-God will do something spectacular in your life today that will also make you to say to God: “Thank You.” Laws will be suspended, scientific jargons will be suspended just to bless you in the name of Jesus. May your life never remain the same after today in the precious name of Jesus.
-Lord! Speak to us Your Word, let it bless every heart and give us understanding in Jesus’ name!
-I decree you will find favour. He said: “He shall give these people favour in the sight of the Egyptians.” Emptiness has ended in your life!
BECOMING A SMART FATHER – PART 2. In the Part 1, the word SMART is what we are using for the whole message. Part 1, the ‘S’ is Spirituality. In this Second Service, we will be looking at the ‘M’. So the sub-topic is “MENTAL DEVELOPMENT FOR SUCCESSFUL FAMILY LEADERSHIP.” Church Gist. Remember the first one is ‘Spirituality’! Second one is: ‘Mental Development For Successful Family Leadership’. Each service, we are playing with these 5 words. A father is the male gender of a family, he protects, guides, provides and ensures children in his home are brought up well. Being a father is more than just being a biological parent of a child.
A father must be smart to raise a godly and successful family. In this Service, we would be looking at the letter ‘M’ from the Word ‘SMART’. To be smart means having or showing quick mental capability. ‘M’ stands for Mental Development! So number two is Mental Development. Man is a spirit, he has a soul and he dwells in a body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Church Gist. But the mind is in the soul, that’s where the compartment of the mind is. 2 Timothy 1:7. 1 Corinthians 2:16. So if your mind is sound and you have the mind of Christ then the World should mind you. (The) mind is so vital to our existence, your mind determines your success or your failure. Many have not developed themselves mentally. To be spiritually developed and mentally poor will make you to be an earthly nuisance and you will be earthly useless.
-But that will not be your portion.
Many are spiritually sound, they cast out demons but they are very stupid. Philemon 1:14. We all need continual development of our mentality. Your mentality defines the level of your productivity, prosperity and your progress in life. Church Gist. Hear this, you must not allow your mind or your mentality to be shallow if you don’t want to be a mere shadow. If you allow your mind to be fallow you end up as a shadow.
-But that will not be your portion!
I will tell you some reasons why fathers need to develop their mentality.
Some reasons why fathers need to develop their mentality:
a. To enhance the quality of their thinking.
Someone will say he’s talking to men. I’m also talking to the women. The choice (is) Father’s Day. Are you hearing me now? You don’t have to be stupid as a woman. It’s to everybody! The Message is for everybody! Today is (Father’s Day). Church Gist. Well! We are always saying men but a woman too must be sound. To function effectively and productively in life you must be a good thinker. Your functionality is determined by your mentality. Philippians 4:8. He gave the summary of a thinking syllabus. Have you ever stayed like this (and) you begin to think stupid things? – That you will die quick? You are what you think.
-You won’t die quick!
When you change your thinking you will change your life.
b. To make better decisions.
It takes an informed and developed mind to make the right decisions that will benefit the family. Luke 15:17-19. A young man called Prodigal Son, this Young Man developed his mind. He said: “What am I doing here?” He came to himself. It was from his mind he began to take a step that metamorphosed into his freedom. Church Gist. He sat down and said: “What am I doing here?” He didn’t fast, he didn’t pray yet, he used his mentality to return back to dignity. He said to himself: “I can’t be here eating the food of pigs.” Now, hear this and hear me well, without your mind being updated, your life will never be upgraded. Are you hearing what I’m saying now? I was studying and I saw something in Matthew 1:18-20.
Why you need to develop (your) mentality? You all know the story of Jesus. How many of you know the story of Jesus? You know the story of Jesus? Something happened that Joseph did. Most of you, the things you shared about your family people, keep quiet! You know if it is today, he (Joseph) would have said: “Look at this woman oo, I married her. I’ve not slept with her, she is pregnant!” Something Joseph did, please men listen. Church Gist. Matthew 1:20. So it was in the process of his thinking, he got the answer. Anything happening around you, men, sit down to think. “While he (Joseph) thought!” He didn’t say: ‘While he prayed’. He engaged his mental capacity. You can overcome challenges with a developed mind. Jesus knew what He would do. John 6:6.
-May you know what to do in the name of Jesus!
Because He (Jesus) was mentally sound. John 6:6. There was no food but He knew what to do. Do you know in the midst of hardship, sound minds know what to do? “Oh! The way the World is now, you have to know what to do because the things are getting worse, especially in this part of the World. Church Gist. So you must know what to do to be able to know how to carry your family without stress. Everything has gone up, is that not true? Remaining for the air you breathe to be taxed; everything has gone up! Food gone up! Things gone up! All over the World! So the men must know what to do from the mind. Shout hallelujah!
How to develop right mentality for effective fatherhood?
