Situated in the ancient, yet beautiful city of Ibadan, South West Nigeria, the Church was founded by Pastor Olubi Johnson in the early 1980s when Olubi Johnson while studying a postgraduate degree in Communications Engineering at Imperial College London (1979-1980) received a call to teach the undiluted Word of God on a systematic and consistent basis for the ‘…PERFECTING of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ…’. Since then he has ministered the Word of God extensively in churches, seminars, and conventions.

The Church began her meetings at Bodija International School, attracting youths such as Poju Oyemade who were drawn by the Anointing of the Holy Spirit on Pastor Olubi Johnson and obviously impressed by the remarkable intellectual prowess on the Pastor who was also studying at University of Ibadan for his Master’s degree in Physics (1984-1985) after graduating from University of Ibadan with a First Class (B.Sc Physics) in 1978.
The Church lays a strong emphasis on the Word and Prayers as she runs with the vision of Ephesians 4:12-13
“For the PERFECTING of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”
According to Pastor Poju Oyemade, “we were taught the New Testament verse by verse for an hour every Sunday in the Bible study class before the proper celebration service began. The entire New Testament was covered word for word.

If you went through Scripture Pasture Christian Centre and stayed there for three years, you would have gone through every verse of the New Testament. That way you couldn’t have grown on a skewed foundation emphasizing only a few scriptures through which you believed God for things.

If Scripture Pasture passed through you, you were definitely a man or woman of prayer. He made us understand only men and women of prayer will go the distance. I remember him telling us as young men if you cannot go 6 hours straight praying in the spirit you are not worth your salt as a minister of the gospel.”

The emphasis of the Ministry is on PERFECTING firstly the nature and then secondly the character of Christ in the saints (Matthew 23:26). The Ministry believes in ‘The Bible and Salvation through Jesus Christ’; ‘Baptism in Water and in the Holy Spirit, The Lord’s Supper and Supernatural Living’; ‘Body of Christ and Local Church’; ‘Perfection of the Church’; ‘Second Coming of Christ, Resurrection and Eternal Judgement’.

Her weekly schedules include ‘Bible Study and Sunday Worship’ (Sunday); ‘Intercessors For Africa Prayer Meeting’ (Monday to Friday); ‘Intercessory School’ (Tuesday); ‘All Night Prayer Meeting’ (Tuesday); ‘School of the Spirit and Healing Service’ (Wednesday); ‘Gideon’s Army Prayer Meeting’ (Saturday); ‘Foundation of Christian Faith Classes’ (Saturday).
