Service and stewardship is a key to all good things. Why are you standing idle all the time? God is against idleness. In His kingdom, He’s against idleness. Why are you coming to church continuously and still idle? Church Gist. God is against it. Find something and do for your maker. God works on you that you might work for Him. That’s why He works for you.
Please, lift your hands this day, “Lord, help me to be busy for you, help me”. “I want to be busy for you, please help me”. “I don’t want to be too busy for you, help me to be busy on your assignments”. Church Gist. Thank you Jesus, bless us as your Words go forth. Every package of good things you have for your people today, let it be delivered accordingly, let it be delivered without delay, in the name of Jesus. Someone’s healing shall be delivered today, someone’s breakthrough shall arrive now, someone’s open door is coming now, someone’s multiple job testimony is breaking forth now, someone’s good news shows up right now. We vow to give you all the glory, in Jesus’ mighty name we have prayed. Clap your hands and give God a shout of Hallelujah.
All good things by service and stewardship. All good things by service, be engaging kingdom service and stewardship. Church Gist. All good things by undertaking Kingdom service and stewardship. Deuteronomy 28:47. Serving with joyfulness and gladness will deliver to you the abundance of all things. That right there is incontrovertible proof that engaging in kingdom service will usher in all good things. Exodus 23:25-27, your expectations will not miscarry, your hopes will not be aborted, you will not die young. That is all round victory and triumph. Church Gist. But, what will you do? You shall serve the Lord, your God. Now, take note of this, having God as your God does not guarantee all good things. It is serving God who is your God that guarantees all good things. Church Gist. “Father, you’re my God, how can I see shame?” You will see shame if you’re not serving Him.
Having God as your God is not enough, you shall serve that God that you say is your God. Exodus 23:25a, It is serving Him that guarantees the flow of all good things. Belonging to God does not guarantee all good things, it is serving the God that you say you belong to. So, child of God, are you serving God? Church Gist. That’s the key. Are you serving Him or you just belong to him? Are you serving Him or you’re just His child? Exodus 23:25. Church Gist. That is what you’re to do, and He shall bless you. Take note, God blesses those who engage in Kingdom service with all good things.
Look at Malachi 3, another scripture because you must be persuaded beyond any satanic argument that as a child of God, you must be busy serving God. It’s a must. Malachi 3:14. Serving God takes a lot of discipline, it takes a lot of sacrifices. Church Gist. That is what some people call punishment, some people call stress. It takes a lot of routine, it takes a lot of consistency, it takes a lot of discipline, that’s what some people call “mourning”. “What is the profit?” Now, it’s as if those who are too proud to serve God are the ones that look happy. Friends, I envy no sinner, it doesn’t enter my eyes. I’m not interested, I’m not impressed.
Somebody met me once, in a VIP lounge or something, he said, ” so so person over there, do you know him?”, I said, “does he know me?”, That was my reply. He shut his mouth with such speed. Church Gist. “Does he know me?” I’m an ambassador of the Most High. If I have no place in His world, He has no place in my world. He doesn’t exist in my universe.
- May God not withdraw His favour from your life from the way you carry unbelievers who have no reverence for God. Please, be careful, God is a jealous God.
We are not of this world. Pilate said, “Jesus, are you a king?” Jesus said, “are you saying so by yourself or they told you?” Church Gist. Kai, what a humbling reply. Pilate said, “what concerns me? It’s your people that brought you here to me”. Jesus said, “listen, you’d have no power over me except it was given to you from above”, and he didn’t answer him again. Church Gist. Pilate said, “you don’t answer me, so, are you a king then?” Jesus said, “my kingdom is not of this world, if it was of this world, my servants will fight” that is, every reply threw the man (Pilate) off balance. Glory to God.
