The spotlight came on Prisicilla Shirer in 2015 after the release of the hit Christian movie ‘War Room’. As a result of her outstanding act, more people have researched to know the real person behind the Character ‘Elizabeth Jordan’ in the movie, whose amazing role captivated the hearts of fans.
Behind the screen and fame of an actress, Priscilla Shirer is a minister, motivational speaker, mother of three and wife to Jerry Shirer and together, they host the ‘Going Beyond Ministries’, an outreach event designed to encourage and mobilize women locally. This free gathering brings together thousands of women from different denominations and backgrounds in an effort to stir revival. Going Beyond Ministries also equips believers through books and Bible study resources. You can catch any of the Going Beyond Ministries’ live sessions on YouTube. Priscilla owns a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies, she sees her ministerial gift as a privilege to reveal God’s Scriptural truth to many.
Asides her ministry and passion for women, Priscilla has spread the Gospel to Young adults, Children and Teenagers. In 2016, she took on a task not so easy as she ventured into Children’s publishing through the release of the book ‘Prince Warriors’ designed to equip young boys and girls for Spiritual Warfare. She has authored and produced written and video content to inspire people. Some of her books are titled; Discerning the Voice of God, The Armor of God and Awaken amongst many other published resources, Bible Study guides and Devotionals. She is a New York Times Best Selling Author.
Priscilla has featured in other movies titled; Overcomer, Be Still, and I Can only Imagine.
In an interview featured on the Joyce Meyer Ministries YouTube Channel, Priscilla revealed how she didn’t plan on being a minister, even though she came from a background where her parents were pastors. She tried to go the opposite direction of getting into ministry but God always had a way of pointing her towards her ordained path.
Talking about sacrifices and letting go of our chosen path for ourselves to yield to the demands of the Holy Spirit, Priscilla shared how she had to leave a relationship she was in (which she prayed to work out) before she found her husband. She said,
‘One of the things I am most grateful for is for unanswered prayers because if God gives us half the stuff we beg him for, we will be shortening and lessening the beauty of the miracles God wants to do in our lives. In so many ways, yes I have taken a diversion of the path I had charted out for myself but I don’t look at any of those things and wish that I had them or long for them because the life God has given, the journey God has given doesn’t mean that it is without challenge, it just means that His Favour and His Grace is upon our lives through the challenges so that He is strengthening us through those challenges’.
Her chat during the interview about feeling insecure, intimidated and unprepared to do the work God had placed in her hands and her later success, shows to a large extent that whoever God sends, He equips. Priscilla warns against distraction as she says that if the devil can’t destroy you, he tries to distract you from your real identity.
Priscilla Shirer continues to spread the Gospel of Christ, transforming and redirecting many unto Christ.
