Joseph Prince is an Evangelist, Author, Renowned Teacher of the Word and Senior Pastor of the New Creation Church based in Singapore, Asia. Born and named Joseph Xenonamandar Jegahusiee Singh Prince, he was born on the 15th of May, 1963 to the family of a Priest of Indian origin and a Chinese mother and attended primary school in Petal, Malaysia. He studied at Commonwealth Secondary School and completed his A levels at a private school, Our Lady of Lourdes. He changed his name to Joseph Prince while working as an IT professional before his appointment as Senior Pastor in 1990. In 1994, he got married to Wendy Prince.
Joseph Prince is one of the founders of the New Creation Church. Founded in 1983, he first served as an elder and associate pastor before he was appointed the Senior Pastor. A highly sought after conference speaker who is regarded as the leading voice of the Grace revolution in this generation, Joseph’s unanimous appointment as Senior Pastor in 1990 caused a tremendous growth to the Church from a congregation of 150 to over 30,000. While still a young believer, Joseph revealed that he didn’t take the communion because he felt he was unworthy but now, it is something he takes daily after the Lord opened his eyes to how He has made it so easy for everyone to receive the divine health that Jesus has paid for believers to enjoy.
Joseph’s ministry as pastor, teacher, conference speaker and author continues to transform many lives, setting people free from the heavy yoke of the law, guilt and condemnation by pointing them to Jesus and His finished work at Calvary. He is known for teaching God’s Word in a fresh, practical and revelatory way that always unveils Jesus. His humorous, dynamic and engaging style of preaching on grace and forgiveness convey a message that is different from the traditional view of Christianity which many, including preachers have criticized. He was criticized for neglecting the aspect of God’s judgement and sin and giving people a license to sin through his teaching but he has refused to pay them any mind. He revealed that people accusing him is a confirmation that he is preaching the Gospel because Apostle Paul also received the same accusations. In his words, “when people accuse me of preaching the message of grace, I rejoice because the same accusations were levelled against the Apostle Paul. Paul must have preached grace so radically that it caused some to misunderstand him by saying, ‘shall we sin so that grace may abound?”. He also believes that it is the message God has called him to preach and he is not going to lose sight of it despite many oppositions. He owes his message of grace to a divine experience that happened in 1997 while holidaying with his wife. God spoke to him to start preaching about pure and unadulterated grace. Joseph understood this message, and started preaching on grace without allowing the law to interfere in his speeches. Through this experience, his message changed and his life never remained the same. The Church started experiencing so much growth. He was asked to speak in Australia, Canada, United States, the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Great Britain, Indonesia and South Africa.
With more than two decades of full time ministry, Joseph has been able to endear to him, a wide spectrum of viewers who tune in to his daily television program, Destined To Reign. This broadcast currently reaches millions in more than 150 countries. People have testified as a result of this broadcast.
