29th May, 1981: Brother David Oyedepo begins a weekly teaching fellowship meeting called ‘Faith Liberation Hour’ at ECWA Youth Center, Ilorin about 4 weeks after he received the ‘Liberation Mandate’ on 1st – 2nd May, 1981.

29th May, 2022: Prelate Emeritus Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kalu Uche was abducted along with two other Clergymen, then Methodist Bishop of Owerri, Right Reverend Okechukwu Michael and then Prelate’s Chaplain, at the Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, along Enugu-Port Harcourt highway. The Prelate Emeritus, Methodist Church Nigeria and the 2 others were released after the Church paid N100 million ransom to their captors who were alleged to be ‘foreign herdsmen from Mali and Sudan’.

29th May, 1982: Bishop Thomas Dexter and Serita Jakes weds. They are the founders and lead pastors of the Potter’s House, Dallas. Their union is blessed with 5 children.

29th May, 1890: Samuel Zwemer is ordained in the Reformed Church of America. He would later become a leading missionary to the Islamic world. He was nicknamed, ‘The Apostle to Islam.’

29th May, 1832: Reverend George Burder, an evangelical pastor and hymn writer passes on to glory. He was one of the founders of the Religious Tract Society, the British and Foreign Bible Society and London Missionary Society. He was aged 80.

29th May, 1967: Pope Paul VI names 27 new cardinals, including then Archbishop of Krakow, Poland, Karol Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II.