As fathers! You are the head of the family. To be the head, something must be in the head. For you also to be ahead, something must be in the head.
i. Constantly engage in mind renewal.
Romans 12:2. The principal ingredient for mind renewal is the Word of God. To renew your mind is a personal responsibility. Acts 20:32. “I commend you”. Church Gist. So you must accept responsibility if you don’t want to be a liability in life. God says if you want to be built up mentally… We make a mistake between school and mental development, they are not the same. You can go to school and be very stupid. Mental development is a personal responsibility. Are you getting what I’m saying now?
ii. Be a reader.
You cannot develop yourself mentally without a reading culture. Readers are leaders and to be a leader you must be well informed. What physical exercise (is) to the body is what reading is to mental development. Church Gist. Read books of proven authors. Jesus, although He was the Wisdom of God in person, developed His mental system by reading. Luke 4:16. You know that was where it was opened to Him (about) His mission.
-May God open to you!
Daniel 9:2. Now hear this and hear me well, when your knowledge is outdated and obsolete, your choices and decisions will be backward and awkward. Are you hearing me? So you need to update yourself as fathers with current information otherwise you will be running your family with stone age mentality in this digital and AI, Artificial Intelligence era. We are in an era where things have changed. Is that true? Are you getting me? Even your children can be watching nonsense before your eyes without you knowing if you don’t know anything. Church Gist. So you must be smart in this modern age to know “Eh!! What are you watching!” They can put (on) goggle and they are watching film. And say: “Wetin you dey take cover your eye?” He says: “Na glasses.” Are you hearing what I’m saying now? So every father must develop what? The spirit! Including women oo because we say father does not mean that… God wants us to be mentally updated and upgraded hence His instruction to us – Joshua 1:8. 2 Timothy 2:15.
If you look at the Bible Daniel, Paul, Jesus, (they) were readers. Some of us have not read any book since we graduated. In this part of the World, we read to acquire certificates, we don’t read to develop our minds. Are you getting me? No! Acquiring certificates will not make you intelligent, you need to develop what? (Your mind). 2 Timothy 4:13. When we were moving from Lagos to Port Harcourt, I never cared for my clothes – My greatest treasure in my life is my library. Church Gist. Take everything I have now, leave my library, I will replicate them in one month. Are you getting what I’m saying? The most valuable part of my room is not my jewelries. I protect my library more than anything. I can put my costly watches anyhow but I don’t play with my library because it is not the gold, it’s the books. Are you getting me? If your mind is developed, material things won’t move you. Luke 4:16.
iii. Associate with developed minds.
Luke 2:46-48. Even Jesus had to associate with other people. When you associate with the right people, you will begin to think right, talk right and act right. Proverbs 27:17. My mentality changed because of my association with (Bishop) David Oyedepo. Church Gist. Who are you talking to? Who are you conversing with every time? When stupid people give you counsel, you will end up being stupid. You can associate with them through their books and materials. Are you hearing what I’m saying now?
iv. Align your mind with the Holy Ghost.
His thoughts are far superior and error-free. Isaiah 55:8-9. Church Gist. Be open to be taught, Instructed and guided by the Holy Ghost. Job 32:8. There’s a force in you by the Holy Ghost.
-May He open you up now in the name of Jesus.
Say: Holy Spirit, open my mentality to comprehend in the name of Jesus!
John 14:26.
-May from today, He (The Holy Spirit) become your teacher.
Stop associating with dummies, else you become a dummy. The best form of investment is mental investment. It is stronger than you buying houses. Church Gist. The real capital development is mental development because with your mental development you will buy house.

Why fathers must think right concerning their families? Why must I think right? Because some of you, you think stupid! You just stay like this and be thinking nonsense about your family. Church Gist. Why fathers must think right about their families, concerning their families?
A. Your thoughts shape the family.
Proverbs 23:7. Your family will be as the way you think. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT). So what you think about your family will determine how the family will become. Romans 12:2. Your mind has to be renewed.
B. God answers your thoughts or imagination.
Do you know (that) what you think, God answers? Ephesians 3:20. So, the thing you are thinking, God will answer. God responds to what we think or imagine. Proverbs 4:23. Psalm 112:1-3. That means you are not permitted to have small children. Church Gist. All our children must be what? (Great). But do you know some people will sit down like that and say: “Don’t mind these my children oo, they are like their grandfather.” Psalm 112:3. That means everyone should think like that. Say I hear! Many of us pray but our thinking is wrong. Think positively about your children, say: “My children must be great!”