Stop being over-impressed. Do you know the way some so-called children of God carry unbelievers’ things on their head? It just stinks of this world. “I must rush home now, the show is about to come up”. A show? Church Gist. No wonder you have nothing to show for serving God. He’s a jealous God. Stop calling the proud, “happy”, pride is not happiness. Stop calling sinful people happy people. Malachi 3:15. I cannot see the promotion of any unbeliever. I don’t see it, I tell you the truth. I’m more interested in how credible was the process. Church Gist. “He’s doing well for himself”, I’m not interested. Explain to me why a billionaire will choose to live in the bush, in the mountains and be sponsoring people to blow themselves up, if you think money is everything. He’s staying in the mountains of Afghanistan and is sending billions, paying people to go and blow themselves up. Okay, why is he not living in Dubai? Church Gist. Why is he not paying for a suite in Burj Arab. He’s a billionaire with oil well, but he has chosen to live his life for a cause and he doesn’t miss whatever you’re talking about. Why are you carrying this thing on your head as if when you die, you’ll carry it with you. Why? Okay, assuming you were the richest man in the world now, what will you buy? Okay, what has the richest man in the world bought? Church Gist. Does he have a house in every city in the world? So, why do you think that having a house in every major city in Nigeria is an achievement? Is it that your life has no value, you have no focus, there’s nothing else you see. Okay, the richest man in the world, does he have up to 100,000 cars? Church Gist. But, he can afford it. Does he have up to 100 aeroplanes? But he can afford it.
It is poor people that kill themselves trying to look rich. It is inferior people that pride themselves in some other person’s achievement and glory. Church Gist. “I took a picture with so so so, he’s my star” it’s because your life has no star, that’s why you need him to be your star. Your life is in darkness. Let your life be about the Kingdom of God. John 4:34. It’s either you’re like Christ or you’re not like Christ. One time, we were in the business class of some international airline, and somebody was like, “oh man of God, pleased to meet you. Church Gist. Man of God, are you aware that so so person is at the other side of the business class?” I said, “wow, that’s awesome, but is he aware I’m here?” Because, if anything is to happen to that plane, it is not him God will consider, it is me, God will consider, with all humility. That is, if the engine of that plane shuts down now, all of his accolades, positions and possessions won’t help him, but I have something that can help everybody. Church Gist. So, in a realm where the currency of money has failed, there are heavier currencies.
- Help me tell 5 people, “wake up and start serving God”. Connection and family background will fail one day, get us and start serving God. Position will fail one day, certificate will fail one day, get up, and start serving God.
You must value the things of the kingdom above the things of this world. Church Gist. One day, things of this world will fail, beauty does not help when sickness knocks on your door. I’ve received prayer request for beauty queens. The picture before sickness came and the beauty after sickness came, one of them was so heartbreaking and so sad. Please, friends, hook up your life with this God. “Order my steps in your Word”. When you hear them mocking that it doesn’t pay to serve God, when you hear them saying there’s no use serving God, listen to what God said in Malachi 3:16-17. Church Gist. The son that serves Him is entitled to some benefits than the son who does not serve Him cannot access. So, it’s not enough to just be His son, you must be a son that serves Him. Don’t just be His daughter, be a daughter that serves Him.
- Shout, “I will serve the Lord”.
Malachi 3:18. By direct inferences, he that serves God is called the righteous, him that serveth God not, is called the wicked. Church Gist. The child of God that is not serving God is wicked. Wicked to the God who has been good to you, wicked to the God who has shown you mercy. Wicked to the God who rescued you when you were hopeless. Church Gist. The child of God that is not serving God is wicked.
- None of us shall be wicked in Jesus’ name.
We have seen it in Deuteronomy 28:47, Exodus 23:25-27, Malachi 3:14-20. Is there anybody in doubt that serving God will lead to all good things? There’s no job benefit that equals that. There’s no salary that equals that.
- Tell your neighbour, “God pays well”
What is kingdom service and stewardship? It means the engagement of your spirit, soul and body in promoting God’s kingdom work on earth. Hallelujah. You engage your spirit, soul, body, time, talent, energy, effort and your resources in promoting and advancing God’s kingdom work on earth. Church Gist. That’s what it is. It is the deployment of the best of you in overseeing the affairs of God’s house and kingdom. You deploy the best of time, your efforts, your energy, your resources, the best of your goodwill, your heart in overseeing the advancement of God’s kingdom assignment. You deploy the best of you and not what is left of you. Church Gist. Not the leftover, the best, the best of you in overseeing the advancement of the affairs of God’s kingdom and house. You oversee its advancement, “it must advance as long as I’m here, it must advance as long as I’m alive, it must advance and keep going forward”, you oversee its advancement.
