– Pastor Isaac Oyedepo on “THE COVENANT OF REVIVAL” || Recharge Conference, Day 6 – Morning Session || Global Impact Church
I will be teaching for the minutes allocated to us this morning on the Word that the Lord gave to us when I found that I had this high honour to speak to us at Global Impact Church. Church Gist. I have seen how many went close to it but never really touched it.
The subject we are looking at this morning is “THE COVENANT OF REVIVAL”. It was Corey Russel and Billy Humphrey that said, “when we mark everything as a revival, then nothing is a revival”. Church Gist. The word, “Revival” has become so common and many claim to even be in revival. But if we call everything that sounds or looks like or it’s called a revival, a revival, we will never touch one. But, I know that God is set to do something at Global Impact that will not end here but will spread. A true revival that would begin with individuals. Church Gist. My prayer here today is that you will be so revived before the Recharge Conference is over that when you step out of here, the fire would go with you everywhere you go.
What is a Revival?
1. A Revival is a move of the Spirit of God among all age groups. If it doesn’t touch all age groups, it is not a Revival. Church Gist. The move of the Spirit of God leading to the release of His sound, wind and fire. Joel 2:28-30. Acts 2:1-4. Can you imagine, if everyone that is at Recharge this morning catches the fire, this Nation will not contain us. All age groups. Revival doesn’t end with the old generation. The touch must be passed from the ‘now’ generation and from the ‘now’ generation to the next generation. Church Gist. All age groups manifesting dimensions of the sound, wind and the fire. You can tell now that we’re hearing sounds from Heaven. We see how minstrels of God are simply downloading Heavenly sounds. We’ve had a number of them at Recharge, I’ve watched it, I’ve been a part of it. Church Gist. People like Dunsin Oyekan that would be coming, they have caught the sound, they simply have their ears in the Heavens and just download. We have left the realms of writing songs to receiving sounds. It is a new dimension. We have left the realm of singing verses and choruses to downloading sounds. Church Gist. There are things that cannot be communicated in English anymore. It is not a Revival if it lacks the sound. If the new and the now generation lacks the sound, it is not a Revival.
We have stepped into the days of what we call stadium Christianity, no matter the capacity built, it will not handle the coming revival. Church Gist. Project and plan all you can, when the wind blows. Numbers 11:31. Then, what of the fire? Fire brandmen will rise. Men that when they speak, they will spit fire. It is like fire shut up in their bones. Jeremiah 20:9. The fire that came upon them in the upper room was already burning within them. Church Gist. They tarried and waited in the place of prayer and in the place of sharing the Word and the fire that was seen upon them actually began within them. Church Gist. So, Revival is a move of the Spirit of God among all age groups.
– can I prophesy to somebody here? No matter what God has done with you, your children will beat it!
Branded men and women, I call this, ancient mantles for current vessels. People who are young will carry mantles that they didn’t really work for. Church Gist. The Lord show me this. How come a man called John came in the power and in the spirit of Elijah? Ancient mantles for current vessels. That’s a Revival. How come the mantle of Elijah came upon a now generation young lad called Elisha? How come the mantle of a giant, Moses came upon a young lad called Joshua? Church Gist m Ancient mantles for current vessels. Look at what Jesus said, “greater works than this shall you do. I am before you but you will beat it because I go to the Father”. That is Revival. That’s why we need a generation fired up. A generation set on fire. I like how the minstrel put it:

Every Revival has the sound, the wind and the fire. Whether the devil likes it or not, we will see a Revival in our generation.
2. A Revival, according to Martyn Lloyd-Jones, I love his definition, I’ve never heard it anywhere. Church Gist. But the Lord led me to these ancient mantles material and look at his definition of a Revival. He calls a Revival the mass glorification of Jesus Christ that projects him as King leading to the colossal spread of the Gospel. We have left the days of flier, we have stepped into the days of fire. Something would happen from a point, fire doesn’t need advertisement, it would happen from a point and it will attract everyone. Church Gist. Not the mass glorification of a man, Church or a people but the mass glorification of Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ is not at the centre of it all, men and brethren, it is not a Revival. Acts 19:8-20. In two years, all of Asia heard the Word, Acts 19:10. Colossal spread of the Gospel.
The day is coming where before a man stands to preach, people in the congregation already have some depth of the Word. Church Gist. Mass glorification of Jesus Christ, that is a Revival. That is, the Gospel of the Kingdom becomes the talk of the town. People would sit down in companies, discussing the Word. Church Gist. Jesus Christ will become more popular than any government or President.
