16th January 2002: The World Mission Agency’s request to establish Covenant University as a private higher institution is approved by the the National Universities Council (NUC) in Nigeria. Covenant University is currently ranked the best University in West Africa by Times Higher Education.

16th January 2004: Bishop George Adjeman kickstarted a rebellion in Winners Chapel, Accra, Ghana by clandestinely changing the names of the trustees of the Living Faith Church Worldwide in a re-registration document submitted on behalf of the Church in Accra, Ghana. Subsequent events led to a ‘declaration of independence on 4th June 2004. The breakaway attempt of Bishop George Adjeman of the Church which at the time had a 16,000 membership strong headquarters with 14 branches eventually failed with the Supreme Court of Ghana ruling ordering a reversal in 2023.
Bishop George Adjeman evacuated Winners’ Chapel International properties in December 2023 following the Ghana Supreme Court ruling.

16th January 2019: The Lagos Diocese of the Anglican Church under the leadership of Right Reverend Dr Humphrey Bamisebi Olumakaiye announces the proposal of the construction of a five billion naira Centenary City. This is to address the housing needs of low-income members of the Church. The Church has acquired an expanse of land on the Lekki-Ibeju Epe axis of Lagos State Nigeria for this construction.

16th January 1604: Puritan John Rainolds suggests that there should be a new translation of the Bible because the previous ones were not answerable to the truth of the Original. In 1611, King James 1 of England published the First Edition of the ‘Authorized’ King James Version of the Bible.

16th January 2005: The Father’s House (a.k.a The Father’s Favourite Ministries) is founded by Rev. Adewale Olujimi Akinronbi in Odo-Eran, Obankoto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

16th January 1959: Juanita Bynum is born. She is the Founder of Juanita Bynum Ministries. She is also a Gospel Music Minister and Evangelist.

16th January 1890: Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (Former Chicago Evangelization Society) is dedicated. The Bible Institute began 17 years after Evangelist D.L. Moody met Emma Drye.
