• I want to declare to you that you will encounter something you have never heard

• Your most difficult challenge will turn to a testimony in the name of Jesus

We are still in the month of ‘THE WONDERS OF HIS WORD’ and today we will be looking at ‘THE WORD: PROVOKER OF FAITH.’ God’s word is loaded with power, signs and wonders. God’s word is supernatural. Church Gist. When you embrace God’s word, supernatural changes take place in your life. Hebrews 1:3. There’s no problem God’s word cannot solve.

• Today, every challenge you’re going through shall end with a testimony.

Hear this and hear me well: refuse to be a word lazy Christian because if you are a word lazy Christian, you have no future in this kingdom. Church Gist. God’s word is a problem solving manual. Isaiah 34:16. If you don’t read, nothing can change in your life. Take time to find out what is in the Bible and read. But you know we live in a society and in a world today where people don’t want to read the word. Even when they come to Church, they say, ‘Pastor, just speak the word.’ Church Gist. You say, ‘this book (the Bible) will deliver you. They say, ‘no no Pastor, just speak the Word.’

Somebody came to me and said, ‘speak the word.’ I said, ‘the word.’ Church Gist. He said, ‘no, that’s not what I’m saying.’ I said, ‘read this book.’ He said ‘no no Sir, just speak the word.’ I said, ‘the word.’

No matter who prays for you, if you don’t encounter the word you will still be struggling in the world. Church Gist. No man’s prayer can deliver you from the challenges of life; you need an encounter, personal revelation. God’s word can’t fail. It is time for you and I to labour in the Word of God and encounter faith that will guarantee rest. Church Gist. Hebrews 4:11. If you don’t labour in the word, you will begin to walk in unbelief. You will think God’s word is not true.

It took me 7 days labour to come out of poverty. I sat with God’s word, picked the book of Gloria Copeland and my mentor’s book and I sat with the 2 books for 7 days fasting, eating God’s word. Church Gist. I was not fasting for breakthrough, I was fasting for light. I sat with the word of God for 7 days and I saw in God’s word that I can prosper no matter the nation I stay. With 50 naira in my pocket as a married man, 1997, married with family, I put my hand in my pocket and told my wife listen, we can never be poor. It’s not the day you get money you become rich, it’s the day you get revelation. Church Gist. I said to her, no devil can make us poor. 50 naira not dollars; if it’s today, it has no equivalent in dollars. Even if it has any equivalent, it will be in cent but for dollar, even one dollar is bigger than it. True? This is because one dollar is sixty something naira. So 50 naira will fall under cents. Are you getting what I am saying now? Not 50,000 but 50 naira. And that was what a married man had but I said, ‘I can’t be poor’ when I discovered the truth. I labored, but I’m at rest when it comes to prosperity. Church Gist. There is no devil in this world that can make me poor. You know when you’re on drug, you don’t care who is standing before you. I have gotten so much light that I know that no nation in this world you keep me that I won’t prosper.

Now, I didn’t walk with the light of Bishop Oyedepo, I walk with my own light because you don’t use another man’s head lamp to drive your car. Church Gist. He said he cannot be poor, he discovered something. So I went for the truth; I labored and I’m at rest. If you want rest, labour in the word of God to enter into your rest.

• You will enter your own rest! Ecclesiastes 3:14. Whatsoever God doeth simply means whatsoever the Word doeth. Any miracle you encounter from God’s word will last forever. If you encounter a miracle by ‘they pray for you’ it can go. Church Gist. But you encounter any miracle by the revelation of God’s word, no devil can take it. That’s why people should settle with the word. But people don’t like that because when you’re teaching them the word they say this man is wasting time, I want quick quick quick.

Listen carefully, there’s no day maize will be as costly as cocoa. True? You know why? There’s no much labour to plant maize. Church Gist. Just dig small ground, even your back yard, you plant it. Cocoa takes time, but the yielding results are not the same. Maize after one season, you just sell it anyhow but cocoa will keep producing. There’s no day bicycle will be as expensive as aircraft. Church Gist. You can take one week to manufacture bicycle, you can’t take one week to manufacture air craft. So when you sit down to labour in the word, it may take your time but at the end, the result cannot match those who just want it fast fast.

2 Corinthians 13:8. Every result obtained by the truth can stand the test of time. The truth is simply the Word of God; you can’t do anything against the Word of God. Church Gist. John 10:10; John 17:17. Hear this and hear me well: Ignorance of God’s word is the reason many are stranded in life. Hosea 4:6; John 8:32. Your ignorance of the Word of God is the only effective weapon and enemy can use against you. Ignorance is very dirty. Destruction can only occur to the ignorant not demons, not enemies. Revelation 5:5. Church Gist. Weeping continues when you don’t open the book. Luke 10:38-42. The Word is the one thing that puts you in command of all other things. When you get the truth, nobody can take it away from you. Sit with the word and no devil can take it away from you. If you don’t have the word, anything can take it away from you. Activity is not equal to productivity; that you’re an usher does not make you to usher in things. Sit with the word. Church Gist. That you’re full of activity in Church does not make you that you’re productive in Church. I’m a sanctuary keeper; sit with the word. I’m an usher; sit with the word. Are you getting what God is saying?

