Bishop David Oyedepo while teaching during the second Sunday service at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland shared some of his experiences with bitterness from other ministers of the gospel. Church Gist. He said “A minister once came to me in Kaduna. Very brutal! He said God told him to tell me He was no longer with me because of the things I was teaching. I said thank you. He said did you hear what I said? I said thank you. Now whether God is with me or not, He can tell now wherever He is. It was just bitterness.”
He also said that in the early days of Living Faith Church Worldwide, the holy communion was tagged evil because it was new to the Charismastics. All kinds of unsavoury statements were made about his teachings from 1984 to 1986 in Kaduna. “Today there is no living church that does not partake of the communion. It was strange then but now it is normal. May God open your eyes on time. Church Gist. The prosperity message was dubbed as carnality from the very beginning of this ministry. Somebody was preaching and he said “This prosperity message is dialectically materialistic.” I have never heard that English before. It was an insult thrown at me. So it is not easy to forget, both the depth of the grammar and the bitterness that enwrapped it. Today, every one that once attacked it is now writing books on it.”
