dissatisfied with where they are. Your level does not change until you are tired of your last level.
2. Desperation for something more
There’s got to be more than this Philippians 3:10. Paul was speaking after 33 years of Ministry, after he has seen the blind see, the deaf hear, handkerchief and aprons left his body and healed the sick. Paul had seen so much yet he said: “There is something I don’t know yet, there is a department of God I don’t know yet, there is a dimension to God I am yet to see, there is a side of God I haven’t seen. Church Gist. Oh Lord! I know that handkerchiefs left my body and healed the sick. I’ve seen many great wonders and signs, but there is something more to God I haven’t seen”.
Desperation for more is key to revival. Do you remember, in the story of the Prophet’s widow in 2 Kings 4? When the woman was in debt and her children were to be taken captives and Elijah told her to get empty vessels. God does not deal with vessels that are full, that claimed to be full, vessels that claimed to be satisfied, people that are okay with where they are. He said: “Don’t get any full vessels, get empty vessels, get hungry vessels, get yearning vessels, get thirsty vessels, get people even though they appear to be doing something in the eyes of the world in their own eyes they have started nothing yet. Get people who have refused to arrive, people who refused to arrive, people who refused to receive the applause, people who refused to receive the handclap of people, get me empty vessels”.
And something strange happened there, he said: ” Begin to pour oil into the empty vessels but you know what is going to happen? Anyone that gets full set it aside” 2 Kings 4:4. There are many people God has set aside, they appear to be in Ministry to people, they appear to be succeeding in the eyes of men but God said I have set this one aside because he is full. He is full of himself, full of his results, he is full of his importance, he is full of his own sense of estimation. First of all get the persons that are empty, next thing push aside anyone that claims he has arrived. What is the secret? No matter how full you appear to get, remain empty – continually remain empty, continually remain desperate, continually remain hungry, continually remain passionate, let your pursuit of God never cease and don’t hang around people who want to make you feel like you have arrived. Is God speaking to someone here? That is the reason why revival is so scarce because empty people are few, full people are plenty. Dissatisfaction with the status quo, desperation for something more.
3. Supplication for the latter rain
That is you step into prayer for revival. Ask for the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain. If the rain must fall, someone must ask, if the rain of Heaven must fall it does not fall by chance it falls by the force of prayer. We saw in 1 Kings Chapter 18, when Elijah told Ahab: “Rise up, prepare yourself, get into the chariot for I can hear the sound of abundance of rain”. He didn’t say that and go to sleep, he went to the mountain. Mountain signifies the place of prayer, he put his face in between his knees and began to generate the cloud for the rain. If the rain must fall somebody must generate the cloud, somebody must pray. If the fire must fall, somebody must pray 1 Kings 18:36-38. If the fire must fall for your life, for your Ministry, for your city, for your nation somebody must be at the place of prayer. Evan Robert prayed for 13 years for revival in Wales that happened in 1904 and the fire fell. William J. Seymour of Azusa Street Revival, he prayed for five and half hours every day for 5 years and increased the prayer for two more years and the fire fell.
-Somebody here today, the Spirit of prayer is coming upon you.
Declarations: You are not wasting your time, you are not praying in vain, the fire must fall, the rain must fall. Over America, the revival must happen in this Endtime. If you believe that, shout the loudest Amen!
4. Consecration for Revival
Consecration, you separate yourself Hosea 10:12. There must be a separation, consecration. Separation from ungodliness, ungodly living, ungodly company and association, ungodly attitude and actions. In Acts of the Apostles, they separated themselves in the Upper Room and the rain fell. You are going to ask the Lord: “Is there something in my life that is preventing the move of God? Is there something in my personal life that is stopping the move of God in the Church?” Consecration! Church Gist. There is something that God cannot do where you are in terms of your lifestyle, in terms of your company and association. “Abraham get out of your father’s house, get from the land of your kindred, get from the company of idol worshipers and step up before I can do something in your life”. And Jacob was left alone and wrestled with the man, he was separated from everything that is a distraction, everyone that is a distraction and he stepped into that phase where God could do something in his life. For somebody it is just the habit God is wanting to deal with. He said: “You have no time to pray but you have too much time for secular movies, you have no time to pray but you are addicted to the internet, you can be online for twelve hours doing different things and you haven’t been able to pray for one and half hours. I need you separated. I need you to get out of that kind of life.