Hebrews 10:7. The Bible is that volume of books; it is made up of 66 books and these 66 books contain 1, 189 chapters and everything about us is in this book. Church Gist. There’s nothing we are looking for that is not here. 2 Peter 1:3-4. There’s no gift of knowledge; there’s a gift of Word of Knowledge not knowledge. Knowledge is acquired. If you’re waiting for knowledge to jump on you, you will die. Imagine me sitting down to say, one day I will prosper. I would have been a poor pastor till today. ‘I know one day God will make me prosper’ that’s how some of you do. Those are religious stupid prayers; poverty will not leave if you don’t sit with the word. Sickness will not go except you encounter the word. It is the day you know the truth that you are free. I got up and said, ‘I hate to beg!’ Church Gist. Begging does not make you noble; you will lie when you want to beg. The last time you begged, didn’t you lie? It’s easier to commit sin in poverty. You will lie, you will quote the story somehow: you say, ‘somebody die for our family’ when nobody died. You say, ‘somebody died and this weekend, I just feel that I should go and see the family.’ All is a lie. ‘… you know, if I don’t go, they will think that I don’t like them, so I want to go.’ Then you now tell another lie again. ‘you know fuel has increased.’ You have to lie. You don’t need all that. 2 Peter 1:3-4. Church Gist. Do you want to partake of God’s divine nature? Sit with the word. God has called us to glory, honour, and virtue; not shame and reproach. But it will take delivery through knowledge to build your faith through God’s word. Say I hear!

Divine nature resides in the word; we partake of the divine nature from the word and when you are partaker of the divine nature, nothing is impossible with divine nature. Church Gist. Listen carefully: when COVID came, people were so afraid hope you know? Even men of God were afraid to shake people hope you know? Somebody worked in my office and was doing like this (demonstrates elbow greeting), I kept my hand in my pocket. You know in Igbo, this is how they greet; the whole world turned to Igbo greeting that period (demonstrates it). Igbo is a tribe in Nigeria; so the whole world accepted Igbo greeting that period, they use elbow. Till today, some people when they want to greet you, they are afraid. Somebody works in my office and wanted to greet me like that. I said, ‘I won’t greet you like that. For what?’ That time, if you sneeze, you are afraid. Church Gist. They even drew something with image (demonstrates) that it carries virus for COVID. True? The sneezing that you have been sneezing since you were born, that period if you sneeze, everybody will look around. When they fry pepper in your kitchen don’t you sneeze? But that period, if you sneeze, some people will jump up. People were so afraid that COVID will be transmitted through any means. Now, I was laughing. I didn’t assume, I just went to the word. You know the word does not mean you understand the word. Very simple Scripture every born again person even you, know that Scripture: John 3:16. When you’re born again what life do you have? Church Gist. What is everlasting life? God’s kind of life, Zoe. Can you have God’s kind of life and contact COVID? But you were afraid. Every born again person has His life; and His life forbids that natural life corrupts it. 2 Peter 1:4. So if my body touches a man who has any disease, I can’t contract it even if I have contact with him because I have eternal life by new birth. Do you understand what I’m saying? Yet somebody knows John 3:16 but does not understand the Scripture. Church Gist. So when you have the word, you possess His nature and when you possess His nature, you operate in the realm of faith and that makes all things possible. May you get to that realm! What I am saying is simply, ‘with God’s word in you, faith is easily provoked.’ So, go for the word because the word is the principal source of faith. Faith has only one source: the Word. Romans 10:17. So, with faith in God’s word all things are possible. Church Gist. The more committed you are to God’s word, the more of the proof producing faith you cultivate in your life.

Now listen carefully: Jesus, for instance, went to the house of Jairus. The Word walked in, death walked out (Mark 5:35). Church Gist. In the tomb of Lazarus, John 11:44, John 1:1-3,14, the Word of God is Jesus. When Jesus went into the places where death was, the situation was reversed. So, every time I encounter God’s word, there cannot be any irreversible case, I can reverse any situation. Listen carefully: Lazarus was dead 4 days and the word which is Jesus went into the tomb of Lazarus – decayed circumstance. Church Gist. When the Word got there, the Word had power to reverse that situation. So, even if they say your kidneys are backed up and you’re able to encounter the word, and His word enters your heart, it can reverse situation. Jesus, John 1:1-3, every where Jesus went things were turned. If I encounter the word, no matter how hopeless that case is, I can reverse it. Church Gist. There’s no case that can say, ‘it’s irreversible’ with the Word of God.

• Today, with God’s word, every closed case shall turn to a testimony!

All I need to do is to build my faith on the word and that Scripture can change any day, anytime, anywhere. Church Gist. So faith is the answer to impossible challenges with the Word of God; but faith rides on the Word of God.