C. What you think determines what you say.
To say what God says, you must think God’s thoughts; for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Say I hear. Matthew 22:34b. Mark 11:23. Proverbs 12:14. Proverbs 13:2. Confession determines possession. You can’t be thinking poor, speaking poor and expect your family to be prosperous. Some of you, you think poor, talk poor, act poor and expect to be rich. Church Gist. No! It doesn’t work like that! Anything you want your family to become, say it in line with God’s Word. “This family must be a great family. Everything here will get better.” Say I hear! Are you hearing me? Men, go and upgrade your minds. Many people are obsolete, outdated, old fashioned, archaic. In this modern generation, your mind must be what? (Updated). When I converse with some people, you get irritated because you just imagine whether they are in this modern time. It has nothing to do with age, it has to do with information.
If you are not a reader, your mind will never be upgraded. If you like, have PhD and you are not a reader; after you are through with school you will be so stupid that your conversation will reveal you. If you want to know somebody who has developed, just converse with them for five minutes, you will just know where they are. Now all men! It has nothing to do with school, it has to do with personal development. Church Gist. Are you hearing me now? I’ve seen Primary Six pupil who have sound mind more than PhD holders who are very stupid and I’ve seen PhD holders who are very sound. It depends on personal development. All men, thank God for your spirituality – number one which is ‘S’, now Mental Development then Third Service, we take two – ‘A and R’. You know? Where are we going to take it from? ‘SMART’. ‘S’, Spirituality; ‘M’, Mentality and then in Third Service we take what? ‘A’ and we take ‘R’. And then the Fourth Service we take ‘T’. I will tell you what ‘T’ is!

Pray to cast out any negative imagination in your mind that will set your family backward. 2 Corinthians 10:5. “Hey! Anything contrary to God’s Word going on in my mind, I cast it down.” How can you sit down and say how you go take die, if you die now nobody go bury you. Church Gist. Can you just imagine that kind of thought going through a Christian’s mind? And because you are watching one film where they bury somebody. That’s why you must mind what you watch. You say: “See the way this woman die, this man die; nobody to bury am na em be say me too I go die like that!” Taah! God forbid! So every nonsense…
Some of you will stay like this and say: “E be like say poverty dey come oo, poverty dey come oo. Hey! How man go manage the way things dey go up! Electric bill don go up, money don go up, fuel don go up, this one don go up, hey! E be like say we go poor oo.” Why must you think like that? You say: “I cast it down! Every negative…” Church Gist. Some people have not married, they are even thinking (and) saying: “How I go take get pikin?” They have not yet eh (married), they are thinking! They say: “E be like say I go marry one man wey go die quick oo.” They have not yet eh (married), they are thinking! They say e be like say I go marry one man wey go die quick oo.” Thinking like that! “If I become widow now, wetin I go do?” Why would you think like that? “Anything contrary to God’s Word in my mind, I cast it down!”

Isaiah 65:22-23. You are going to decree that your labour in life shall never be in vain. You will not die when you are to enjoy. Church Gist. You will not suffer with your husband, the time you are to enjoy; you now die for another woman, no! You will not train your children and then you now die for another person to inherit your children.
-Lord! For everything I labour for, I must enjoy the fruit of it!
——PRAYERS—-
Thank You, Lord! In Jesus’ mighty name! No one will labour in vain. You will not build for another to inhabit! Church Gist. You will not plant for another to eat! In the name of Jesus! We will all enjoy the fruit of our labour in Jesus’ mighty name!
Life story! A lady introduced a politician when he was deputy governor to the central point. And this man later became a president of this Nation. The time he was to be president, she died in Canada. She would have been the most influential woman in this Country if she was alive. But she laboured for other people to enjoy. Do you understand what I am saying? She had worshipped here a little and left. Church Gist. That time if you pray some prayer she will say: “Pastor, you know all these kinds of prayers are not too good!” And her mother was a known witch, chronic witch, so the mother just finished her. That’s why when we pray, don’t say: “Eh!” You don’t know who is after you. When I pray she says: “Pastor, these prayers are not too good.” Because she came from one funny background and the mother just finished her – She travelled, she just slumped on that day (at the) airport and that was it!
-You will not die!
-We would all enjoy the fruits of our labour in the name of Jesus!
Psalm 68:6 (AMP). “God makes a home for the lonely.” I will take one after the other. That means nobody is permitted to be single; if you decide to marry, He makes a home. All of you, your children and everyone who ideally desires to marry, this is your day! In case your sister, your brother, someone who is close to you; you want the person to marry and you too want to marry, I decree God would give you your own home. Church Gist. “He leads the prisoners into prosperity.” That means, anyone held down… Do you know poverty has a spiritual dimension? Anyone held bound, that poverty has gripped your family, be loosed in the name of Jesus! Everyone in the prison house of hardship, today you are out in the name of Jesus! You will prosper! Who is that person? (I am that person).
Say I will prosper! My family will prosper! I believe it, it is God’s Word, I’m out of every prison of hardship, stagnation, failure, begging, shame, reproach in the name of Jesus! You and I will prosper according to God’s Word!
