Teaching on the subject, “Avoiding the Plague of Prayerlessness” on Sunday, Dr. Paul admonished the Congregation against pride and arrogance, especially those men who unashamedly leaves spiritual duties to their wives alone.
Quoting his words, he said, “Pride fuels prayerlessness. I’ve seen a lot of arrogant men, proud men, ‘do you go to Church?’ ‘oh, not really’ ‘prayer?’ ‘not really. It’s my wife, my wife is a prayerful type’. Have you seen such people before? So full of themselves and they’re proud talking like that. When I see them, I pity them. One calamity just wipes them out”.
Speaking further against on why everyone should maintain a prayerful life, he said, “Please understand two things on this matter, one, that prayerlessness is a confession of self sufficiency. When a person is prayerless, it’s a declaration of self sufficiency and independence of God. That’s what the man is declaring when a person is prayerless. Why is that so? Because the Bible tells us that those who need help run to God. Those who need mercy run to God. Hebrews 4:16. So, when you see a man who is insufficient and helpless in himself, when he cannot help himself, he runs to God”.
