5th August, 1876: 28-year-old Scottish Presbyterian missionary, Mary Mitchell Slessor “Queen of Calabar” sails from Liverpool, England, on the SS Ethiopia, bound for Duke Town in Calabar, Nigeria to begin missionary work.

5th August, 1850: 36-year-old Thomas Jefferson Bowen arrives the Badagry area of the current Lagos State. He is the first international missionary appointed in 1849 by the Southern Baptist Convention of America to kickstart the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

5th August, 2016: The inaugural service of Trinity House London is held at The London Marriott Hotel, Maida Vale, Plaza Parade, London. This is a branch of the Pastor Ituah Ighodalo led Trinity House Nigeria.

5th August, 1985: Gloria Sola Bamiloye accepts Mike Bamiloye’s marriage proposal. Mike Bamiloye is the Founder and President of Mount Zion Faith Ministries and Mount Zion Television.
