Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries, while delivering a sermon on Father’s Day of Honour Service, shared how his biological father never believed he would succeed as a pastor.

According to him, his family came from an Orthodox background. His uncle (his father’s brother) happens to be a pastor in an Orthodox Church. When he eventually became a pastor, his father was so shocked and he even tried to discourage him. He said, based on the experiences his uncle was having as a pastor, his father doubted if anything good would come out from him being a pastor.

Pastor Ibiyeomie further stated, “nobody encouraged me when I started ministry. I have to encourage myself. Everybody saw me as a failure.” He also said that pioneers don’t wait for people to push them, they push themselves.

He concluded by saying when God told Abraham to move out of his father’s house, nobody motivated him to move out. He just moved. He further encouraged the congregation that they shouldn’t wait to be motivated in the pursuit of their purpose. “If you don’t move, they will remove you and if you don’t move, you will never be a mover” – he stated.