You may say I am not really sining but it is not only sin that can hinder you. He said: “Lay aside every weight”, there are things that are not sin but they are weight. And what is a weight? It’s anything that slows down your speed. God is saying: “I am not saying you are in sin but I am saying, you are carrying some weight. Church Gist. You are carrying certain things that are slowing your life down, you are slowing your destiny down, you are slowing the move of God in your life, you are impeding the kind of acceleration I want to give you and until you drop that weight you can’t gain your speed. Hallelujah! For somebody, it is an ungodly association, an ungodly relationship, you are not necessarily sining but it is a weight, it is a weight on your life. It is a weight on your destiny and He is saying: “Drop that weight so you can move in speed”. Without any doubt there cannot be no divine manifestation until there is human consecration. Consecration on the part of man will provoke manifestation from the side of God.
5. Deep brokenness
Break up your fallow ground! Usefulness in the hands of God is a sign of brokenness. You can’t perceive the fragrance until the Alabaster Box is broken, Intact Alabaster Box can produce no fragrance, the bread could not be multiplied until it was broken. Brokenness is key to usefulness, if you must be useful in the hands of God you must be broken – In His hands! For as long as Jacob had his feet and strength, he remained Jacob but when the angel broke his thigh he became Israel. He lost his strength in order to gain his might. What is to be broken? Every hard-heartedness, unbelief, pride, arrogance. Church Gist. The man was called Lucifer until pride came, he became satan the prince of hell. Brokenness! There are so many people God wants to do so much with but there is so much arrogance, so much pride, people can’t come close to you, you are just too full of yourself. And God said: “I want to empty you of you so I can fill you with Me”. John said: “I must decrease and He must increase, if Jesus must increase in me, I must decrease in myself” John 30:30.
This is why there is not so much revival. God started with them and before you know it they carry the glory of God, they diverted the praise, they began to point people to themselves and not to God and suddenly God said: ‘Ichabod’, the glory has departed. Like Samson who moved like other times, the action was the same but the unction was lacking because you can have the same action without the backing unction. You did what you used to do before that produced results, you are doing it again but there is no results because the glory is departed. That is why Paul the Apostle said: ‘I die daily’, you must bring yourself to the cross daily and ask the Lord to take out of you anything that is competing with His glory in your life.
“Anything that is struggling with God’s glory, I want you to take it off from me, I am not looking for your glory to take, Lord you should take all the glory”.
The man has 80 members in his Church and 12 bodyguards. Out of the 80 people, shoulders raised because he has arrived, commanding everybody like a demigod. “You, come here, you sit there”. And God said what do you have that you have not received and if you received it why do you behave like you didn’t receive it? Who is powerful enough to anoint himself? Who is powerful enough to use himself ? A gun no matter how powerful can’t shoot itself, an aircraft doesn’t fly itself, someone flies it. I believe this is where the missing link is in most cases: 🎶 Lord, prepare me, I need your anointing. And God is saying: ‘I’m seeing your future, you are to very arrogant, you look humble now but you will be very arrogant later on 🎶. Did you understand? Because need impacts humility. When someone is in need, he has humility, false humility until that need is met then you see the real him. Until the anointing arrives, until the power arrives, until the money arrives that is where you will know the real person.
I invited someone to our Church one day. Full of yourself, what are you struggling with? I’m the one who invited you, you didn’t invite yourself. By the way before he came he gave us long conditions, before I will come do this, do this, do this and I said: “Wow”. I said: “Is it possible for someone to Pastor a Church like this? The Glory Dome – 100,000 seater capacity and you can’t trust him to take care of you on his own without telling him do this, do this, do this”. The roof of that building is in millions of dollars, just the roof. Ministration was down, nosedived, nothing. So I vowed: “This is your first time here, this is your last”. What do we have that it is not God? What will you become that it is not God who will make you? He told Peter and said: “Come and I will make you, nobody can make himself”. That was why when Moses was trying to go and lead Israel before he encountered God, one of the people said: “Who made you Ruler and Judge over us?” That is, why are you trying to lead without being made? Go and be made first so he went into the wilderness for 40 years to be made.