3. A Revival is the restoration of the fear of the Lord among His people. Hear me, Revival is not for the world, it is for the Church. The world needs salvation, the Church needs Revival. Church Gist. They will not come in until we are changed. 2 Corinthians 3:18. The people on the inside must be changed for the world to flow. We look at Revival saying the world would come to the Church, no. Church Gist. The King coming to the Church is Revival, the King of Kings sitting as Lord, as ruler, that’s Revival. Hear this, the Lord said to me, “it’s not just the restoration of the fear of the Lord among my people but the fear of my people among the heathen”. God is my witness, I never read this anywhere, He told me. Church Gist. “The fear of the Lord will be restored but the fear of my people in the world will also be restored”. The world doesn’t fear us anymore, talk to us anyhow, treat us anyhow, kick us anyhow, not when Revival comes. For when Revival comes, ask what happened to the first Church when Ananias and Saphira died for lying, the Bible said, “fear entered”. It was all over the town. They said, “you cannot lie to these people anymore”. What will happen when the world becomes afraid of what they say to us? That’s Revival. Church Gist. There’s no new generation that will see Revival without the fear or the Lord being restored.
We have called Sin – witness and habit. Hear me, if you will be an instrument of Revival, you must be weird. Church Gist. There are things that the world would think you are mad to still be thinking like that in a generation like this. Those are the people qualified to carry the fire. The fear of the Lord restored in His Church and the fear of His people restored in the world. When the first Church saw revival, Acts 2:19:37, they began with all fear. Church Gist The fear of the Lord entered religious settings and broke cultural barriers. These people were already going to the Synagogue, yet, the fear of the Lord entered. But not only like that, by Acts chapter 5, the fear of His people also entered the world. It is an exchange. Church Gist. The fear of the Lord entering the Church and the fear of the Church entering the World. That is a Revival.
God will only manifest His presence in the atmosphere where He’s held with utmost respect, that’s the fear of the Lord. Church Gist. The mantle cannot drop on a vessel that is not pure. 2 Timothy 2:19-21. I don’t know who I’m speaking to here, but there are mantles still hovering in the atmosphere. Mantles don’t go to Heaven. The mantle of Evan Roberts is still hovering, waiting for who is collecting. Church Gist. The mantle of Benson Idahosa is still hovering waiting for a generation that would dare stand in the place he stood with God. The mantle of William Seymour is still here where creative miracles would be taking place like water. The mantles are still here, they don’t need it in Heaven. Church Gist. The mantle of Kathryn Kuhlman is still hovering, so, women are not left out.
– I don’t know who I’m speaking to but right now, in the atmosphere of His spirit and presence, any ancient mantle you so desire, may that mantle locate you where you are!
Let’s not say it is now normal not to see miracles, no! I told them, I refuse to be a Pastor that will call a Miracle Service and miracles are not taking place. Church Gist. How can you come in with a wheelchair and they drag you out again with the wheelchair, where’s the power? But those days are back again! I strongly believe that at least 120 people that are connected right now, at least one ancient mantle will locate you where you are in the name of Jesus! Don’t hide under the covering of a Church and say, “I am an assistant Pastor”, that doesn’t exclude you from a mantle. Church Gist. There’s something your generation needs, there’s something your generation is crying and longing for. Romans 8:19.
Listen, the Lord told me about 2-3 years ago, He said, “Isaac, you’re my promise to your generation. Your generation has prayed and cried and I knew they will pray and cry, so, I packaged and engineered you for what your generation would need”. Church Gist. There’s something your generation, family and neighborhood needs that you carry.
– in the name of Jesus, may this Recharge Conference put you and I 100 percent battery charged at all times!
4. A Revival is the work of the Spirit in the midst of His people. Habakkuk 1:5. The days are coming again where medical researchers would be sent to our programs. “How can they say cancer disappeared? Verify”. Church Gist. They did that in the days of Kathryn Kuhlman. The miracles were so rugged that Medical professionals were sent to verify. So, don’t be shocked when they start coming to Global Impact. “How do you say Stage 4 cancer disappeared with no trace? How do you say the blind received their sight?” In the days of William Seymour, you have a man with no eye socket and seeing without eyes. Church Gist. The days are here. (A Revival is) a work of the Spirit of God in the midst of His people leading to the outbreak of healings, creative miracles, signs and wonders. Habakkuk 1:5. Isaiah 8:18. The world is tired of our explanations, they are waiting for our manifestations.
