15th April 1452: Italian Painter and Scholar, Leonardo da Vinci is born in Florence, Italy. Among his most famous religious works are the Virgin of the Rocks, The Last Supper and St. John the Baptist. The Last Supper painting is on a wall in the Dominican convent adjoining the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. He passed on to glory at age 67.
15th April 1892: Dutch devotional Writer, Corrie Ten Boom is born. She is known for hiding Jewish refugees in her home during World War II (an act dramatized in the 1971 film – The Hiding Place). She smuggl£d Bibles to Jews and others in need, often hiding them in various places to avoid detection by the Nazis. She was also constantly baking bread to feed them. She passed on to glory on this date (15th April) 1983.
15th April 2022: Dr. David Heward-Mills passes on to glory at the age of 31 after a brief illness. He was the first Son of the Founder of United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UDOLGC), Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.
15th April 2024: Jerry Savelle Passes on to glory. He was an American Televangelist, Author and Speaker. He was also the President of Jerry Savelle Ministries International.
15th April 2023: The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Christ The Lord Parish, Lagos holds an economic summit. It was an interdenominational event and part of the Church Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives geared towards helping Nigerians with knowledge and resources to navigate the emerging economic challenges.
15th April 2023: Fulani herdsmen invade a Christian community (Runji Village) in Kaduna state leaving 33 Christians dead and many others wounded. Nearly half of the houses in the village were burnt down.
15th April 1889: Joseph Damien passes on to glory. He was a Belgian Roman Catholic Priest and a Missionary to lepers in Molokai, Hawaii. He died of the disease (leprosy). He was aged 49.
