IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE BY THE WORD WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD
LIVING BY THE WORD OF GOD MEANS LIVING OR OPERATING THE AFFAIRS OF ONE’S LIFE IN CONFORMITY WITH THE WORD OF GOD

Luke 1:26-28
- In the sixth month was good news that came to her. This month, you will not just be favoured but highly favoured in the name of Jesus!
- You will hear the kind of news you have never heard! Someone will hear good news this month!
- God will never leave any of us in the name of Jesus!
- Among the multitudes, I pronounce you blessed!
The month is the wonders of His Word. Today’s message is LIVING BY THE WORD OF GOD-PART ONE. The most powerful book on Earth is the Bible. If you enter any public place for instance, a restaurant, drop an encyclopedia, nobody will look; drop any dictionary, nobody will look; just drop the Bible on your dining table everybody will turn. Church Gist. That’s how powerful it is. It is the oldest book and the best seller on Earth. Till tomorrow it still remains the best and highest seller on Earth.
What is living by the Word? Living by the Word means to be ruled by the Word of God. It is bringing your life into submission to the Word. Church Gist. It can also be defined as living or operating the affairs of one’s life in conformity with the Word of God.
Why should we live by the Word of God?
1) The Word of God can solve every problem, challenge in your life: it is the manual for solving all problems. Every solution for success is in God’s Word; for instance, there’s nothing you are going through that does not have an answer in this book because there is no temptation that is not common to man (1 Corinthians 10:13). I will give examples:
a) The Word of God can destroy sickness and disease: Psalm 107:20. God’s Word has power to destroy sickness and today, every sick will be healed. Church Gist. Exodus 15:26; Proverbs 4:20-22. Do you know if you feed on God’s Word it will be difficult for you to be sick?
b) The Word of God can expose any wrong teaching, doctrine that has entered your life: It is the only way to expose falsehood. Psalm 119:142; John 17:17. Without God’s Word falsehood will come. If you don’t live by the Word, somebody can tell you something and you believe it. He said, “My pastor said” not what the Bible said. A pastor can give a wrong doctrine that’s why you must live by the Word because it will break every deception. For instance there was a time they said a woman died, I don’t know how truthful it is, in Nigeria and they said she woke up and said nobody should wear earring, that wearing earring will make you go to hell. How many of you heard that story? Church Gist. It was demonic, satanic and not of God but people believed it, even men and women of God stopped wearing jewelleries that a woman went to Heaven and came back. This is because they don’t read the Bible. There are some doctrines that are demonic. I’ve heard somebody preach, I turned off my television, that once you are saved, even your brothers who are dead are saved in the name of grace teaching. I turned off my television I said this is a wrong doctrine, it is heresy. If you don’t live by the Word they can tell you, “drive your wife. That is the Bible. Bible said drive every woman that is stubborn.” Have you not seen people who give wrong doctrines, very false teachings, teachings that contradicts the Word of God. That’s why you must live by the Word. It will break every falsehood, it will expose it. Even if it’s you that is thinking it, you too will know that this thing you are doing here is wrong.
c) The Word of God guarantees true peace: Psalm 85:8; John 14:27. You want true peace, you find it in the Word of God.
d) The Word of God will make you enjoy rest and pleasure in life: God’s presence guarantees rest and pleasures. Church Gist. When you obey God’s Word you will enjoy rest and pleasure in life. Exodus 33:14. God’s presence will not go with you if you do not be a doer and carrier of the Word. Psalm 16:11.
- From today, may pressure leave your life forever.
Matthew 11:28-29. When you say Holy Ghost bring everything to my remembrance, it’s what you have read; that’s why you should be reading the Bible. He will not bring to remembrance what you don’t know. It’s what you have read and you forgot, He will now remind you.
e) You enjoy supernatural lifting and all round blessing: to enjoy supernatural lifting and all round blessing, living by the Word is the master key that unlocks the blessings of God. James 1:22-25. Do you want to be blessed, settle with the Word of God. Church Gist. Deuteronomy 28:1-2,13. The moment Peter was frustrated, (Luke 5:4-7) and he cast the net, it says, he could not, he had a boat sinking encounter because he obeyed the Word. His blessing came because he hearkened to the Word. Isaiah 1:19.
f) Your inheritance is in the Word: Acts 20:32. Your inheritance is not in nations, it is not in a company, it is in the Word and that’s why you need to live by the Word.
SOME SIGNS THAT SHOW YOU ARE LIVING BY THE WORD
1) You will love to hear, read and study His Word: 2 Timothy 2:15. If you don’t like to study the Bible, you are somebody who does not live by the Word. Church Gist. When they preach, it irritates you, then, watch it. 1 Timothy 4:13. How many like reading the Bible? If you don’t like reading the Bible, you are not living by the Word. Job 23:12. If you don’t like reading the Word, something is wrong.
2) You will love to meditate, observe and do His Word: Joshua 1:8. Psalm 1:1-3. Deuteronomy 5:32. Matthew 7:24. James 1:25. If you like to meditate on God’s Word, you like to do God’s Word, then, you are somebody living by the Word.
3) You will receive and believe His Word: Acts 17:11-12. We are in a generation where people don’t receive God’s Word. They say, I have my opinion, that’s the generation we are in. You say God’s Word says so; they say you can go with your Word, this is my opinion. Every time you get to that point, you are not living by the Word because when His Word comes, our opinion is suspended. If you know you are living by the Word of God, whatever God says is the final authority. Church Gist. It is impossible to live by the Word without the knowledge of the Word. Hosea 4:6. So you cannot live by what you do not know, you can only live by the Word of God if you know the truth. Grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and commit yourself to doing what you know. Don’t remain at the same level forever, shift from where you are to another level. Having knowledge of the Word without doing it is a waste. Some of us we have knowledge but we don’t do what we know. We know all the scriptures but we don’t practice any of the Scriptures. Some people know so much but do a little and so, nothing to show for their Christianity. If you keep quoting and you don’t do what you quote there will be no reflection of it. True? You say love your wife, submit to your husband, pay your tithe, and then you are not doing any of them will it show? Honour your father and thy mother it will be well with you but everybody you see, you insult. Church Gist. You know, we are in a generation where children don’t respect parents that is why the calamities in this generation, they are too many. You even hear people say, “who is he? We are all equal.” Your father and you will never be equal. There’s no day your parents will be equal with you. Bible says, “honour thy father and thy mother that it may be well with thee.” If you don’t honour them it will never be well with you. Every time you are saying leave the Bible alone, you are saying Satan take over because Bible is our supreme authority. This is the constitution of Heaven, it’s the manual for living. Every time you are saying drop the Bible, you are saying drop God because this is God. If I tell you to do something and you don’t do it, you have disrespected me. True? Every time you say I don’t believe the Bible you are disrespecting God. Church Gist. That you do not see Him does not mean that He does not exist and we know He must be respected. Make God’s Word your standard for living. Above everything we have said in this first service, if you are living by the Word, whatever you and I do, we must make sure we make Heaven. Mark 8:36-37. Making Heaven is the ultimate goal of life of every child of God. 1 Corinthians 9:27 (MSG)
- Say at the end of my chapter, at old age, I will not miss out of Heaven in the name of Jesus.
So, you have now known if you are living by the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4:15-16.

- Holy Spirit, ignite in me an undying passion to live by the Word of God and to live for God.
