During the Third Service of the Supernatural Turnaround Service, Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr stated that true joy is not found in material possessions but only comes from within as facilitated by the Holy Spirit.
He said: “I’ve shared this before, years ago, I was told about a particular man. The Man was a very wealthy man. He had all properties everywhere, vehicles, all kinds of things. Whatever it is that money could get, he had it. And one of his nieces was a born again believer and she was concerned because she discovered that this Man would not do anything for any member of their family. Different people had different challenges and yet he was not supporting anyone anywhere. Church Gist. She began to talk to him, she said: “Uncle, you see so many people having so many issues, why would you not help anybody? Why won’t you do anything for anybody?” And the Man looked at her and shook his head. He said: “If you know what you have, you will not want what I have.” She couldn’t understand what she said. He left and travelled back to the City where he lives and not long after that, about a week or so later. She got news that the Man had committed suicide. She could not understand how a person can have what others are running after but lack joy. It was at that point she recognized what he was saying when he said: “If you know what you have, you will not go after what I have.” There is no physical or material thing that can truly give you joy. Joy can only come from within and the Holy Ghost is the ultimate facilitator of joy. Romans 14:17. Church Gist. He is the One that gives you joy, that keeps you rejoicing no matter what is happening. He is the One that keeps you on your feet at every point in time. He’s the One that positions you with joy that cannot be diminished by circumstances and situations. Shout hallelujah! I remember years ago, there was a particular comedian, who was very, very successful and has been successful for so many years, making everybody laugh. But one day, they got into his room and found that he had hung himself and came to find out that the One who has been making other people laugh has been suffering from depression for many, many years. You see? We live in a world today where a lot of people are just packaging, somebody will smile outside by the time he gets inside, put his head down like this, ”what is wrong?” He cannot even tell you what is wrong but everything is wrong about him. Why? Because we are in a world today where people are consistently and continuously in a depressive state. That’s because what brings joy is not outside, it’s inside. Joy comes from within as facilitated by the Holy Ghost.”