-Somebody say a loud Amen.
This is that angle especially in America here, I am sorry to say it there is a pride spirit in this country. “We are America, bigger than every country in the world, I am American”. One day a lady came to our Church, she came from America to Abuja Nigeria. We were in Area One then, the first building and she met me and said: “I am from America”. Church Gist. I said: “You are welcome”. She said: “I want to find out what needs you people have so I will be able to meet the needs”. I looked at her with all the anger I possess and I said: “Who told you we have needs? If you have needs, let me know. Do I look like someone in need? Does this Church look like a place in need? If you have need, let me know, we will meet your needs. That pride broke and then she just went off”. Not everybody in Africa is in lack, am I communicating? So, I want you to be aware of the climate you are in.
There is a natural climate of pride because of the abundance, you know what God said about the problem of Sodom? Fullness of bread, abundance of idleness, pride. Fullness of food!! There are many places where you don’t buy Coke in bottles, you just fetch it as much as you want, so everything is abundant. Fullness of bread, abundance of idleness in some cases and then pride. So we need to fight it specially so that God can use us. Church Gist. Am I communicating at all? We need to say: “Yes, I am in this kind of big and great country but You (God) are the reason for the greatness and I submit myself to You in humility” Because God resists the proud. The God who assists everybody is resisting somebody, the person is called the proud. Because if the devil resists you, God will assist you but if God is resisting you, who assists you? Halleluyah! I see something happening here today! Just prostrate yourself on a continuous basis: “Here am I Lord, is there any trace of arrogance, pride, haughtiness in me that is stopping You from doing what You want to do? Do I look it, do I act it? Deal with it. I can be nothing without You, I can do nothing without You, I can become nothing without You”.
-I see something new happening to somebody now.
6. Sensitivity to divine timing
If we are going to see revival, we must be sensitive to the timing of God because the Bible says: “God makes all things beautiful in His time”. Divine purposes are time-sensitive Ecclesiastes 3:11. So there is a time for divine action in the earth. That was how I’m sure, He said: “Ask the Lord rain in the time of rain Zechariah 20:1. So there is a time allocated for the rain, there is a season where God wants the rain to fall. And so if you want the rain to fall you must be sensitive to that season so that you can step into praying at that season for the rain to fall. Church Gist. No wonder Genesis 18:14, so there is always an appointed time for divine visitation. What we trust the Lord for is to be sensitive to that time.
What happened at the day of Pentecost? The Bible said, ‘When the people gathered the fire fell, no! When the day of Pentecost was fully come, there was a fullness even to the time. What God wanted to do was to happen in the day of Pentecost and it couldn’t happen until the day fully came. You know the worst thing that can happen to anybody is to be ignorant of divine timing for visitation. Church Gist. Many people miss divine visitation because they are ignorant of their season. In Luke 19:43-44, adversity continues when visitation is missed. Many times people don’t know the time of their visitation and when you understand your timing, you step into command. For the children of Issachar were men that had understanding of the time and their brethren were at their commandment. You take command of seasons when you understand the timing and seasons of God.
-I prophesy upon someone here, a new level of sensitivity.
How do you know when time is up for visitation?
A. When people begin to sigh, yearn and cry for the move of God
When there is epidemic of yearning, epidemic of crying, epidemic of sighing Exodus 2:23-24.
B. When the enemy seems to be doing his worst
When it looks like satan is doing overtime. Because God always will do His best when the devil thinks he has done his worst. God didn’t do anything when they were crucifying Jesus, He didn’t move when they were burying him. Church Gist. When they finished everything and the devil has finalized his action and has done his worst, The God says: “Give me space right now, are you done? I will show you what I can do”. When they were tying up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, God said nothing. When they were flinging them into the fire, God did nothing but the moment they landed in the fire and the devil had done his worst. Then God said: “Give me space, I will step into this fire right now and show you what I can do”.
