27th May 1917: Pope Benedict XV proclaims the Codex luris Canonici (Code of Canon Law) by papal bull. This Code of Canon Law which is divided into five books and 2,414 canons is the first redaction of the Canon Law to be made in the Roman Catholic Church in modern times.

27th May, 1564: John Calvin (born Jean Chauvin) passes on to glory. He was a French-born theologian and Swiss ecclesiastical reformer, also called “The Organizer of Protestantism”. He built on the premise that the Bible is the only trustworthy source of knowledge and thereby unified the scattered reform theologies of Europe.
