SUCCESS SATURDAY EVANGELIST MARY MANDI

“I had no good dress or shoe, some sisters had to dress me up to minister in their program. On many instances, I receive no financial encouragement from many who invite me “

I am MARY MANDI, a Cameroonian Music Evangelist. I am married and blessed with children. I started my gospel music career in Cameroon in the mid-seventies. After I acknowledged Jesus as Lord and saviour, my passion for God only kept growing. Growing up as a child, I loved singing and music in general so I joined the church choir in FULL GOSPEL MISSION TIKO where I started off my musical career learning to play the guitar.

In the mid-seventies and eighties, I used to listen to Radio Buea where I would hear gospel songs being played from our music ministers in Nigeria, Emmanuel, Lazarus and others. I desired to record my songs but the challenges I faced stood as a big wall before me. I had no money, nobody to help me with the finances in my family and church; so I started praying for God to bless me with a producer.
It wasn’t easy! Also I had no music studio to record my songs. My first album titled NA WETI BE MAN was produced by Rev. KOMAMDO IVO. It was recorded in Baptist voice preaching Studio Nkwen Bamenda, a small studio in the eighties were Pastors went to preach their messages.

I had no good dresses or good shoes to put on and minister with. I remember being invited by the Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI) in Kumba, because I was coming to minister in their crusade, the sisters had to dress me to look good to minister in their programme. I was invited for music programmes like Crusades, Conferences, marriages: no money was given to encourage my music ministry or even my coming. I kept on ministering for many years without financial encouragement from those who invited me or who still invite me. Even now, some still give me anything they like and still call me…. ‘Mary Mandi come’ and I will still go to sing for the glory of God.

With all these challenges I have never denied being used by my God. By God’s grace and help, I shall keep on doing what He has called me to do so that Many souls will be saved.

Inspite of all these challenges, I faced and continue to face by the grace of God, I am still active as a gospel music servant. The songs that I have been ministering to people since mid seventies have made great impact in my life and in the lives of many Cameroonians and people accross the world. Some who sat under my ministrations in the past years are now great men and women of God today. Some are great singers because they listened to my songs and they gave their lives to Christ.

I cannot count the number of souls that have been added to the Kingdom through my evangelistic style of music, unique Cameroonian native dance steps and my use of diverse Cameroonian languages to sing. I am still active by the grace of God teaching praise and worship in churches and presently training the younger generation on how to sing and play the guitar. This vision has stood the test of time in Cameroon and I believe has been a blessing to the body of Christ. I have not yet arrived, we still need much for the work: Instruments, box guitars, key boards, drum sets, microphones, Speakers and amplifier for the training of God’s future gospel song ministers but these needs and challenges have never held me back from pouring out myself for His glory. And by God’s grace the impact being made in His Kingdom has been worth every trial. It has only gone better and better with time.