Why you need to encounter the Word of God is this: one day I heard my mentor talking that he does not worry about material things. You know, when people share testimonies, don’t be carried away by their testimony. Church Gist. Go back to get revelation what they got. He said his secret is Matthew 6. Then I went back, and sat down with Matthew 6:25-33 so I know that if you are sold out to God, you will never lack material things; you are bound to stand out. I didn’t use his testimony to just get excited. I sat with the word and made Matthew 6:33 my focus. I’m standing before God, from 1997, I’ve never knelt down to say, ‘Lord I need money, I need house.’ It’s not in my prayer point but I have them and over have them. Church Gist. I built my faith on the word but someone has heard Matthew 6:33 and has never known what it means. When money comes I don’t think of myself first. I can never use money when I’ve not given God his own share. I must remove my tithe, my offering, before I tamper with any dime. So, I don’t need to bother myself to pray for things. Church Gist. I go for soul winning till tomorrow so I cannot be begging for bread and butter.

HOW TO PROVOKE FAITH WITH GOD’S WORD
1) Consciously go for depth: you need to cultivate an insatiable hunger for depth. Jesus was talking to a man called Peter in Luke 5:4. Church Gist. It is not volume of Scriptures you know that guarantees proofs; it is your depth in Scriptures and knowledge of God that commands proofs. Those who do know their God; not those who cram Scriptures. I was sick to the point of death, it was only one Scripture I came out of death with, Matthew 8:17. I didn’t cram plenty scriptures; I said if he took, then satan you are stupid to afflict me. It’s not I have 50 scriptures on healing; one Scripture brought me out. Church Gist. I meditated on the Scripture to a point I said, ‘sickness, get out of my body.’ Gaining the appropriate depth makes you command appropriate proofs.

For instance, if you have challenge in any area of your life, ask the Holy Spirit to help you locate the right word to overcome that challenge. Is that true? Church Gist. 2 Timothy 2:15. Invest time, give more time to the study of the word, listen to messages, read anointed books, commit yourself to a diligent search of the truth.

Let me share something with you: I wanted insight on something, I was studying last night. I slept exactly this morning, 10 minutes past 5am, that was when I went to bed. I was studying because midnight studies makes you more productive than day time. Church Gist. There are too many distractions in the day. Now, I was sitting on a Scripture (which I can’t tell you because it is not for you), I ate the Scripture to a point it became so real. Every area of your life you have challenge, sit down with the word. You can want to move from one level to another of wisdom for instance, move with the word to another level. Church Gist. Our problem is we are too busy running around, running after the wrong things. Locate scriptures, read scriptures, ponder on them, search it out until missing thing is found. Proverbs 24:13-14.

This Church was not growing the way it should grow. And I sat with the word; I saw that the builder of the Church is not me. The builder of the Church is Jesus (Matthew 16:18). So, I don’t ever say, ‘my Church’ you will never hear me say ‘my Church’ not even by mistake; I won’t say it. Church Gist. And I sat down and I saw that everywhere the owner went, crowd gathered. Bible said, ‘multitude, great multitude, innumerable multitude.’ (Matthew 19:2). So I said, ‘this is the owner, therefore he cannot own the Church and small people will come.’ Are you hearing me?

They told me a very funny story, on Sunday, fourth service, they said whatever record they gave us was not correct. They counted to a point some ushers could not count. This because they were counting and people were just moving like sardine. Church Gist. But the ushers confessed themselves there were people they did not count. And that was how they were going in the time of Jesus; when they say, ‘innumerable,’ that means they could not number again (Luke 12:1). Your business is not growing, sit down with the word. If Jesus was to be the one doing this business, will he owe everybody? You owe everywhere. You collected loan from bank, yet your business did not grow. You say, ‘no contract, it’s because I am not in APC and PDP.’ It’s a lie; it’s because you don’t know the word. When you keep failing, you look for excuses. ‘If I was to be in APC and Codine, I will win. If I was to be in PDP and PSC, I will win.’ It’s a lie; if you were to be in the word. Church Gist. Are there no losers in PDP and APC? Is it everybody that is winning? Inside the PDP, there’s PDP. Inside APC, there’s APC. People who are getting money out of those parties are very few. The rest majority, they even trample them when they are doing campaign. They die in stadium, nothing, 1,000. Don’t collect money all of you; because you don’t know the Word now, they give you 5,000 you go collect. If you collect money to vote, you’re Esau. You’re complete Esau, you sold your birthright. Church Gist. Don’t collect money, vote who your conscience tells you to vote. Poverty, don’t collect money. Okay, how much will somebody give you, when you eat today, won’t you eat tomorrow? Some of you are saying, ‘this man na him go give us money.’ If any man gives you money to vote him, he is not going to perform; because a man who will perform will not give you money. Church Gist. Anybody who gives you money to vote will never perform. First class students don’t sort. If you see a student sorting, he is naturally a dull student. So, anybody paying money is a dull leader who will not perform. Shout halleluyah!
