9th March 2020: Nigeria’s ruling party, the All-Progressive Congress (APC) attacked Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church for prophesying that President Muhammadu Buhari’s days are numbered. Speaking, the APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena asked that the Bishop’s head be examined, suggesting that the Winners Chapel Founder has not contributed anything to Nigeria.
9th March 1845: The First Church Missionary Society (CMS) Church in Badagry Lagos State Nigeria is opened for worship. The foundation of the building was laid in 1842, and the House was completed in 1845. It was erected by Reverend Henry Townsend and occupied by Samuel Ajayi Crowther, the First African CMS Bishop; when he undertook the translation of the Holy Bible from English Language to Yoruba Language. It is the First-storey building in Nigeria.
9th March 1907: John Alexander Dowie passes on at age 60. He was a Scottish Australian minister known as a Christian evangelist and faith healer and the Founder of City of Zion, Illinois Chicago, United States of America
9th March 1831: Evangelist Charles Finney concludes a six-month series of meetings in Rochester, New York. He preached 98 sermons between 10th September 1830 and March 1831. The meetings, which have been called “the world’s greatest single revival campaign,” led to the closing of the town’s theater and taverns, a two-thirds drop in crime, and a reported 100,000 conversions.
9th March 2010: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeals for calm following the sectarian massacre of more than 500 Christians on Sunday, 7th March, 2010 near the Nigerian city of Jos, that sparked international shock and outrage. Residents of 3 predominantly Christian settlements: Dogo Nahawa village, Zot village and Berom community near Jos said Muslim herders from surrounding hills launched what appeared to be reprisal attacks in the early hours of the day following sectarian clashes which killed hundreds in January, 2010
