KIND PEOPLE GIVE GOD THE PRAISE HE DESERVES, UNKIND PEOPLE DON’T, JUST THE WAY THEY BEHAVE WITH MEN
- Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche on “OBSTACLES OR ENEMIES OF PRAISE” || June Prophetic and Miracle Service|| Dunamis International Gospel Centre || The Glory Dome, Abuja.
Very quickly, we shall be looking at “OBSTACLES (ENEMIES) OF PRAISE”. 1 Thessalonians 5:18. In everything, give thanks, which means there are situations in which the giving of thanks may be difficult or the giving of praise. Church Gist. But, in everything, in every single thing, give thanks. 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Our objective this morning is understanding the diverse distractions or obstacles to a healthy praise-worship life. Church Gist. What are the distractions or obstacles that exist to the healthy praise-worship life?
By way of introduction, two things are clear:
- The life of praise is the purpose of the child of God. Isaiah 43:21. That is, if we are not living in praise, we are not fulfilling purpose.
- Both the quality and durability of life are dependent on praise. Church Gist. If we are going to live life that is qualitative, if we are going to live life that lasts, it’s dependent on our praise. Psalm 150:6. Everything that is fighting your praise is fighting your breath, it’s fighting the durability and the quality of your life. Church Gist. So, we must resist those things that resist our praise in order to defend our lives, in order to protect and preserve our lives.
What are those things?
- The heart of ingratitude.
When a man is not grateful, he can’t be praiseful. The heart of ingratitude, we must resist it. Psalm 100:4. Church Gist. And we know that as we approach the end of time, ingratitude will multiply. 2 Timothy 3:2. Unthankfulness is a symptom of the end time. I can’t get into the details of how unthankful our generation is today. Unthankful to each other, people are finding it very difficult to say thank you now when you do something for them. Church Gist. And thank you even to the people that are close relations and they take that to God. - The spirit of pride.
Pride is an enemy of praise. Arrogant, proud people don’t perceive the need to praise or even to appreciate man. Church Gist. Psalm 69:30-32. It takes humility to appreciate abundantly. It takes humility to praise God liberally. That was what happened when the Wise Men, the Wise Men that came to visit Jesus. Matthew 2:11. They fell down and worshipped Him. It takes humility to worship. You know, it was arrogance and pride that made Lucifer to become Satan. Ezekiel 28:11-15. What was that iniquity? Isaiah 14:12-14. Church Gist. That was the arrogance and the pride that made Lucifer become Satan. He was the chief worshipper of Heaven but when pride came in, he decided to worship himself than to worship God.
Beloved, if your worship will be successful, you must deal with the spirit of ingratitude, you must deal with the spirit of pride, otherwise, it’s an attack on your life.
- The spirit of discouragement and depression.
Discouragement, depression is an enemy of praise. Isaiah 61:3. The spirit of heaviness is the enemy of the garment of praise. Church Gist. If you’re going to wear the garment of praise, you must let go of the spirit of discouragement and depression. Psalm 42:11. Everywhere depression is allowed, celebration is excused. Church Gist. People who agree to settle for depression are excused from the celebration of God.
Beloved, you must make up your mind. According to Job 14:14, you must make up your mind that whatever the situation is around you right now, change is coming. Church Gist. You must deliberately reject depression. In the prison, Paul and Silas were beaten, yet, they decided to settle for their frustration. (Speaks in tongues). You know the meaning of that tongue? If your prison cannot stop your praise, your praise will open your prison. Church Gist. Paul and Silas were in prison, that was enough to arrest their praise but their prison could not stop their praise so their praise had to open their prison. If your frustration does not prevent your celebration, your celebration will terminate your frustration. If your challenge does not stop your song, your song will swallow your challenge. Church Gist. Never allow the devil to cause your praise to die because of depression.
- I decree today, every agenda of depression is arrested forever!
- somebody say, “I’ll praise the Lord who is the health of my countenance”.
- shout the loudest Amen.
- The lack of goodness and kindness.
People who are not good, they are not good people, they are not kind people, they don’t give to others what belongs to them. Church Gist. People who are not good and kind people, they deprive others what is theirs. Psalm 29:2. God is not struggling for what is not His. “This is my praise, give it to me”. Bad people don’t give people what is theirs, they hold it back. Do you understand? I mean, you have seen some people who should naturally have given a natural compliment but they’re angry that the person is looking good, they’re angry that the person is successful, so they won’t say it. Church Gist. They see good things, they keep quiet, where they should give appreciation, they’re quiet, when it is condemnation, it is heavy. If you look at the society today, those who push bad news seem to make more waves.
How many of you know that if you want to advertise a program that is forthcoming, you pay advertisement rate, whether it is on NTA or anything you want it, you pay. Church Gist. They say, “this is the rate for 30 minutes advert” but they don’t pay for bad news. ‘There’s a car on fire’, they don’t pay for it, they push it out free of charge. That is how the society and life has been wired and people take that to God. This glory that is due to God, celebrate it, no way. ‘God has not answered my prayer’, we’ll complain to many people. ‘God has answered me’, nobody is hearing. But it’s changing. Church Gist. The lack of goodness and kindness. Psalm 54:6. Good people praise God, bad people don’t. Kind people give God the praise He deserves, unkind people don’t, just the way they behave with men. Church Gist. Today, you’re about to prove your kindness and goodness by giving God His praise.
The counsel is, do everything possible to avoid the factors and forces that militate against your thanksgiving and praise. Do everything possible, do everything everything feasible, do everything within your power to antagonize those factors and forces. So, trust God today for the heart of gratitude, trust God for freedom from pride, trust God to resist the spirit of depression and trust to resist the heart that lacks goodness and kindness and we shall praise the Lord. Is there somebody who is ready to praise God this morning?
