It was an emotional moment during the first Service on Sunday as Apostle Emmanuel Iren offered scholarships to the children of a woman who lost her husband.
It all began via the leading of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Iren beckoned on members to show appreciation to members of the Church who had helped them during their dark moments in their lives. He further gave opportunity to few persons to openly appreciate these people. A woman who lost her husband came forth and shared how she had received help from members of the Church.
According to her, on the day her husband was rushed to the hospital, she reached out to a member of her MAP (Meet And Pray – a cell fellowship structure) group who prayed with her on the phone from 11pm – 5am. Not only that, she was highly supported by the group members who gave her moral, emotional, material and financial support.
She was advised to relocate to another place by her concerned family members but she refused as this would draw her away from the Church. She didn’t know where help would come from but she made up her mind that nothing would stop her from coming to Church. Her children were taken care of, a member brought foodstuffs to her, transportation cost to Church was taken care of, etc.
The story of the woman touched Apostle Iren. He told her that her children will be given scholarships and her family will be taken care of as God enables him. He further encouraged the woman by telling her, “you are not alone.”
This is one of the many charitable activities that the Church has been rendering to people in these trying times.