-I don’t know who God sent me to here this morning, but maybe the devil seems to have done his worst in your life, family, Ministry. Church Gist. I am here to announce to you today, the stage is set for God to do His best. And God is about to do His best in your life, family right now!
-And I can tell you, in America, the stage is set for God to do His best. Nothing can be worse than what the devil is doing to this country.
I was reading something this morning, you sent to me where the young lady said a man said he felt like a young woman inside. I’m sure you are familiar with that. And she took himself to do certain destructive surgeries and he removed every masculinity from her and began to construct femininity in her and then put on hormones. Long story made short he became messed up, mind became messed up, he became disfigured and literally ran crazy, completely dehumanized and then he realized, ‘I’m not meant to be this, I want to return back to who I was. Church Gist. The female reproductive system they created for her didn’t work, it became stenosed. It was so terrible. And now she is saying everybody shouldn’t do anything like that on anybody under 18 years, people should get counsel. And all these things are trying to get legislation, trying to get backings of every sort and even get financing. I mean the devil is doing his worst in this country but I’m assuring you, the stage is set for God to do His best in the land. I can assure you under God, before Jesus comes, this nation will witness again the greatest move of God they have ever experienced.
-God is about to do His best in your life, in this nation, in your family. If you believe that shout the loudest Amen.
C. When the Word of God is getting voided by the world of men
When the Word of God is being messed up, is being treated as nothing, is being challenged and confronted Psalms 119:126
It is time for You to work in America, in Nigeria, in the midst of the earth why? For they have made void Your Law, they are trampling in Your Word. Church Gist. They say, children can be killed at any age in the womb when the Word clearly states, ‘Thou shall not kill’. They have made void Thy Law, they say the Word of God does not matter anymore, it doesn’t matter what the world says it matters what the person wants. It is time for you to work, Lord, for they have made void Thy Law.
You know the common law is based on the Bible, whether it is the Commonwealth Law and of course from where that law came. All of them based on the Laws of Moses, that was why it was a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye. That was why there was capital punishment but now everything is being adjusted and being distorted. Children obey your father and mother, so that your day may be long and it will be well with you on the earth. But the law says: ‘No! You can call Police for your mother if possible’. No, the child can’t be corrected. All those are laws being made void. The Law of God is the basis of civilization, that is the basis of sense, that is the basis of rightness and correctness that Law is being made void. And so the Bible said, when the Law of God is being made void then it is time for God to act. So is it time for God to work? It’s overtime! Is it time for God to work here? To work in Nigeria, to work in Britain, to work everywhere in the world? There are many people in Europe in Britain here that are trying to do homeschooling for their children because of what their children are going to be taught in the school. And they are saying: “No!!! He must be taught this and taught that”. Somebody from one of the countries here in this Conference just now told me yesterday that in the country where his wife was, there is no male or female toilet, anybody can enter anyone. It’s time for God to work.
-It is time for you to work in Nigeria, in America, in Canada, in Britain, in China, in Mexico, in Venezuela everywhere on the World. It is time for you to work, Oh! Lord! In the name of Jesus.
D. When God begins to multiple His vision and revelation about His imminent move
When children begin to see visions, old men begin to dream dreams concerning the mighty move of God Hosea 12:10. One thing we must know is that God says things before He does them, He doesn’t just do things He says them. He speaks before He acts and God said: “Let there be light and then the light came”. He will always say something so if He wants to move, He says something. He speaks it ahead, He declares it. The prophecies come before it can be realized, most times it is prophesied.
-And I can assure you, something is about to happen to this country – Positive.
E. Finally, when the Spirit of prayer falls upon people
The Spirit of intercession. In Acts of the Apostles, they were in the Upper Room praying and something inside them wanted to pray and then they began to pray and pray and pray and as they prayed, the fire fell. John Wesley said,” When God wants to move, he sets His people praying”. Whenever you see prayer and people began to become restless, prayer groups, prayer team and prayers then you know something is about to happen.
F. Fire impartation
That is when God sets a man on fire then He sends him to set his generation on fire. He sets the man on fire first then He releases him on his generation to set the generation on fire.