After Revival broke loose, to verify, certify and authenticate that it was a revival, Acts 2, the revival happened, Acts 3, they were going on their way to the temple and at the beautiful gate, they met a man. Church Gist. You know you’re in a revival when you can’t see the sick and pass and pretend like you didn’t see them. You’re entering the Church and somebody is on the wheelchair and your turn your ways the other way or you’re stretching your hands to shake someone on the wheelchair and say, “God bless you, welcome to Church”, what of, “rise up and walk”. That’s a Revival.
In the days of the Azusa Street Revival, 8, 10 year olds were praying for the sick and the sick were receiving healings. Church Gist. We will mess up what the world calls incurable. If He said it, it’s because He has done, He’s doing it and will yet do it. That’s a Revival. So, we can conclude that there’s an urgent need and the urgent need of the Church today is a Revival, globally. Church Gist. The urgent need of the saints today is Revival and the urgent need of the now and the next generation is Revival. There are some of us who have never seen anything close to a Revival, so we don’t even know what it looks like. We know Church, service, jumping, smiling and screaming but we have not yet seen the raw power of God, we haven’t witnessed the Shekinah Glory. Church Gist. There are things we are yet to witness. So, there’s an urgent need for the Church, universal. Revival 3:14-19. Psalm 85:6. Habakkuk 1:5. Joel 2:28-30. The Lord doesn’t downgrade the old or elevate the young but there are things that the old can see but their feet can’t pursue. Church Gist. So, we need the old to dream and then from their dream, the young can catch vision because they have the strength to pursue. 1 Samuel 30:8. So, Revival is a matter of urgency. The Word of God gives us the promise of Revival. Isaiah 44:3-5, the history of the Church gives us a pathway to that revival, Jeremiah 6:16, but the prophecy of the last day Church gives us the picture. Church Gist. We will see what will be happening in the last days Church, 10 men will hold on to the skirt of one, they are not going to listen to a fine Preacher. Zechariah 2:4. The church should get ready to bring down the walls because there’s going to be an invasion – an invasion that cannot be explained or denied. Church Gist. There’s a pathway and prophecy that gives us that picture.
Now, if you look at all we have said, we can already see that Revival is conditional and that’s what makes it a covenant. We can’t fold our hands and dance at the promise of Revival. Church Gist. We can’t fold our hands and celebrate the pathway to Revival. We can’t sing a few songs and claim to have seen the reality of the picture of Revival. It will require that we step into a covenant, “Lord, this is your part and Lord, this is my part”.
2 Chronicles 7:14. The Lord opened my eyes to see 5 covenant requirements for every Revival among others. Now, we find that Revival is for God’s people. We need a change of mindset thinking it’s the world that needs Jesus, we need Him. Church Gist. We have become so familiar with Him. In one of those revivals, he said maybe about 50-60 years ago, “in our generation today, if the Holy Spirit was removed from the Church today, half of the Church would not know”. Church Gist. I sat down and said, “what is happening to my generation?” We have a schedule, we have a program, we have boxed Him. We tell Him when to move and when not to move. There are revivalists of old who would come into a meeting like this and they step on the stage and say, “I’m sorry, I refuse to preach because God didn’t tell me exactly what to say. Bye everybody” and the service is gone. Church Gist. But in our generation, “oh. The people came, they drove in the rain”. Rain is normal when there’s a Revival. If fire is burning in any house, will you stay inside the house or run out of the house even when it is raining? The days are back.
Now, look at the requirements. 2 Chronicles 7:14. “The world thinks they know me but they have not touched me. I am yet to touch them. They have a theological experience, not a practical one”.
1. Humility. No generation sees Revival in pride. You and I will agree, my own generation, very proud. God has not even started with you yet, yet you think you have arrived. Church Gist. When men celebrate you, quickly point them to God. We are in a generation now if you don’t address a man by his title, he gets angry. “Don’t you know I’m a Bishop? Don’t you know I’m a Pastor? Didn’t you see when the mantle came?” That the cloth came on you doesn’t mean the mantle dropped. That you carry a white handkerchief doesn’t mean a mantle dropped. Church Gist m Let me shock you, refusal to pray is pride. Somebody would say, “why is prayer not number one?” Humility is one because it’s the foundation for prayer. Prayer and consistency in prayer is you regarding yourself as incapable. Humility. Can God alter your planned program? Only a few think they need Revival, so many are not candidates of it. Someone said, “I set myself on fire and people come to watch me burn”. Church Gist. Fire doesn’t need advertisement. Everybody naturally stops to see what is burning and see who is burning and where it is burning and how long the burning would remain. Humility.
