THE REASON I DO NOTHING EVEN WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ATTACK ME
WHEN GOD FIGHTS FOR YOU, HE WILL DO A CLEAN JOB AND NOBODY WILL BE ABLE TO ACCUSE YOU
IT’S EITHER YOU ARE FOR JESUS CHRIST OR YOU ARE AGAINST HIM – THERE’S NO NEUTRALITY
IT IS DANGEROUS FOR ANOINTED MEN OF GOD TO FIGHT EACH OTHER – GOD WILL BE NEUTRAL
WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, YOU WILL WIN
WHEN GOD IS FIGHTING FOR YOU, IT IS BETTER THAN WHEN HE IS BACKING YOU
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN FLY AT NIGHT AGAINST THE CHILDREN OF GOD, GOD WILL THROW YOU BOMBS
DON’T GO TO WAR WHEN YOU KNOW GOD MIGHT BE NEUTRAL; YOU CAN’T WIN
DON’T JOKE WITH GOD! HE CAN TURN A KING TO A MAD MAN
GOD CAN FIGHT YOU WITH THE WATER YOU DRINK
GOD CAN BLOCK YOUR WAY USING WATER; ASK PHARAOH AND HIS HOST
YOU CAN’T FIGHT AGAINST GOD AND WIN
IF YOU HAVE MADE UP YOUR MIND THAT YOU WILL PERSECUTE THE CHURCH OF GOD, YOU ARE IN DANGER
LONG AFTER THE ENEMIES OF GOD ARE GONE AND FORGOTTEN, HIS CHILDREN WILL STILL BE MARCHING ON
IF YOU ARE FIGHTING AGAINST GOD’S PEOPLE THEN YOU ARE FIGHTING AGAINST GOD
NEVER FIGHT AGAINST GOD BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT WIN
YOU HAVE NO STRENGTH AGAINST THE ONE WHO IS CALLED THE ALMIGHTY
  • Pastor E. A. Adeboye on “FOR WHOM THE HEAVENS OPEN (Part 54)” || RCCG Online Sunday Service || 25th August, 2024

We’ve come to part 54 in our series on, “THE ONE TO WHOM THE HEAVENS OPEN” and as you know, we’ve been using Joshua as our case study and then somewhere along the way we came across Caleb. Luke we learnt last Sunday, one of the biggest lessons we learnt from Caleb is that he is the man who asked for mountain and got it. Church Gist. We want to round up our section on Caleb not that there isn’t much to learn but we want to learn just one thing more from Caleb before we move forward. We have been using as our text, Joshua 14:6-14. I will ask you to read the passage yourself as I will just focus on Joshua 14:12-14. I will focus again on verse 12 because there we will pick another lesson. “…if so be the Lord will be with me…” The remaining verses just told us that, yes, he did possess the mountain.

There are some very deep lessons here. I wish that we still have much much time to discuss Caleb because if we look at verse 13 you will see how Joshua blessed him. That’s a big story in itself because here we have two colleagues and here you now have one blessing the other. Church Gist. You have two colleagues and Joshua was chosen instead of Caleb to take over from Moses, etcetera. Whatever I can’t cover, the Holy Spirit will tell you. “…If God be with me, I will win.” Here we are learning some very serious lessons:

  1. Never fight against God because you will not win if you do so because you have no strength against the one who is called the Almighty. Psalm 91:1. Almighty means the one who has all strength. So how strong are you that you want to call God to a fight? Church Gist. You can’t fight against the one who is called the Lord of Hosts. Psalm 24:7-10. I believe God is talking to someone in particular, someone who today right now listening to me is angry with God and wants to fight him.

You can’t fight against God and win because he is the Lord of Hosts. “Oh, who told you I am fighting against God? I can’t even see him.” Oh well, if you’re fighting against his people, then you are fighting against him. You don’t believe me, all you need to do is read Acts 9:1-43. Church Gist. So if you’re one of those who have made up your mind that you will persecute the Church of God, you’re in danger. You can’t fight against God and win – it’s not possible. Philippians 2:9-11. Sooner or later, your knees will bow to him either voluntarily or compulsorily. I can tell you several stories on that only I do not have enough time.

You can’t fight against God and win because the very ground on which you are standing belongs to him. Psalm 24:1; Judges 5:4. He can tell the ground you’re walking upon to open its mouth and swallow you. Numbers 16:1-33. Long after the enemies of God are gone and forgotten, his children will still be marching on. Church Gist. He made it clear: “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Stop fighting against God, you can’t win. There is a saying that, if you know you can’t defeat them, join them. Instead of fighting against God, come to the side of God.

He can fight you with water. When you go through the Scriptures, through Exodus, you will find that once upon a time he changed water to blood. They have to beg him before he changed the blood back to water when the Egyptians were almost dying of thirst. Church Gist. You can’t fight him. He can fight you with the water you drink. Some of you will remember the story of a time when I was at the University of Lagos as a lecturer and one of my students had this little problem of body odour. That whenever he is sitting by you within 5 minutes you will relocate because he smells like a dead body. The doctors have tried everything, he used all manners of drugs but things kept getting worse. Finally, he came to me for prayers and God told me he has restitution to make.

