Isaiah 40:28-31.
- Whether the devil likes it or not, it’s going to be well with you!
This morning we want to talk very briefly on, “RENEWED LIKE THE EAGLE.” The Eagle is a very special bird; according to scientists, when the Eagle feels old, he will loo for a very high mountain and find a corner there and one by one, on its own, he will pluck out the feathers and become naked. He will strike his beak upon a rock there until the old beak drops off, waiting for a new one to take its position. He will stay there till the feathers grow again and during this period, it won’t eat. Church Gist. But when the new feathers and the new beak comes on, he will become like a new bird – strong, healthy, looking young. You know, scientists have discovered that you can renew your age by fasting. That fasting has a very great advantage – it makes you younger, you look younger after a fast. In fact they conducted an experiment some years ago, got 2 sets of mice – kept one in one compartment and the other group in another compartment. Those in one compartment they were feeding them only once in 2 days – they feed them today, tomorrow they starve – they won’t give them food, third day they will feed them. They continued like that for a while. The other one, they fed them fat. Everyday they ate as much as they could. I can’t remember for how many months they did that then they injected rat poison into both set of rats. Before the evening, all the rats that were feeding fat had died without exception. 7 days later, the only sign they saw in the rats that had been fasting was that there was yellow colour in their tails. Everyone of them survived – they didn’t even fall sick. It was the yellow colour in their tails that showed that, rat poison was also applied. So when you hear people protesting that I ask you to fast regularly, just smile. Church Gist. It looks as if this old man knows what he is doing.
- In the name that is above every other name, your life will be renewed like the eagle!
Now the word, “renew” is a compound word – re and new. I think I’ve spoken to you about these kind of words before. When we say, reload, it means load again. You know, you fire a gun, you reload it. When we say, “repack” it means you packed it before, you’ve unpacked, now you’re to pack again. When we talk about “revisit” it means your situation has been visited before, they took a decision and when they now say they are revisiting, it means they are visiting it again. Church Gist. So renew means make new again. It means this thing was new before, it has become not so new or old and you want to make it new again.
- In the name that is above every other name, your health will be renewed! Your joy will be renewed! Your hope will be renewed! Your anointing will be renewed!
Now, what is the process of renewing? You can renew by repairing. If you have an engine, the engine of a car that was working very fine before and now it is giving trouble, you can repair it so that it will be running as if it is new. Mark 8:22-25 – The eyes used to see before, he had seen men before, he had seen trees before, before he became blind. Church Gist. So God repaired his eyes and when you’re repairing you check: is the engine running smoothly now? When they asked him, what do you see now? He said, I see men as trees. So he gave him a second touch and now he said, I can see clearly.
- Everything that needs repairing in your life whether physical, marital, mental or spiritual, will be repaired today!
Another way of making something new again is by replacing. If there is a part of your engine for example that is causing trouble, you buy spare parts and put it there. Regularly we change the plug of the engine so that it can now begin to work as before. Church Gist. For example in Genesis 18:9-14; Romans 4:19-21. God told Sarah, I can replace the womb.
- Every part of your body that needs replacement, in the name that is above every other name, receive it today!
You know occasionally, you go to the doctor and the doctor says, “no it’s not your fault, the problem is old age. Church Gist. These are the problems old people do have.”
- I decree to all our old people, in the name that is above every other name, every sickness connected with old age won’t come near you anymore!
Then of course, another way you can renew is to remake. You will hear that an engine of a car knocked – that means everything just went wrong. Then they have a way of working on it, I think they call it reboring the engine – they do something that will make the engine as new again. Church Gist. 2 Kings 5:1-14. When God was going to heal Naaman, he didn’t just heal him, he remade him. The Bible says his skin came back to him like that of a brand new baby.
Join your faith with mine when I say that, today in the name that is above every other name, everything that has gone bad in your body will be made brand new!
- That applies to your strength – your strength will be made brand new!
- Your eyes will be made brand new!
- your memory will be made brand new!
- in your marriage, there will be a new honey moon!
Now, the question is: How can newness be lost? There are various ways where new can become not so new. One could be as a result of usage. When you are using something again and again, it can then become old. That’s why we talk about used cars and used this, used that. For example: 2 Samuel 21:15-17. Church Gist. The man who killed Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 now went to war again and now he waxed faint. He had been using his strength year after year and so, he waxed faint. But the Almighty God says in Jeremiah 32:27 and so I decree today that every part of your body that has grown old because of usage, it shall be renewed!
