While preaching on the topic ‘Wonders of His Silence’ at the Online Sunday Service, Pastor Adeboye stated that, “Our God is not a talkative and He will also advise you not to be a talkative.” Church Gist. He shared the reason for this, which is that the evidence of wisdom lies in silence. He backed it up with Scriptures, quoting Proverbs 29:11 which says, “A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
Pastor Adeboye reiterated that, “When you see someone who is always talking, you know that here comes a fool but in silence, you have a cover for ignorance.”
Provided you keep your mouth shut, no one will know that you are lacking knowledge in a particular field and this was clearly written in Proverbs 17:28. “Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.” Church Gist. Therefore, being talkative is not a trait to possess as a wise person.