Gwen Shaw said, “we need true humility that comes from seeing ourselves as God sees us. The problem with the Laodicean Church was that they were wretched and miserable, poor, blind, naked and they didn’t realize it”. Church Gist. That seems to be the condition of the Church universal, the condition of our generation. “We don’t need revival, they need it. What are these small boys talking about?” You will soon know. Isaiah 40:31. Do you know that many people think our generation is lost? But God will shock them. 1 Peter 5:6.
2. Prayer. I love so much what happens at the Recharge Conference. Believe it or not, I’ve also been a part of the afternoon prayers. Church Gist. People think it’s not important, “let’s just come for morning and evening sessions”. Where it’s been cooked is in the afternoon. 2 Chronicles 7:14. 3rd of August, 2022, waiting upon the Lord, He said to me, if prayer is sustained, prayer would eventually prevail”. That prayer that prevails and brings Revival is not the prayer of 5 minutes. No. Evan Roberts prayed for Revival for 13 years before it broke loose at the age of 26.
Let me say this, no matter how long the prayer of the Church is, it doesn’t equal your own prayer program. Church Gist. We are now in a generation where you can hook up and be everywhere to pray. That doesn’t equal you alone with God, it will never match. Many are watching the fire of others, when will you generate your own? I told our Pastors, some of us sleep early now so we can wake up early, the activity of the enemy is in the night, the activity of Jehovah God is also in the night. Church Gist. So, while you’re stretching to stay awake, we have slept, gathered momentum, gotten energy, when you’re about to go to bed, we are taking over. Yes, there’s a prayer moment everywhere including in the Winners’ family, it doesn’t equal personal prayer. Jacob was left alone, no Pastor was there and they wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. That’s where people get names, that’s where mantles drop, in the absence of everyone else. You will be mistaken to think whsy is being shared to you here is because I came in here and I had a few moments of prayer, it’s been cooked for a long time. Church Gist. If you need time to prepare, it means you’re not preparing all the time.
George Herbert said, “Prayer is the soul’s blood”. Your soul is getting dry of blood because you lack prayer. When last did you call your own personal prayer all night? Nobody was there, not with a program. Church Gist. Then we all wake up in the morning, or at least, some of us pretend to just be waking up and you discover that you’re spitting another dimension. Why? Prayer! There are even things you will not see in the Word without prayer and there are things you have seen in the Word that your world is yet to see in you because of the lack of prayer. Church Gist. There’s revelation, but there’s also illumination. You can read, listen to messages to get revelation. 2 Corinthians 3:18.
William Booth, the Founder of Salvation Army sent missionaries many years ago, “go to that land, make sure fire burns in that land before you come back. The fire either burns or you stay there”. Church Gist. These two missionaries got there, they tried everything they had learnt in the Bible School program, Revival didn’t break loose. So, they sent a telegram to William Booth and said, “William, we have tried everything you have taught us and no revival is breaking loose”. Look at the response of William Booth, two words, “try tears”. Church Gist. They tried tears, revival, boom! The kind of prayer I’m talking about is not the kind you’re praying and you’re checking your messages. The kind of prayer I’m talking about comes with sweat, blood and tears. Jesus taught us that. If Jesus prayed in that dimension, who are you to think that there’s no labour and there would be profit? Revival is the product of a process. Church Gist. Revival never happens without the process and no matter how hard a generation tries to wipe away the process, we can’t see the Revival. Even crowd doesn’t equal Revival. When last were people cringing on their feet in Holy fear? When last did people come crying at the altar in Holy fear? When last did the glory of God appear in our tabernacles? Church Gist. The smoke of light doesn’t equal the smoke of His presence. You can’t even pretend to have power but that doesn’t equal presence. If you’re like me, I am tired of merry-go-rounding. When last did we have to tarry in His presence for hours and nobody knows time is going. We check our watches because He’s not there. If He’s there, we are lost in His presence.
Prayer. So many examples, I love the example of Evan Roberts because that signifies the example of a young man who paid the price and gripped an entire Nation with the fire of Revival. Church Gist. Look at few things he said among others. Evan Roberts said, “Prayer is the secret of power”. Leonard Ravenhill said, “no man is greater than his prayer life”. George Herbert said, “prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night”.
3. Hunger. 2 Chronicles 7:14. You only seek the things that you’re hungry for. Proverbs 8:17. Jeremiah 29:13. Church Gist. These are things that should become our nature, “Lord, I’m not hungry for a Pastor anymore, I’ve heard too many, it’s you I want”. We’ve written so many notes, how many encounters have we caught? We belong to all kinds of associations and Churches, when last did you meet Him? Church Gist. If they clap for you as a servant of God and your head begins to swell, you have missed it. There should be a hunger. You know, hunger is contagious, if you meet a man hungry and you stay around him, the hunger will enter you. I have seen too much, read too much, heard so much from God that I am not satisfied with anything I’ve seen around yet.
