IN THE HOUSE OF GOD, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT GOD IS NEAR AND YOU CAN BE SURE HE WILL ANSWER YOU
THE ONLY ONE WHO WILL LEAVE THE CHURCH WITHOUT RECEIVING A MIRACLE IS THE ONE WHO REFUSES TO STOP SINNING
THE BEAUTY OF COMING TO CHURCH IS THAT IN THE HOUSE OF GOD, BURDENS ARE LIFTED

Well, I am delighted to be with you today and as Mummy said, you’re the first people we are visiting after a wonderful meeting at the camp and I want to join my voice to that of my wife and say, “Welcome Mayor, God bless you.” The one who spoke to you is a prophetess, so she had already prophesied that very soon you will be ordained a pastor. I want to say, Amen to that and I have my friend …where are they seated? (Searching) Somewhere there. Mr and Mrs Davenport happen to be among the first friends I ever met in America and if we want to count the number of homes where I have stayed, I mean private homes where I have stayed in America, you’re not likely to get 10 but I have stayed in their home before. To tell you the truth, I’ve known them before the Redeemed Christian Church of God started here. I was going from their home to the Airport when God spoke to me and said, “the headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is going to be here.” At that time we haven’t even started the house fellowship. So, God is faithful and this family had been my friends ever since. They’ve been to Nigeria, they…and they’ve come today because they said, “oh, are you coming to visit us for lunch or dinner?” That was yesterday or the day before. “Sorry Sir because of my assignment this time I won’t be able to come.” They said “okay, we will come to the Church and see you.” God bless you Sir, God bless you Ma.
Now, the introduction is that long, that means the sermon is going to be brief.
Isaiah 56:6-7. The beauty of coming to Church is, you come to have a meeting with the owner of the house and when you consider the story of Mark 2:1-12, they carried that man in but he went out on his own, we can see clearly that in the house of God, burdens are lifted. Church Gist. Some of us are here today, we are still burdens on some people.
- From today onward, you will be a burden to nobody!
(It is) Because Jesus Christ is the burden bearer, the Bible says he had carried away our burdens. He himself said clearly, come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Church Gist. So I am prophesying to somebody today:
- That because you have come to the house of God, whatever that burden is, that problem that you can’t even talk to anybody about, that followed you into this house, you won’t take it back home!
In the house of God, faith is rewarded. When Jesus Christ saw the faith of the people lowering that man through the roof into his presence, he said, “I must do something about the faith of these people to show them that by faith you can receive any miracle.” Church Gist. Hebrews 11:6. You are in Church this morning because you believe there is God and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
- I am standing here as his representative to say to all of you who have come to Church today, because you have come, My God will reward you!
Mark 9:23.
- because you are here today, you came in faith, whatever it is you want God to do for you he will do it for you!
I need to tell you a story quick: a great prophet said to an elderly man at the beginning of a year: thus saith the Lord, put your house in order because you will die this year. Church Gist. The man said, what have I done? The prophet said it is not a question of what you did or you’ve not done, God just wants you to know this is your last year on Earth. “Is there anything I can do to avoid death?” The prophet said no. Okay, the man said, could you help me tell God to at least let me see December 31st? After all, December 31 is still part of the year. Oh, the prophet said “no problem. All he asked me to tell you is, you’re dying this year.” The man said, good.
December 31st came, he was still alive. He woke up very early in the morning and began to run towards our headquarter Church in Ebute Metta. He didn’t take a bus because he didn’t want an accident. Every fellow he met on the way, he dodged them because he could be the one coming to kill. One way or the other, he got into the Church and said, “aha! I am in the house of God. Church Gist. The death that will come and kill me here, I will like to see that death.” That man lived for many years more because God chose to honour his faith.
- You have come by faith and God will honour you today!
In the house of God, Glory Ahead like we discussed at this our last conference can become Glory Now. Why? John 2:1-12. The One who said the time is not yet, in less than one hour saw to it that not yet became now. Church Gist. I want to pray for someone from the bottom of my heart:
- All the blessings that are supposed to come to you in one year, two years, 5 years, any great thing God has planned for your future, will begin today!
Then, Jesus Christ said, “my house shall be a house of prayer.” Jeremiah 33:3 – He promised he will answer prayers. Then, he quickly put in a fine print: seek the Lord when he may be found, call on him while he is near. Which means, if you’re calling when he is already far away, you may have a problem. Church Gist. But in the house of God, there is no doubt about it that he is near. “Oh when I’m travelling on the highway if I pray God may answer” – no doubt about that. But occasionally you yourself can testify to that: you have prayed and God seems to be far away and because he is invisible, you don’t know whether he is to your right or to your left, or far away. After all, he has to take care of the whole world and he might be paying attention to somebody who is facing an earthquake somewhere and your own problem is minor. But in the house of God you’re sure he is in, he is not far, he is near. So if you call on him then, you can be sure he will answer you.
Years ago, we had a convention at the camp – very big convention so I had to do a lot of working and running around. By the time the convention was over, I was glad but I was very very tired. Church Gist. So I came to my house, gathered my children together, prayed a very short prayer, you know the kind of prayer you pray when you’re tired, “Almighty God thank you for today, see you tomorrow.” Haven’t you prayed that kind of prayer before? I was so tired I couldn’t even remove my dress. So I told my wife, “please I want to sleep now. I don’t want any disturbance.” As I hit the bed, I was already drifting off to sleep and then my wife came knocking at the door. I said, what is it? I told you I must rest now. “There’s a woman who came from the North, have been travelling for days and she insisted she must see you.”
“Why don’t you tell her?”
“We told her. She came, she asked the children, is Daddy in? The children said yes.” Ahhh glory be to God. But he has said that he is not seeing anybody here again today.
The woman said, “who said today? I am going to sit in the front door. Anytime he chooses to come out, he must see me.” So my wife said, I know you’re tired better add this to your tiredness. So I had to get up. I came to her, “what’s the problem?”
She said, “all I want you to do is just speak to my head. Church Gist. This head that has been refusing miracles, just speak to the head and say, hey, stop refusing good things.”
I speak to your heads: your heads will never refuse good things!
God is in and you’re in his presence and you will get your miracle today. Only one fellow can go out of here without receiving a miracle today. It is the one who will refuse to stop sinning. Isaiah 59:1-2. God is saying, as long as you’re still living in sin, it doesn’t matter how hard you cry. When he doesn’t hear how is he going to answer? Church Gist. That’s why in the next two or three minutes that I have, if there is anyone here and you know you’re still living in sin and you know you have not given your life to Jesus or you say you’re born again but you know you’re still living in sin, because this is a very special day, I beg you to come and stand before the altar.
