RIGHTEOUSNESS SUSTAINS STRENGTH WHILE UNRIGHTEOUSNESS DEFLATES STRENGTH

UNRIGHTEOUSNESS AFFECTS YOUR SPIRITUAL STRENGTH AND STAMINA.
NO ONE WHO IS A LIAR OR A THIEF CAN BE SPIRITUALLY STRONG.
SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD AND SEPARATION FROM GOD EQUALS WEAKNESS
ONCE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT THERE, BOLDNESS DISAPPEARS WHILE FEAR AND TIMIDITY COME IN PLACE
THE STRENGTH OF YOUR CONSCIENCE DETERMINES THE STRENGTH OF YOUR LIFE

I want to give a charge, something that is very important, before this conference is over and that is, “STRENGTH FROM RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Our objective this morning is to understand how strength is sustained by righteousness and also understanding how iniquity destroys strength. Church Gist. Be strong in the Lord, we are trying to get to know all the things that will make our strength to hold. Proverbs 28:1; Proverbs 30:30. Meaning of that is, righteousness sustains strength while unrighteousness deflates strength. Numbers 23:21-22; 1 Samuel 15:29. God is the strength of Israel because he cannot lie – if he lies, he can’t be the strength of Israel. Church Gist. He is called the strength of Israel because he won’t lie. Sin makes people lose strength. Psalm 31:10. Iniquity causes strength to fail. Proverbs 10:29; Proverbs 7:24-26. Dr Mrs Becky Enenche read it the other day. Iniquity slays people.
Do we have examples of people that lost strength because of iniquity? 3 examples.
- Israel through Achan. Joshua 7:11-12. Israel in the days of Achan, Israel was fighting the little Nation of Ai and they couldn’t stand and Joshua cried in Joshua 7:8,11,12. Do you understand? They turned their backs on their enemies because of sin. Church Gist. But what is most painful is that it was one man that sinned and the consequences of it affected everybody. Please, don’t let your life affect the rest of the people. Israel through Achan weakened the strength of the whole of Israel.
- Samson in the days of Delilah. Samson lost strength because of iniquity. Church Gist. Judges 16:20-24. Samson lost strength to iniquity.
- Joshua the High Priest. Zechariah 3:1-3. Church Gist. The devil resisted him because he was wearing a filthy garment.
Finally. What is the impact of unrighteousness on strength?
- Unrighteousness directly affects spiritual strength and stamina. If you are a liar, a thief and like Dr. Mrs. Enenche preached the other day, you kept on distributing your waters or receiving the distribution, it directly affects your strength. Church Gist. It affects your strength. Psalm 31:10. No liar can be spiritually strong. No thief can be spiritually strong. No immoral person can be spiritually strong. No fraudster can be spiritually strong. No smoker, no drunkard can be spiritually strong. Unrighteousness directly attacks spiritual strength and stamina.
- Unrighteousness disconnects people from the presence of God. Isaiah 59:1-2. It separates you and separation from God equals weakness because the presence of God carries strength. Church Gist. 1 Chronicles 16:27 shows us that the presence of God carries strength. So, when sin disconnects you from His presence, it disconnects you from strength. Unrighteousness attacks spiritual strength and stamina. Unrighteousness disconnects us from His presence.
- Unrighteousness destroys boldness and confidence. You can’t be bold, it introduces fear and fear paralyzes strength. “The wicked flees when no man pursues but the righteous are bold as a lion”. Church Gist. Once righteousness is not there, boldness is not there, confidence is not there, fear and timidity are in place.
- Unrighteousness invites satanic resistance. When a man is unrighteous, like Joshua the High Priest and wore a filthy garment, satan stood to resist him.
- that shall never be your portion!
- if you believe that, shout a louder Amen!
What is my counsel today?
- Do everything you can to live a life, to maintain a conscience that is void of offense towards God and man. Acts 24:16. Church Gist. Ensure. The strength of your conscience determines the strength of your life. Endeavour to always maintain a conscience that is void of offence towards God and man.
- Never agree to sleep over unconfessed sin – any sin, any fault. If we confess our sins, He’s faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Church Gist. 1 John 1:7-9. Unconfessed sin, unconfessed guilt.
- lift up your right hand and just begin to speak to God.