You’re not there and it is stagnated and helpless; everything is abandoned and you’re there, No! You oversee its advancement with the best of you.
- may you be like that in Jesus’ name.
The bible is full of examples of people who stood out by their addiction to Kingdom service. Abraham is one of them. Psalm 105:42. Church Gist. Can you have a servant and not know? How many people brag about a bad servant? Who brags about a heartbreaking servant? In fact, when your friend mentions a bad servant, you say, “forget that one”, is that not so? It is a good servant you talk about long after he has gone. - may God remember you like that.
That’s how much Abraham was a good servant to God that long after he has gone, God is still bragging about him. - may you stand out by addiction to Kingdom service. Don’t be too big, don’t become too busy, too promoted. You say, “I’m now married”, don’t become too married to serve God. Don’t become too fruitful to serve God, too much of a parent to serve God. Church Gist. You will say, ” is it not Papa that said we should be taking care of our homes, what can I do? I have to take care of my home”, you will soon see maggot come of that thing. You know, when you take manna away from God’s presence, what happens? The same beautiful manna for no reason, terrible things start coming out if it. That’s when I realized that the blessing of God requires constant connection with God to be preserved. So, the blessing maketh rich and addeth no sorrow. If not, sorrow will break out of it. Church Gist. Out of that marriage, job, sorrow will come.
Listen to me, there’s no relationship that is sorrow-proof. Only God can keep sorrow away. Isaiah 51:1-2. You can’t be a servant of God and not be increased by God.
David is another example. Psalm 89:20. The man died in active service, he lived to serve Him. Church Gist. Children of God, servants are few. Church attenders are many, genuine servants are few. Psalm 89:20-29. Who can you serve that will guarantee this kind of package? No man. People use you not because they love but because they need you, they see in you what can be used. They see in you a person that has made himself available to be used. The heart of man is in God’s hands, only God can keep a man faithful to you as you’ve been faithful to Him. Church Gist. Fix your eyes on God. You’ve seen the example of Abraham, you’ve seen the example of David.
- your life shall be the next as you serve God faithfully in Jesus’ name.
Notes about Kingdom service and stewardship and if you read Luke 12:42-48 and Mathew 25:14-30, you’ll see this we’re talking about here. Church Gist. Luke 12:42-48, take note of the following things there;
- Every child of God has been called to serve God. Like 1:74. So, we’re to serve Him once we have been delivered from sin, once we have been delivered from Satan. Nobody should wait for a special assignment, no, we’re all immediately recruited into serving God.
- Service and stewardship as assigned by God and rendered unto God, not man. Don’t see it as a man assigned it to you, see it as assigned by God and rendered unto God. Church Gist. That is why no man should be able to discourage you from serving God. No man ought to be your reason for discontinuing your service to God. It is assigned by God and it is rendered by God. Luke 12:41. So, whatever area of service that God is giving you in His house, see it as assigned by God and is to be rendered unto God.
I realized that when God makes your name great, no man can unmake it, and if God doesn’t make your name great, if you like, do all you want to do, you can’t make your own name great.
- This day, I decree the end of all limitations have come in Jesus’ name!
- Service and stewardship is to be rendered promptly in due season and not as we wish. Church Gist. Luke 12:48
- Service and stewardship is to be rendered personally as assigned by God and not delegated to other. “I told so so to stand in for me”, nobody stood in for you, they just took your crown. Church Gist. You cannot delegate the King’s service, you can’t delegate the King’s duty. Royal duties are not delegated. It’s not your colleague you’re serving. It’s to be rendered as assigned and not delegated to others. Luke 12:43, It is that servant that He assigned that He wants to find, not another servant. He doesn’t want to find another person standing in for you, He wants to find you doing as you were assigned. Church Gist. So, we strive to make sure that we’re doing as we were assigned. You can’t delegate to another, it’s not possible. You cannot be represented, you render it personally.