I found out that he was a teacher in a primary school before he came to the University and the children were contributing penny penny – it was in those days of kobos, pounds and pennies. Before the end of the year when the children were going to have a party with their money, he gained admission to the University and left with the children’s money. The children came back to the school to discover the teacher had gone with their money. Church Gist. They reported him to God, “God, you know where this teacher is now, he ran away with our money.” I told him God said, go and restitute. He went back, he restituted, paid back the money giving them a shilling each instead of a penny, came back and I was about to pray for him and God said, “there’s no need now, just tell him to stop drinking ice water for 2 weeks.” He stopped drinking ice water and he became completely whole. God can fight you with the water you drink. We’re not talking about an ordinary person, we’re talking about the one whose name is the consuming fire.

He can block your way by using water. Jonah 1; ask Pharaoh and his host. Exodus 14:21-28. Church Gist. You can’t fight against God and win.

He can fight you from the air. So if you think you can fly at night, against the children of God, when you read Joshua 10:10-11, you will know that God was the first person to throw bombs. Church Gist. Don’t fight with God.

He can fight you with rain. Amos 4:7-8; Deuteronomy 32:39. If God is fighting against you, who is going to come to your rescue? Church Gist. He can fight with worms. Acts 12:20-25. Don’t joke with God. Of course you know Daniel 4:28-37, you will find that he can turn a king to a mad man.

But there’s something much deeper than that. Don’t go to war when you know God might be neutral. Many at times, one child of God is trying to fight against another child of God. Do you know on whose side he is? Church Gist. There are two of you, both of you are his children and now you want to fight and God becomes neutral. You can’t win when God is neutral. When God is neutral, you can’t handle the devil. 1 Peter 5:8; James 4:7.

I’ve told you before: I said my daddies used to tell me that when the lion wakes up in the morning, the prayer he prays is: God show me the animal I will eat today and leave the two of us alone. Don’t help me, don’t help the animal. Church Gist. Just leave the two of us alone. If the devil ever prays and he cries to God and says, show me the Christian I will destroy today and leave the two of us alone, you know what the result will be. The devil is older than you and he has destroyed quite a lot of great people before. When God departs from anybody, that fellow is finished. If God is neutral, you can’t go far. Judges 16:4-21.

  • I pray for everyone of you today, may the Almighty God never depart from you!

When God is neutral, the enemy will finish the rest of the story. When God departs, there’s nothing you can do to succeed. If God is neutral, don’t fight. Church Gist. That’s why it is dangerous for even one anointed man of God to fight another anointed man of God. Both of you are anointed and God says, “okay you want to fight? I leave the two of you alone. I won’t take sides.”

That brings us to another important point and that is: if God be with us, ah! …Then you will win because that’s what Caleb said here (our text). Exodus 3:7-12; Joshua 1:1-9; 1 Samuel 17:34-51. Church Gist. When God is with you, you will win. So before you go to any battle, make sure that you are not fighting against God, that God is not neutral – that you have God with you.

But then as you know, at least for the purpose of reminding you, there is something better than God backing you in a fight and that is, him doing the fighting for you. Romans 8:31. If he is the one doing the fighting for you…(Laughs) You will just be by the side watching him demolishing the enemy. Church Gist. You will just be by the side cheering him on and say, “give it to him Lord.” Romans 8:37; Exodus 14:10-28. God will fight for you and at the end of the day, the enemies they saw, they never saw again because God fought for them. 2 Chronicles 20:1-25.

Several times people have asked (me), “when you see so many people attacking you right, left and centre, why don’t you do something?” It’s better to let God do the fighting. Church Gist. When God fights for you, he will do the job in a very clean way so that nobody will be able to accuse you of damaging anybody. Let God do the fighting. 2 Kings 7:1-20. Do you know one of the reasons we keep on shouting hallelujah? It’s that as we shout the hallelujah to God, he will pick it up in Heaven and turn his mighty loudspeaker so that the enemy can hear a noise. When they hear a noise, they flee. Remember it is written, “Let God arise and his enemies will scatter.” Church Gist. Let God do your fighting. Or at very very least, be sure he is with you as you’re doing the fighting.
My prayer for you is that from now on, the God who is the Lord of Hosts, the Almighty, the owner of the Earth and the fullness there of, the one who made the ocean, the controller of rain, the one who makes sure there is water for you to drink will be on your side. He will fight your battles for you and your victory will be absolute!

If you know that there is a God who can do this fighting for you, how can you expect him to be fighting for you when you’re against him? Mark 9:38-40. There is no neutrality in this situation you know, it’s either you’re for Jesus Christ or you are against him. You can’t say, “I’m neutral. I’m not a Christian but I am not against Christians. Church Gist. I am not for Christ but I am not against him.” There’s no way you can be neutral. It’s either you’re for him or you’re against him. If you’re against him, you have a problem but if you’re for him, you can become more than conqueror.
