WHEN PEOPLE ASK HOW FAR?
SAY – GOD HAS DONE IT!

During his recent sermon, Bishop Oyedepo showed the congregation a proper way to respond to mockers scripturally, “I suffered much mockery on the subject of prosperity in those days but I won’t stop shouting it. No, I saw it. I saw it in the Word. I couldn’t feel the pinch of the mockery, I know where I am going. One day one of our deaconesses came to me crying “Sir, please don’t say you will be rich again, they are talking against you in town.” I said against me and you are the one crying. Church Gist. What’s your problem? It was a Wednesday and I got to service that evening and said ‘One of you was crying that I should not say I will be rich again. I will not only be rich, I will be the richest.’ I looked at her where she was sitting, she started laughing. She needed that laughter. She was bothered about me, I wasn’t bothered. I know where I am going. If they insult you for going to church, do you now go to a shrine or to a cult? No! Am I poor now? So the mockery is over. It doesn’t last.”
He went on to charge his listeners to always rejoice and allow nothing to steal their joy “Every discovery of the truth will begin with mockery before it turns into double glory. It will begin with mockery. No more crying behind closed doors, no one else sees it but God sees it. Church Gist. If anybody asks you how far, say God has done it. Most of them are not asking out of concern it is in mockery. God has done it. Silence the devil. God has done it. Let no devil break your joy. Your joy is the custodian of your future.”
He also spoke about how joyful the Commission was when its international headquarters was built with grass in 1987 built for ₦23,000 “I used to say in those days that we had the largest Grass Cathedral in the world. If anyone saw any larger one, they should let me know. We were in a city not in a village. We built the church with grass and we were very excited about it. Is it still a Grass Cathedral? Relax. If you let anybody break your joy, they have broken your destiny. Church Gist. One of the most joyless places in the world are hospitals. Everyone is carrying long faces around. If you laugh, they think you are wicked. “E pele (Sorry)” “Eyah (What a pity)” “Sorry oh”. You came to pray but you are now crying yourself. So who will receive your prayers? Rejoice in the Lord and again I say rejoice. Rejoice evermore.”