- Our Stewardship and service should never slack or decline in Godly quality, charity or character. The character, quality, the love with which we do it must be maintained. It shouldn’t slack or decline. Luke 12:45. Church Gist. Do you know that many people do not really know what is blocking their blessing? This your leaving church to go and be eating during service is really the problem of your life. Luke 12:46.
- may your service quality never slack.
Take note of this, the Lord will surely return to demand account and to examine our service. Don’t forget it all your life. Luke 12:46. The only way to guarantee my reward is that I must be at my duty post in season and out of season. Will He come? Sure. Church Gist. Will He reward those who did well? YES, He will make him ruler. Will He judge those who didn’t do well? Yes, He will. Hallelujah.
Kinds of services and stewardship
- In-house physical service through service units, different groups. Psalm 122:1-2. In-house service. Service by physical presence and participation. Church Gist. It’s not by taking excuse, it’s by physical presence and participation through service groups and units.
- Outreach stewardship and service. Matthew 28:19-20. Like what we’re going to do during victory march, preaching the gospel inside the taxi, inside the tricycle, sharing the handbills, making sure you invite people to Church from your office. Church Gist. All of that is outreach stewardship and service. Make sure you’re actively engaged in it. Followup of the souls that have been brought to church. You assign people to follow up, you take it up seriously
- Spiritual Stewardship and service. Praying and fasting for the church, for the brethren. Luke 2:36-37. Serving God in fasting and prayers. Church Gist. Making sure you don’t miss fasting and prayers, making sure you schedule personal fasting and prayers, making sure you’re present to participate.
- Gifts and talents stewardship and service. Serving God with your gifts and talents. Luke 19:12-13.
- Financial stewardship and service. Serving God with your resources, money, serving God with what you have. Using your resources to build God’s house. Exodus 25:1-2, Zechariah 1:17. Church Gist. Through prosperity, you make sure that you’re actively serving the Lord.
In conclusion, God is not a user of people but a blesser of people.
Second conclusion; how we serve affects how we are blessed, therefore, serve well.
Third conclusion; the blessings of Kingdom service and stewardship is far greater than the labour of service unto God. Therefore, serve joyfully, faithfully and tirelessly. Church Gist. Serve joyfully, with gladness, serve faithfully in season and out of season, serve tirelessly, don’t let anything make you stop, don’t let anything make you call off your service. Deuteronomy 28:47.
Stand to your feet. Don’t let anything make you tired of serving God. Oh, look at that beautiful list in David’s life in Psalm 89 from verse 20. Church Gist. Maybe I was mentioning it so fast, the truth is that all of them are there. Claim them bit it’s only for the person that will serve joyfully, faithfully and tirelessly. I can never be discouraged from pastoring anybody. It’s not possible. It’s a revelation. I never come to serve God carrying unhappiness from what a church member did or didn’t do, no way, because the blessing of serving God is far greater than the labour of serving God. Church Gist. I don’t notice what people do when it comes to serving God, I don’t, and I want you to come to that realm.
Lift your hands and give him praise.

Mary said, “Be unto me”, everything changed. “Lord, I embrace Kingdom service, I can never serve you and be stranded, never” and everything will change for you. If you stand and look around, you’re the one that finished yourself. You can’t delegate, you respond personally.
PRAYERS: Please with all of your heart, say;
“Father, thank you for the opportunity to serve you, I embrace the mandate of Kingdom service, I cannot serve you and be stranded, I cannot serve you and be ashamed, I cannot serve you and lack good things, I will serve the Lord”.
“As I serve the Lord, every blessing and benefit of Kingdom service answers to me”. Say, “it shall be so in my life”. Amen.
Say, “I receive grace to faithfully and diligently go through all requirements of Kingdom service”. Do you know that anybody you see as a doctor today went through the requirements? 8 years medical school training, different levels of residency, all the different accreditation exams into consultancy, faithfully.
Lift your hands and say, “I receive grace to serve God physically, spiritually, with my gifts and talents, with my resources, I will pay my tithe faithfully, I am serving God, I am advancing His kingdom in season and out of season”. Now shout the loudest Amen.