But then, new can also become “not so new” for lack of use. You can sharpen a knife very very well and then keep it unused for a long time. It will become rusty. When you do not use certain things you may discover that when you try to use them again, they’re not as new as you thought they were. Matthew 25:14-30. I was talking with a friend of mine who used to be a practicing Medical Doctor. Then for one reason or the other, he moved on to something else. We were discussing about medicine and he said, “ah, I don’t even know medicine anymore because things have changed.” Church Gist. He gave me an example and said, “in those days when he was a practicing doctor, if they perform an operation on you and they need to sew you up, they use some piece of wire to do the sewing and when the wound has healed to a certain level, you go back to the hospital and they remove the wire. But now they use something to sew you that as you are getting healed, that thing will be melting with the body. So when they perform an operation on you, you don’t have to go back for removing the wire because science had moved on. In those days when they want to perform some very special operation, they use very sharp light. Nowadays they can even use ordinary light. They will finish the operation and there will be hardly any blood dropping. Science had moved to such an extent that operation now is just like the one that God performed on Adam when he put him to sleep, took a rib out of his body and turned that to a woman. You know that, there is no record that a drop of blood fell to the ground. Church Gist. So if you have been a doctor for a long time but then you have ceased to be a doctor for a while, you can’t even practice anymore.
So many of us have talents that we have ceased using. I pray today, that we will wake up! That those talents will be renewed.
But then, once in a while, we find something that becomes old and cannot even be renewed. This happens when there is complete dissociation between you and God. For example: Judges 16:18-end. It’s the story of Samson. You know that fellow very well. This was a one man army: on one occasion singlehandedly with the jaw bone of an ass, he killed a thousand people – 1,000 people. But the moment his contact with God was cut off, he became like an ordinary man. Church Gist. So these people who captured him, they’ve realized that his God can do anything. This fellow is weak now but God can renew his strength. They said, let us do something very quickly before his strength will come back – they plucked out his eyes. You know what happened? His hair began to grow again. Renewal of his strength was on the way but his eyes were gone.
- I pray for you today, that thing that can happen that will cause God to say, I’m no longer interested in you will never happen in you!
That’s why God says in Jeremiah 3:22. You know the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-24. Church Gist. The boy came to his senses, he ran back to the Father and the Father received him.
- I pray for everyone of you who had backslidden, in the name that is above every other name, return to God today!
Finally, how can I remain forever new? That’s the text I read to you in Isaiah 40:31. You know what? When you plug a water heater to the socket and it becomes red hot, when you drop it in a bucket of water, as long as it remains connected to the source, it is the water that will boil, it is the water that will dry up – that iron will remain hot. Church Gist. But if you get that same boiler, you plug it to the socket, it becomes hot, you unplug it and drop it in water, the water will boil and bubble. Now very soon, the hot water will begin to cool down and as the water is cooling, the boiler will also be cooling. At the end of the day, the boiler that cannot be touched with ordinary hand, a child can play with it because it has been disconnected.
As long as you’re connected to the socket of the Most High, the enemy can’t touch you. Everyday you’ll be looking younger, everyday you’ll be feeling stronger. A friend of mine – we are about the same age – called me at the beginning of this year: “My friend” I said, Sir! “How are you doing it?” I said, doing what? “I hear you are at 80 you’re running up and down as a small boy.” Church Gist. I said, if I tell you the secret will you believe me? Remain connected; stay connected to the one who according to the first verse, the one who is never tired, the one who never grows old, who is always there, the one who does not sleep nor slumber. Remain connected to him and his power will be flowing through you, renewing you from day to day.
Not too long ago I went to one nation and I decided as it’s my custom to go for a walk in the morning. Two of my sons decided to walk with me, I said, you’re welcome. After some time I looked back: where are these boys? Church Gist. I’ve left them far behind. When I was returning I met them on the way – “what happened?” “We didn’t know you’re going to go that far.” They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
- I decree to everyone of you here today particularly those of you who are younger than I – even when you are over 80, you will still be strong!
But we are not just talking about being strong physically. We are talking about being strong mentally, spiritually, emotionally. I was telling somebody about something that happened to me in 1951, he said, how can you be remembering all these details? They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Church Gist. So if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, you’re not even connected yet but you can become connected today. All you need to do is, come to him. He will receive you and he will plug you into the family of God. If you’re a backslider, come back. He’s waiting to receive you. Come and reconnect to the Almighty God.