You get to a level where worship becomes your lifestyle. You can hang around Him long enough, Pastor Poju talked about that. This thing flows. Church Gist. I never went to school to learn how to sing, I never thought I could sing but in 2021, I began to hear sounds from Heaven. When God looks at Isaac, what does God say? Church Gist. God loves all of us, true and that’s where we are missing it a lot now, but he’s not pleased with all of us.

I have never sang this song, not even in Faith Tabernacle, where’s the time to sing it? Things are happening and men are watching and sitting and waiting. One Revivalist said, “all we need to do is set our sails so that when the wind comes we can soar”. Church Gist. Isn’t the theme of this year “Soar”? Are uour wings set? If not, when the wind blows. Evan Roberts said, “I have prepared the wood, I’m simply waiting for the fire”.
I have come to tell you that you cannot hide under the umbrella of any man for your own fire. Church Gist. It doesn’t matter if your Father is an Apostle or a Prophet or a Pastor, you’re responsible for your own fire. God called Abraham but also called Isaac. At a point, God said to Isaac, “there’s a shift in dimension, don’t go in that route”. Church Gist. What many of us call humility is false responsibility, we refused to take charge. Your generation needs you. After David served his own generation, who are you serving? Hunger.

John G. Lake said, “the greatest gift I can give anyone is hunger”. If you can leave hunger for God with your children, they will be fine. Church Gist. Not hunger for you but hunger for God. Thank God for your ways but do they know His ways? Solomon said, “that I may know the God of my Father”. “Thank you Daddy but I want to know Him myself”. Hunger. Hunger moves a man. Hunger drives a man makes a man look crazy. Church Gist. Except hunger hasn’t wired you before, when hunger wires you, you will do things that are abnormal. If you’re too normal, you’re not hungry.
4. Repentance. Every Revival comes with massive waves of repentance. Church Gist. I don’t think I’ve seen a Revival yet, at least, in anywhere I have pastored, I’m that honest. What is the best I’ve seen? I have seen sparks. What many of us call fire is sparks. So, for a period of 2-3 months, the church is “on fire”. Don’t confuse the spark with the fire but the spark is an indication that the fire is on the way. Church Gist. The most beautiful part is the part of repentance. We had services where Pastors came and knelt on the altar, crying for repentance, known Pastors. Sparks. We never told anybody, “when you come to the altar, kneel down”. Suddenly, we discovered that people would just come and because of the fear of God, with tears in their eyes, they are kneeling down without anybody telling them. I found myself repenting before the people. Sparks. When Revival begins to make an entrance, there are things that are termed abnormal that become normal. Church Gist. If you’re a Pastor and you lied, what do you need? Repentance. If you’re the son of the General Overseer and you lied, what do you need? Repentance. Nobody left out.
Remember Revival is for the Church, not for the world. 2 Chronicles 7:14. Church Gist. Go read the Scriptures very closely and you will see all kinds of things that were happening in the temple and they’re still happening here today in our world. Including Churches that I have pastored, all kinds of things we were told you couldn’t hear in previous generations are now normal. Church Gist. Every Revival begins with repentance, we cannot host Revival without holiness. Holiness is not an old school curriculum, it is a Revival curriculum.
John Bevere, he said, “there are 3 images everybody has:
1. Your perceived image – the way others see you.
2. Your projected image – the way you want others to see you
3. Actual Image – the way we really are.
On the last day, it is our actual image that would be judged, not perceived, not projected.
5. Expectation. It’s not enough to follow the first four, do we expect it? When we had those sparks of Revival, I found myself praying before the people and I will be weeping. Church Gist. It’s later on that I understood what was happening, “Lord, could this be the day? Is this the day you will send your fire, wind and sound?” and suddenly, sparks of His glory will fill the place. Church Gist m We expected it and we began to see the sparks. If we keep at the sparks long enough, the fire will eventually fall.
Our generation will not see a revival if we do not expect one. Our generation will not see a revival if we do not come to the place of revival. Church Gist. Our generation will not see a revival if we do not express our hunger for one. Our generation will not see a revival if we do not pray the prayers that bring one. Our generation will not see a revival if we do not maintain a posture for one. The ball is in our court. Would we have this generation pass us that we are members of and never experience the fire, the wind and the sound? Church Gist. The sound is already coming, that is proof that the fire and wind are on the way. But, Revival begins with you, it’s only a man on fire that can show others how to burn.
